ParticipantHi Julie,
Sorry you’re having trouble. I’ve got a bunch of questions about the specifics of your issues here and will lay them out numerically just for simplicity’s sake:)
1. What are you importing from? You mention “importing” – do you have events on another WordPress installation that you are importing with our CSV importer build into the plugin? Or do you mean you’re importing events from EventBrite? I assume you mean that you’re importing from Eventbrite.
2. What version of The Events Calendar are you currently running on your site?
3. What version of WordPress are you currently running on your site?
4. Can you clarify what you mean when you describe the “header” showing “Free”? Do you mean the title of the event, or something else? Please share links to pages where there are examples of this problem, or screenshots if possible.
I think addressing these questions for now is a good place to start – let me know what you think!
Thanks,
GeorgeGeorge
ParticipantHello,
Sorry you’re having trouble here. I’m curious, is your events page this page? → http://manchesterinklink.com/category/resources-for-living-or-visiting-in-manchester/events/
If so, when I go to this page and click a single event there, it loads fine.
If this is not your Events page, I’m really sorry! Can you share a link directly to it just so we can see the problem live?
Also, in the meantime, a few questions:
1. What version of WordPress are you running on your site?
2. What other plugins do you have installed on your site?
3. If you go to “Settings > Permalinks” in your WordPress admin area and click “Save Changes”, without actually changing anything, does this issue improve at all? This little trick just refreshes the permalinks on your site, which may help here. Thanks,
GeorgeGeorge
ParticipantHey Clint,
Thanks for reaching out to us – this is indeed an odd issue, and after checking out your links, there was not anything that stood out as obviously problematic to me…weird.
It’s quite possible your currently-active theme could be to blame here, though before testing that, I’m curious if you can first head to your site’s wp-config.php file and change this line of code:
define( 'WP_DEBUG', false );to this:
define( 'WP_DEBUG', true );This change will cause PHP errors to display on your site if any exist, which might be very helpful here.
Let us know if you can make this change and, if so, if any errors pop up. (If any do, you can copy and paste them into Gists at http://gist.github.com and share links to those Gists in your replies)
Cheers!

ParticipantHello,
Sorry you’re having trouble here. However, before getting into troubleshooting your specific issues with colors and such, I’m curious about how exactly you have things configured across your sites.
I’m confused because you mention both our plugins, which are “The Events Calendar” and “Events Calendar PRO”, but you also mention “All-in-One Events Calendar”.
These plugins are not the same, and “All-in-One Events Calendar” is not one of our plugins or something we can offer support for.
Can you clarify exactly how these different plugins are being used? If you wrote custom category coloring or other customizations, like for the Prev/Next links, for “All-in-One Events Calendar”, but then activated The Events Calendar, things will not look the same because they are different plugins, and vice versa.
Sorry if I’m misunderstanding anything here, I just want to be certain about what your exact issues are so that we can help you as fast and as accurately as possible! 🙂
Thanks!

ParticipantHi Eusebiu,
Your ticket purchase buttons seem to be where they’re currently located because your theme has placed them there in that sidebar – unfortunately, this means that the only way to change this layout is to manually make some new theme templates yourself, and move the ticketing options to be located underneath the events description.
While we don’t officially support custom design-related things like this, we do have a very in-depth Themer’s Guide which you should check out, it will help you get started with customizing your templates. Check it out here → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/themers-guide/
Let us know if that helps, or if you have any other questions or concerns! 🙂
Cheers,

ParticipantHi Paul! Thanks for reaching out.
You indeed do need to have the free version of The Events Calendar installed to use Community Events, but you do not need to have Events Calendar PRO installed.
I hope that helps!

GeorgeMarch 3, 2015 at 2:58 pm in reply to: using Advanced Custom Fields with Pro Calendar Version #945758George
ParticipantHi Susan,
What you’re trying to do here is possible, though it will indeed require some custom coding.
The key thing is that you’re right that editing the files within The Events Calendar or Events Calendar PRO is a very bad idea – for this reason, we’ve built out a whole templating system that lets you change the display of various events templates by simply adding certain template files to your own WordPress theme or child theme. It’s really handy!
To learn about how to make these custom events templates, first check out our detailed “Themer’s Guide” to see how it all works → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/themers-guide/?source=tri.be
Once you’re able to to do that, then displaying data from ACF fields is as simple as using any of ACF’s own functions for doing so – there’s a great overview of this on the ACF documentation here, so check this out too! → http://www.advancedcustomfields.com/resources/displaying-custom-field-values-in-your-theme/
Those two resources should get you really far along with your goal here – we only have limited support for customizations and custom code and such, but if you get stuck anywhere along here, or have any other questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to ask 🙂
Hope this helps!

ParticipantHello,
At this time, this is unfortunately not possible by default – there’s no setting or way to do this by default in the plugin.
I’m sorry if that’s a disappointment! Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.
Cheers,

ParticipantHey Mason!
Thanks for reaching out to us – there unfortunately are not shortcodes for embedding events in the plugin by default.
However, while it will not display the events in a grid format by default without some custom CSS, you can use a very well-built plugin called “Event Rocket” to be able to embed events with a shortcode. It’s not officially supported but is made by one of our own Developers, and many users get a lot out of it. Check it out here → https://wordpress.org/plugins/event-rocket/
That might be really helpful – that will let you embed events, and then with a little bit of custom CSS, you should be able to display things in a grid as you see fit.
Let us know if this helps.
Cheers,
GeorgeGeorge
ParticipantHi Lorenzo,
I’m sorry to disappoint, but at this time what you’re describing is currently not possible with our ticketing add-ons.
This is a feature we’ve gotten many, many requests for, and the good news is that we are actively working hard on doing this – it’s a little trickier to implement than you might expect, across all our ticketing add-ons accurately and to ensure that user can use either type of ticket stock, but hopefully this will make it into an upcoming release.
It is not a feature of the next release, and not currently supported. Sorry to disappoint Roby.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns!

ParticipantHey Anisa,
Thanks for reaching out to us here.
First, the widget featured images: I’m curious what’s going on here, because the markup for those image tags is pretty broken. Here’s a screenshot of a specific event in the widget area → https://cloudup.com/caaYXU66pVb
Now, if you View Source on that specific element, look at how bad the
tag is broken → https://cloudup.com/clNsnETAEdq
This sort of HTML is not generated by The Events Calendar in any way, so I’m curious, have you made customizations here, of any kind? If so, what are they, in detail? If you’ve customized any files related to the Events widgets or other aspects of the Events Calendar, paste the whole files, unedited, into “Gists” at http://gist.github.com and share links to these Gists so we can take a closer look.
As for the list view featured images, have you written any custom CSS for the Events Calendar list view? Is all this CSS in one file? If so, I’d recommend ensuring you have a backup of all that CSS (you can even make a Gist of it to ensure you can refer back to it after this step), and then temporarily removing all the custom CSS you’ve written. How do things look and work with no custom CSS?
If your custom theme makes the list view Featured Images look out of place, there unfortunately may be little we can do from our end to address this, as it’s related to your theme markup and theme styles, but there’s still plenty of things we can try and we can hopefully help you get things looking nice and neat 🙂
Thanks,
GeorgeGeorge
ParticipantI’m glad to hear it Gosia! Best of luck with your project 🙂
March 3, 2015 at 9:06 am in reply to: My calendar doesn't seem to have tooltip at all. Help! #945699George
ParticipantHi Yanan,
I’m sorry that other plugins are causing issues for you here – there’s unfortunately little we can do about conflicts coming from other plugins, but if you ever are able to deactivate plugins for testing purposes, or activate your default theme, please let us know what you find! It may shed light on the source of the problem and help us be able to figure out a workable solution here.
In the core version of The Events Calendar, tooltip.php exists at /views/month/tooltip.php and while not called directly by /view/month/single-event.php, there’s a lot of documentation in the comments of /view/month/single-event.php that you should read completely for information on modifying the inclusion and output of tooltip.php.
Does this help? Is there more information you’re looking for here to try and get things working on your own? I’m sorry I missed any important information here, and we’ll happily do our best to address any other questions or concerns you have here.
Thanks,
George -
