ParticipantHey @tech4life,
we share your frustrations with the lack of formatting and such, because to answer your question, yes, the lack of formatting is somewhat normal 🙁
The issue is because of the .ics file format itself – it’s super-strict in terms of what characters, content, and so on are allowed, so much so that even line-breaks are often problematic.
The format is usually meant for rather limited-scope applications like iCal, or Google Calendar, which just show little event boxes that all have the same design and just show title, time, place, and maybe a little description.
Compare this to a website, which can have all sorts of rich content and images, video embeds, font styles, links, and so on…
It’s an inherent limitation and the .ics file format simply leaves us with little we can do 🙁
I noticed that your iCal purchase was on October 15; that means you have until November 14th to act on the 100% refund policy we have. If these iCal limitations truly do render it useless for you, because you have to recreate so much content anyways, please let me know if you’d like a refund. We can issue one immediately if you email [email protected] with a copy of your original order receipts…
Sorry to bear the bad news about this, @tech4life! Let me know what you think and if I can help with anything else.
Sincerely,
GeorgeOctober 28, 2015 at 12:05 pm in reply to: Events page completely blank but events still there in system #1019478George
ParticipantHey Ben!
We’re handling your issue over in this other forum thread → https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/events-page-completely-blank-but-events-still-there-in-system-2/
I will close up this thread for now so that we can keep the conversation in that one thread above.
Cheers!

ParticipantHey @nathalie,
I’m sorry you’re having issues here. Before we get started, I need to make it clear that we cannot help at all with any custom code. So if you’re having issues related to customizations you’ve made, we unfortuantely cannot help 🙁
However, I’m not sure what your problems are. You say this: “I tried to fix it with the code, but maybe i do it wrong.”
What is “It”? What are your specific issues? Can you also link to your site where these problems are happening so we can see things in person?
Finally, can you also share your system information with us? Here’s how to do that → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/
Thank you! It is not clear what your issues are at present, so the more we learn about them the more we might be able to help so long as the issues are not of or relating to customizations.

ParticipantHey @John!
There are unfortunately not many specific resources about creating customized views, but we have a few related items nonetheless that should make a difference here.
To get a better sense of The Events Calendar’s templating system to begin with, we have these two articles which should be quite helpful:
• https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/template-overview/To get the Tribe Bar to play along with your new view, we have this article which covers some basics:
These are unfortunately the main documentation items that related to your customization-making here; we cannot offer any help with custom code, but let me know if I can help with anything else!
Cheers,
GeorgeGeorge
ParticipantHey @Sean,
Just to be 100% clear, instead of October 28 @ 19:00 you want it to say nothing more than 7pm?

October 28, 2015 at 11:41 am in reply to: Where can I download older Events Calendar Pro (3.9.1 or 3.9.3 or both)? #1019462George
ParticipantHey @Marcus,
Depending on the date on which you purchased your license, you should be able to find older files by going to http://theeventscalendar.com/my-account/downloads, and you’ll be able to use the dropdown there to find older versions.
If you don’t have success with this let me know!
I’m sorry about your lost custom code; for what it’s worth, though, if you have a backup of those customizations you should be able to port that code over to the 3.12.x relatively easily if you activate WP_DEBUG. With that activated, PHP errors will display that show what is causing the error; you’d probably have to replace a few function names and then that’s it!
Just some thoughts on it 🙂

GeorgeOctober 28, 2015 at 11:30 am in reply to: Venue and Organizer templates in Event Calendar Pro #1019450George
ParticipantHey @Annette,
Good question! There is no such navigation on single-organizer or single-venue templates at this time 🙁 doing so with custom code would also actually be quite challenging, so I wouldn’t even recommend doing that either.
I’m sorry to disappoint! Let me know what you think about all of this and/or if you have any other questions, comments, concerns, etc.
Cheers,

ParticipantHey @Guillem,
Those specific dates would unfortunately be a bit tricky to pull off with recurring events at this time 🙁 We have a “custom” recurrence type that might let you get somewhat close to this, but it’d be hard to pull off since the dates you listed don’t follow any obvious “recurrence pattern” necessarily.
I’m sorry to bear that news! Definitely check out this article regarding recurring events to get a better idea of what’s possible with those features → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/pro-recurring-events/
I hope that helps!
Cheers,
GeorgeGeorge
ParticipantI’m sorry @tarmota, this wouldn’t be possible without some moderately-extensive custom coding 🙁
Would the “Contact person” be useful if it was attached to a specific event, instead of to a specific organizer? If so, Events Calendar Pro’s “Additional Fields” feature would do this wonderfully – read more about that here → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/pro-additional-fields/
Sorry to disappoint @tarmota! Let me know what you think.

ParticipantHey Glenn,
To address your comments in reverse-order, if you mean the admin toolbar then you will not be able to add an “Add Venue” link to the admin toolbar without custom code. We do not help with custom code here, which is an important note for this question and also for some of your other comments.
For example, you mention the formatting of checkboxes in the recurrence panel – to edit this, you would have to edit core admin CSS 🙁
As for the datepicker, I’m sorry to hear that the format isn’t updating. In general it should be, so I while investigate this; if there’s a bug here, I’ll log it and in a coming release we can patch that.
Thanks for your other bits of feedback! The end date and time is something that will not be removed any time soon – you mention that your events don’t start on one date and end another, but they still do have an end date and there is no way to easily go about changing the plugin code to automatically assume that any event is just a one-day event at this time.
Thank you!

ParticipantHey Roby,
Can you take a screenshot of where this is appearing on your site? You can upload that screenshot to a site like Imgur.com and then share that Imgur link here so we can look at it…
I’m just want to be 100% certain I know which version of this note you’re seeing on your site.
Cheers!

ParticipantThank you for interest in our plugins Suzie!
This is an excellent question here:
If an event has tickets included and you set it to recur, will the tickets recur too?
Currently, no, this does not happen. We are hoping to implement features like this some time in the coming year, perhaps, but even if we do pull this off it will not be for several months from now. 🙁
I’m sorry to bear some of this disappointing news but hope that it’s a clear answer that helps you move forward with your decision-making in regards to your project. Let me know if this information helps and/or if you have any other questions!
Sincerely,
GeorgeOctober 28, 2015 at 11:06 am in reply to: Appropriate fit for summer camp and guide service? #1019427George
ParticipantHey Evan!
We run an outdoor summer camp and guide service in Yosemite and we have recurring ‘events’ (trips/camp sessions), does the PRO version cater to this?
YES, Events Calendar Pro has a robust recurring events system – check out this knowledgebase article on the subject to learn more and get a sense of whether or not this will work for you → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/pro-recurring-events/
Here is our current calendar: http://lastingadventures.com/calendar/ – if we use any of the views (calendar, photo, week, etc), can it direct to a specific landing page instead of an event page?
NO, this is not possible unless you write custom code to do so. We cannot help with any custom code so if you’re not familiar with doing that, or cannot hire someone to code that for you, it will not be possible with the plugin itself.
Is there a way to add a couple lines of code for our ‘book now’ button on the initial views (calendar, photo, week view – prior to clicking into the event specific page)?
YES, you can write any custom code you’d like, and this feature is indeed possible to code. As noted above however, custom code is not something we can help with at all, so you’d have to write that code or hire someone to do so.
I hope these answers are clear and help you move forward in your decision-making process; and thanks for even considering our software to begin with 🙂
Cheers!

ParticipantHey @Tony,
Just to be clear, by “title” tag do you the HTML <title> tag of your document as a whole? If so, you’ll unfortunately have to get down and dirty with WordPress’ wp_title() function → https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/functions/wp_title/
Let me know if you mean something else – we don’t offer specific code-customization help here but I’m happy to help as much as possible.
Cheers,
GeorgeGeorge
ParticipantHey @Jennifer,
I’m sorry to hear that you’ve found our plugin limiting, and am especially sorry to then also bear the bad news on top of that which is that no, we do not have any built-in way to do this at this time and no plans to do so (in the immediate future, at least).
You could indeed custom-code this or hire someone to do so for you; otherwise it’s not a default plugin feature and is not planned on being one 🙁
I’m sorry to bear this news but hope that it’s a clear answer that helps you move forward with your project. Please let me know if there’s anything else I can help with!
Cheers,
