ParticipantWe’ve run into a hitch with Pro 3.12.x because we had customized a bunch of the code in earlier versions, which then got overwritten (both on dev and production) with 3.12. Where can I download older versions of Events Calendar Pro?
We did not deactivate all other plugins or change to the default theme because, previously, just restoring the older plugin did the job, but for whatever reason, that older version has gone missing from local files.

ParticipantHey @Marcus,
Depending on the date on which you purchased your license, you should be able to find older files by going to http://theeventscalendar.com/my-account/downloads, and you’ll be able to use the dropdown there to find older versions.
If you don’t have success with this let me know!
I’m sorry about your lost custom code; for what it’s worth, though, if you have a backup of those customizations you should be able to port that code over to the 3.12.x relatively easily if you activate WP_DEBUG. With that activated, PHP errors will display that show what is causing the error; you’d probably have to replace a few function names and then that’s it!
Just some thoughts on it π

ParticipantThanks, George. We have managed to restore our custom calendar sidebar. Question: In the process of troubleshooting a conflict with Visual Composer and other plugins, all were deactivated at one point or another, including TEC and TEC Pro.
Would this have caused the individual TEC widgets to be deactivated? I ask because we have a calendar list in the sidebars of various pages, and after another staffer deactivated all our plugins, those sidebar widgets disappeared, but thankfully they all appeared on the widgets page, under “Inactivate Widgets”. However, there is another possibility, which is that this was caused by deleting and then restoring the TEC/TEC Pro plugin folders.
Also, I’m a bit confused about the plugin folders: I actually only see one whereas my admin plugins page shows one for the free version and another for the Pro. Is that how it should be (two plugins contained in one folder)?
Thanks much for your help!

ParticipantHey @Marcus,
If The Events Calendar and Events Calendar Pro were deactivated, then that would have indeed caused the widgets to be deactivated. The migration of them to the “Inactive Widgets” area is the default handling of widgets like this in WordPress.
As for the folders, there should be separate folders for each plugin βΒ what are all of the folders you see? It’s possible that your theme also has The Events Calendar’s plugin within it, which is a terrible coding practice but something that is unfortunately common in WordPress π

ParticipantOK, thanks much, George. Regarding the folders, there is only one folder named “the-events-calendar” in the plugin folders and nowhere else that I can see (e.g., in theme folder).
However, we DO have two plugins listed on the WP Plugins page: The Events Calendar (3.12.3), and The Events Calendar Pro (3.12.4). Is this supposed to be the case (mismatched versions aside)?
And, regarding mismatched versions, I notice 3.12.5 is available for the free plugin and 3.12.6 for the Pro version. Even those don’t match in number, is that what we should be running?

ParticipantHey Marcus,
Apologies for some of the confusion here. I hope I can help clarify some of these details:
First of all, yes both The Events Calendar and Events Calendar Pro need to be listed plugins on your site and active to work. The Events Calendar is the “core” plugin, while Events Calendar Pro and any other add-ons we make are all “add-ons” that just extend the functionality of that core plugin, and so The Events Calendar needs to always be active.
Next, the “matching” of plugin version numbers only needs to happen on the first two digits of the number. So for example, 3.12.x versions will work with each other. These combinations are all fine:
TEC 3.12.5
ECP 3.12.6TEC 3.12.4
ECP 3.12.1TEC 3.12.1
ECP 3.12.3And so on…that third digit is not that important, and they’re called “dot releases” that often include minor bug fixes and stuff like that, so sometimes we indeed have one plugin [ like Events Calendar Pro, now ] that has a higher third digit than any other plugin in our lineup…
Just go for the highest possible third-digit you can find, and have those versions active π
I hope that helps!
George
