ParticipantHi,
I searched everywhere only to find discussions about how to modified or disable tooltips, but no info on how to turn it on or if it’s supposed to be on by default.
So help?!
Here’s my calendar:http://drsha.com/soulhealingcenters/hawaii/events/category/public-events/
Thank you,
YananFebruary 23, 2015 at 8:42 am #944291George
ParticipantHey Yanan,
Sorry you’re having some trouble here. I checked out your site and didn’t notice any JavaScript errors right away, and the markup for the tooltips seems to be correct, so I’m curious about some things about your site:
- Have you customized any event views at all for your theme? Or if there’s another developer working on your site with you, any chance they might have?
- When did this issue start happening? Have the tooltips never shown up, or have they been working fine, and then all of a sudden recently stopped working? If the problem is recent, can you think of any recent changes you’ve made on your site that things stopped working after?
Thanks,

ParticipantHi George,
Yes, there’s another developer working on the site. The site is initially created by them (guess I can call them the headquarter) and handed it to us to continue with the content. I guess I should ask them first. But tooltips show up on the headquarter’s calendar just fine. Here’s their site: https://www.drsha.com/eventscalendar/category/master-sha-events/
As far as I remember the tooltips didn’t show up from the beginning. Before I started creating events, I upgraded to the pro version for the recurring events. At some point I added the add-on, The Events Calendar Category Colors. I did customize some the font-size, font-color, and padding…nothing mojor.
I will check with the developer at the headquarter as well.
Thank you for getting back to me while you are on vacation. This calendar is pretty awesome by the way, and thank you all for that.

ParticipantHey Yanan,
Thank for the kind words about the plugin! I’m glad you like it, and hope it’s working well other than this tooltip issue 🙂
Speaking of which, there are a few things I can think of that would be worth checking. These things will help us narrow down the issue – either by finding it directly, or by <i>ruling out</i> these things as potential sources of the problem.
First of all, I’m curious if you’re able to activate a default theme like Twenty Twelve, or Thirteen/Fourteen/etc. If so, how do things work if you activate one of these themes? I know this can be inconvenient, but it’s just a temporary thing and very important for testing the source of this issue.
If you activate a default theme and the tooltips issue still persists, I’d recommend leaving the default theme active and then deactivating all plugins other than the Events Calendar and Events PRO on your site, one at a time. Check on the tooltips after each deactivation, and see if anything is different.
Let us know how much of these steps you can do, and what you find by doing them!
Thanks Yanan

ParticipantHi George and Catherine,
Sorry I had to take care of other work so didn’t get to test on this till today. So since I have three licenses, I used one to create a new calendar from scratch. The tooltip works in the Events Calendar and in Pro on the new site so it’s definitely other issues from other plugins. For now, I can’t uninstall all the plugins in the original site where the tooltip didn’t show up. So I tried to inspect in the browser and found that this part of the html is not appearing on the final page.
<div id=”tribe-events-tooltip-1012″ class=”tribe-events-tooltip” style=”bottom: 31px; display: none;”>
<h4 class=”entry-title summary”>Test event</h4>
<div class=”tribe-events-event-body”>
<div class=”duration”>
<abbr class=”tribe-events-abbr updated published dtstart”>March 12, 2015 @ 8:00 am</abbr>
-<abbr class=”tribe-events-abbr dtend”> 5:00 pm</abbr>
</div>
<span class=”tribe-events-arrow”></span>
</div>
</div>I know that this html is in the tooltip.php
George, can you let me know which php file is responsible for calling it in to the calendar content?Thank you!!!

ParticipantHi Catherine,
Your issue may be quite different in terms of the source of your specific instance of this problem, so can you open up a separate support ticket to help keep things organized? Please include a link to your website, and a detailed description of your issue. Thank you!

ParticipantHi Yanan,
I’m sorry that other plugins are causing issues for you here – there’s unfortunately little we can do about conflicts coming from other plugins, but if you ever are able to deactivate plugins for testing purposes, or activate your default theme, please let us know what you find! It may shed light on the source of the problem and help us be able to figure out a workable solution here.
In the core version of The Events Calendar, tooltip.php exists at /views/month/tooltip.php and while not called directly by /view/month/single-event.php, there’s a lot of documentation in the comments of /view/month/single-event.php that you should read completely for information on modifying the inclusion and output of tooltip.php.
Does this help? Is there more information you’re looking for here to try and get things working on your own? I’m sorry I missed any important information here, and we’ll happily do our best to address any other questions or concerns you have here.
Thanks,

ParticipantHi,
The pressing thing is half the calendar header missing – and NO date on listings
http://irishculturebayarea.com/?post_type=tribe_events
No tooltip at all, and formatting off on listings (Text extreme left)
Original problem was no venue on tooltip and now that’s least of my worries.
Can I start all over?
Big problems

ParticipantSorry, meant to send example of listing – missing date

ParticipantHi Catherine,
Your issue is quite different than Yanan’s, so can you open up a separate support ticket to help keep things organized? Please include the links to your website that you’ve included here, along with the description of your issue. Thank you!

ParticipantWell, I guess the missing tooltip is the same problem as I see on Yanan’s site so that’s why I latched onto that one! Sorry – I’m really desperate!

ParticipantHi Catherine,
No worries, but keeping your posts in one ticket will speed up how quickly we can address your problems. I’ve responded to your ticket over here → https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/missing-month-header-missing-tooltip-missing-date-no-venue-up-front/
So I think the best bet is to keep the discussion of your issues there, just to maintain organization and a correct appropriation of support resources.
Thanks,
