    Hey Paul,

Thank you for reaching out! We were unfortunately caught by surprise by some more Eventbrite API changes – they’ve changed several things, and even while we were mid-QA on some of our code changes to help fix the resulting bugs, they changed something else breaking one of our features!

It’s almost funny, in a way, but mainly just frustrating. We are working very hard to get a proper update out to folks that addresses the Eventbrite API update this week, and while we’re not quite at an official release yet, we do have a “Release Candidate” version that might help.

Would you be interested in trying that out? The Status-related issues you describe are among the bigger things we have to rewrite since Eventbrite’s API change, the Release Candidate might work a bit more smoothly with that for you.

You can download the Release Candidate here if you’d like → https://cloudup.com/cRgln4qldMR

To use it, you could basically just delete the existing Eventbrite Tickets plugin (this will not erase any saved data or events!), and then upload the Release Candidate in its place.

I’m sorry about these issues Paul – we’ve been all-hands-on-deck trying to turn around an update here to catch up to Eventbrite’s API changes, and I’ll post here (and many places! 🙂 ) when the official update is released.

    Thank you,
    George

    Hey Charmaine,

Thanks for reaching out to us – I’m sorry about your issues! It seems like you were trying to post screenshots in your post here, but they didn’t post. Can you try posting them again?

You should be able to upload your screenshots to your WordPress site’s media library, or to something like Dropbox.com or with an app like CloudUp. Then you can just share a direct link to those uploaded images and we’ll take a closer look at your issues.

In the meantime, can you clarify these pieces of information:
    1. What version of The Events Calendar do you have active on your site?
    2. What version of Events Calendar PRO do you have active on your site?

    Thank you!

    Hi Heather,

The Community Events and Facebook Importer add-ons are all separate products, independent of each other and independent of Events Calendar PRO, which is another add-on.

The only thing you need is The Events Calendar, which is free on wordpress.org – then, yes, each add-on is priced individually starting with the Basic Licenses, and you can just add as few or as many add-ons to the free version as you’d like.

To learn more about the benefits of PRO, or any add-on, the best resource is the product page on this site for that add-on.

For example, here are the product pages for each of the add-ons you mentioned today:

    • PRO → https://theeventscalendar.com/product/wordpress-events-calendar-pro/
    • FB Importer → https://theeventscalendar.com/product/facebook-events/
    • Community Events → https://theeventscalendar.com/product/wordpress-community-events/

I hope this helps! Let us know if it does, or if you have any other followups questions/concerns.

    Thanks!

    Hello,

I’m sorry to hear about these bugs – Eventbrite rewrote their whole API this week, meaning some features might have issues like you’re describing here.

We’re working rapidly on a new “hotfix” version of the plugin to get out into the world, but for now, we have a “release candidate” of that hotfix that you can download and manually install on your site if you’d like. It might help with the issues you’re experiencing here.

To use the release candidate, you would need to:
    • Delete the existing version of Eventbrite Tickets off your site.
    • Download the release candidate from here → https://cloudup.com/cRgln4qldMR
    • Install that release candidate on your site.
    • If it works, then keep using it until the “official” release for the Hotfix is made public.
    • When that release is made public, you will need to delete the Release Candidate and replace with the official version.

If you’re interested in that, download the file in step #2 above and let us know if it helps at all here. If you’d rather wait for the official release, that’s fine too! It should be available within 48 hours.

I’m sorry about the inconvenience from this, we’re working rapidly to accommodate for Eventbrite’s API change.

    Thank you,
    George

    Hi Evan,

Yes, for any WordPress Plugin or Theme, if you edit the core code for that plugin or theme then updating it will overwrite the existing files. This will mean that, yes, your custom code will be lost.

    Hi Rano,

What all plugins i need to have a calendar like this site

The calendar itself on that site is just the default free version of The Events Calendar and the Events Calendar PRO add-on.

They are also using our WooCommerce Tickets add-on to sell tickets to events.

how can i control who make events on my website…. i just want paid members to ADD events

This is something you have to manage within WordPress itself, not related to The Events Calendar. Basically, Events are just a Post Type, so if your paid members have certain membership levels, they’ll be able to access and create events in your admin. However, if non-paying members just have “Subscriber” permissions on your site, they will not be able to create events or other content in your admin. Search online for information about WordPress user roles and how that works for more information.

can vendors sell tickets on the calendar

Similar to the answer above, if your vendors have full “Administrator” capabilities on your site, they will be able to create events and/or add tickets to existing events. If not, they will not be able to.

    Hi @mauitime,

Two things stand out to me here – first, in your screenshot there are filter parameters from the Tribe Filter Bar that are in the URL. These are the parameters that look like ?tribe_cost=0-59+adult+and+….

    1. So, if you use the “Reset Filters” button to clear the filters there, does anything change?

    2. The title for the month is “Events for Monday, June 2015”, which doesn’t make sense and is also nothing that would arise from the default plugin code itself. Have you made any customizations at all to any aspect of the core plugin code, or from within your theme like in the functions.php file or something?

If so, please backup these customizations somewhere and then remove them temporarily – then see how things behave.

    Thank you!

Thank you for the kind words Jon! I’m sorry to bear the news that, at this time, there are no such plans to bring this product outside of WordPress.

Who knows what the future holds, though? 😉

Great! Keep backups of all custom code like this to minimize the risk of losing it in an update.

Best of luck with your site,

    Thanks for clarifying that Lorene.

One thing I’m curious about is that the event itself has a start date in September and an End date in November – this means that the event itself is two-month-long event, a single event lasting two months.

However, it seems like the event is actually just a 3-hour class. This 3-hour class occurs on Wednesday every Wednesday for two months, but is not a single event lasting two months itself – does this difference make sense?

In other words, if the classes are three-hour classes that you show up for at 9am and then end at 12pm that same day, the start and end date should be the same date, with those times entered. THEN the recurrence options take effect – repeating that 3-hour event every Wednesday for 2 months, instead of being one 2-month long event itself.

Does this difference make sense? Try changing your start/end dates as described here and let us know if it helps.

    Thanks!

    Hi Donald,

I’m sorry you’re disgruntled about this and feel our support wasn’t adequate. Let’s take a step back and try to make things right here, as we do care about your site and want to help.

There are several different problems and issues going on at once. Let’s cut all that out and focus first on loading custom stylesheets.

First things first, you wrote this in your reply above:

    * To replace our stylsheet altogether, you can use the ‘tribe_events_stylesheet_url’ filter. (was asking about this – never got an answer)

If you see your original two posts on this thread, you don’t mention filters anywhere, so it was an honest miscommunication and I’m sorry I didn’t pick up on your desire to use these filters.

If you want to use the filters listed in that Themer’s Guide article, your best bet is to follow the code examples there that show how to use those filters.

Check out the information in that article that I screenshotted here → https://cloudup.com/caUBzaBsMdz

Read those two paragraphs, do they help? Basically: set the “Tribe Stylesheet” option to “Skeleton”, then follow the instructions there to point to a file called custom-events-stylesheet.css in your theme.

You will have to create this file in your theme’s root directory – that means that this file does not go in the /tribe-events folder of your theme.

If you first create this file, then add those filters to your theme’s functions.php file, and then delete your other attempted customization files to keep things simple and organized here, we should be in a good place to continue addressing your other questions.

Let me know if this helps clarify things a bit, at least for this first step. We can move to your other items once we’re squared up on this one.

Your patience means a lot, and I appreciate it. By tackling these items one at a time hopefully we can get things working as desired on your site.

    Sincerely,
    George

    Hi Lorene,

Thank you for the screenshots. I checked out your site’s month view, however, and it seems that this is actually working fine – I do not see the events occurring on every day of the week. Here’s a screenshot of what I do see → https://cloudup.com/cIlynzC2RLP

Any thoughts on that? Did you make some changes that seemed to resolve this for you?

    Thank you!

Thank you for testing that Yvonne!

I tried another Theme and it worked. So i guess it is a Theme conflict somewhere.

That test is pretty revealing, and it does seem to be a theme-specific conflict here.

I’ll close up this thread for now, with that in mind, but if this issue continues to arise we’ll investigate it again and fix it ASAP 🙂

    Cheers!

Thank for you that update Marcin! Great tip!

And for everyone else here – thank you for your patience! Our whole support team had a briefing on things today and tackling translations is one of our main priorities right now, if not the main priority.

Stay tuned all, thanks again for being patient with us as we roll out this new tool.
