ParticipantHi y’all,
I’m having a little problem where my featured image is displaying when you view an individual event. Currently when I add one it’s displayed beneath the Google Map (if there is one added) or at the bottom of the listing. I would like to have my featured image look like an individual banner for my event. Can you point me in the direction to make this adjustment?
Thanks!August 4, 2012 at 1:27 am #23230Joyce Grace
MemberHello Louis, it would help us a lot if you linked to your site for us to be able to help with these types of things 🙂
However, it sounds like you are trying to customize the look of the calendar, in which case, you will want to check out our Themer’s Guide here: https://theeventscalendar.com/themers-guide-to-the-events-calendar/
If you send us a link to a live working site, even if it’s still under construction, we can have a look and if it’s a quick fix we can help out. Otherwise if it’s an extensive customization we don’t normally support that type of thing.
Thanks!

ParticipantThanks for the reply, Joyce. I have poured over the Themer’s Guide extensively, however, as a neophyte to all things CSS/PHP/HTML I haven’t been able to find exactly where this fix resides. (I’m sure I’ve passed over the solution 139 times already!) I think it’s a very easy fix I just don’t know which PHP file this particular line of code resides in and how it would read in order for me to track it down and alter it.
So with that in mind, here’s a link to the practice page I’ve set up: http://tiny.cc/7hyiiw. The large blue banner was uploaded as the “feature image.” I would like the feature image to be at the top of the listing as a custom banner. (The company logos at the bottom is a separate image and good where it is currently.)
Thanks in advance for your help!

MemberHi Louis, the link says “You do not have permission to preview drafts.” and I can’t see anything else 🙁

MemberStill getting the same message 🙁 Are you able to set up the site on a temporary domain for now so we can do some testing?

Memberlouis, i think this plugin will help you http://justintadlock.com/archives/2008/05/27/get-the-image-wordpress-plugin
once installed just paste the code inside your single event page, above the event details, and it will display “featured image” there.

MemberHere is a tutorial on how to use this plugin, i think it will give you idea on how to implement http://www.adesblog.com/2009/10/14/how-to-show-only-pictures-in-the-search-results-wp-plugin/

MemberHi Louis, (and thank you Abdylas!)
However, the thing is, with the plugin Abdylas suggested, if you set up a “featured image”, it will show in both places – where it is now, and where you put in the event page. That is because it is already coded into the template. So what I think you need to do is grab that featured image part of the page template, and move it to the top.
Have you looked at the tutorial on how to integrate the calendar with Genesis themes? I know you may not be on the Genesis framework, but that tutorial gives A LOT of insight into the principles of customizing the theme. So you would need to start there, and that would tell you which files to open, where to put them, and so on (you’ll want to make sure you do the change in a way that it won’t revert once you update the plugin!).
I will also see if I can get a quick hand on this from some higher up developers. However, since this is customization I’m not sure if they can help out – we’ll see!

MemberHi guys. Here’s an example of a slightly amended single.php template:
Not sure if that’s quite what you’re after, but it might be a good starting point.
