    Hey Tom,

Oh yeah, storing that in a cookie would certainly be one way to do it.

I dug into our documentation and was unable to find a function you could use to tap into when the view switches.

That said, the switch does fire AJAX, so I wonder if that would be a way for you to hook into the action and store a cookie as a result. You are right unfortunately, that this level of custom development is not supported here in the forums, but I think you are on an interesting and realistic path to accomplishing it.

In the meantime, I went ahead and took the liberty of writing up a formal feature request for you that covers the idea of having an option for registered site visitors who are logged into WordPress:

Please add your vote if this is something you’d like to see. I cannot guarantee that we will build this, but more votes will certainly increase the likelihood. 🙂

    Cheers,
    Geoff

    Hi Kristian,

My name is Geoff and I head up support here at Modern Tribe. The other Geoff on our team brought this thread to my attention and I wanted to reach out to you directly because the topic of languages and translation support is a big one for us over here and is not without its complexities.

The bottom line is that you are absolutely correct. The way we have defined variables is not suitable for some string translations where two words ought to be concatenated.

I wish I could jump right in here and say we’ll be able to find, build and release a patch for this but I think that is an unrealistic expectation to set. The truth is that changes like this one — regardless of how small they appear — are likely to have a broad impact to the way content is used, translated and customized across the board and we need to put our heads together as a team to find the right approach. This will undoubtedly take some time and I can only ask for your patience while we do that.

In the meantime, I know you requested a refund. I want to do right by you to the full extent I can, but do understand that the reason we specify a 30-day window in our terms and conditions is because that is the maximum number of days for which our payment gateway will honor a refund request.

Regardless, I have initiated the refund process for your Community Events purchase (Order #1168735). I cannot guarantee that the funds will return to your account but, again, I want to do right by you as best I can and make this good faith effort at the very least. If the funds do process, they will do so in 5-10 business days.

I would also be willing to exchange your Community Events license for another product license that you would find more useful. Let us know if that’s something you would be interested in and we’d be happy to make it happen.

In the meantime, we have ticketed the issue in our system as something for us to think through and discuss. While I do not have a target date for when we’ll be able to work on it, this thread has been attached to the ticket and we will be sure to follow up directly here if and when we learn more.

My sincere apologies for the trouble. I hope this note can at least reassure you that we will be working to address it in due time.

    Sincerely,
    Geoff G.

Hey Thomas, welcome back and hope all is well!

That’s a really interesting idea! However, there is no setting or feature in our plugins that would add that preference to a user’s profile.

That would make for a good feature request though. If we were to build something like this (not guaranteeing that we can), how do you envision that working? Specifically, I’m wondering where a user would specify their preferred calendar view: would it be an option in the calendar on the front end of the site, or would it be an option they would configure when signed into the WordPress admin? Or something else altogether?

    Cheers!

    Hey there,

Good question — however, there are no specific variables in The Events Calendar that Yoast SEO would recognize as either the event start or end date in the title tag that Yoast generates.

Sorry for the bad news, but does this at least help answer your question? Please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Hi Raymond,

Great question, though I am afraid that Event Tickets Plus only supports collecting information on a per-ticket basis. In other words, the fields you set up to collect attendee information will be displayed for each ticket that is added.

One possible workaround you might consider is to use something like Gravity Forms to add a form to an event that asks the questions you want answered on a one-time basis. I realize that would be a little odd insofar as the information submitted would then not be attached to the event, but in a separate area of WordPress. Still, it might be worth considering.

Does this help answer your question? Please let me know!

    Cheers!

    Hi @Sascha, welcome back!

I am afraid that is correct: in order to attach an image to a ticket, you will need to edit the ticket on the Product level in WooCommerce.

I do see an open request in our feature request for this very thing. Would you be willing to add your vote to it? It could definitely use more votes and I could see how that would be a very handy feature.

Sorry for the bad news, but does this at least help answer your question? Please let me know.

    Cheers!

in reply to: Feature Request : External Ticket Link #1203122

    Hi Chris,

    Thanks for following up!

Regarding linking to an external ticketing system, I want to be clear that I was suggesting something different than custom fields, which I agree would be a clunky way to accomplish the goal. Instead, I was suggesting small tweaks using the plugin’s existing template override system that would allow you to repurpose an existing field for the field you need. You could also use the template override to make the URL a button instead of a text link and display the price of the ticket in the text of the button using the tribe_get_formatted_cost function in the template.

    This would accomplish:

    • The ability to specify the external ticket link that produces a button to click ‘Buy Tickets’, aka a link with a nice button.
    • The ability to create a ticket with a price, pointing to ticket link (which allows you to display pricing of the event)

To me, the suggestions sound like they would accomplish what you’re looking for using what the plugin offers today. Do you agree? If not, what do you see as preventing that from working?

And, just to confirm: I had a question in my last reply that I am note sure were covered in your reply, but are key for getting more clarity. It was regarding the ability to take donations for tickets rather than naming a firm price:

Also, do you imagine this being a feature that Event Tickets handles entirely on its own? The reason I ask is because WooCommerce already has the Name Your Price extension and my guess is that this feature would either require us to leverage that tool or override it completely if it is already installed on a site. In fact, have you tried using that extension with Event Tickets Plus?

Would you be willing to comment on that for me?

    Thanks a lot!

    Hi @sukhwinder,

Note that the there are two options at the top of the ticket in your screenshot:

    • RSVP
    • WooCommerce

You will want to select the WooCommerce option to create a ticket that uses the WooCommerce cart.

    Thanks!

    Nice work, Marcus!

You’re doing everything perfectly so far.

Seeing that filtered URL works on the test site is a really encouraging sign because it means the functionality does indeed work. Now we need to pinpoint where the breakage occurs and your last note about adding components to the site is exactly right.

Please start with the theme — install that and let’s see if the URL continues to work. If so, great! You can move on to installing each plugin one-by-one and testing as you go to see which one is possibly getting in the way.

I appreciate your help with this. What this does tell me is that there is not a bug in the plugins when it comes to the URL working but rather something else on the site that is preventing it from working. Once we’ve pinned down what that thing is, we can see if there is a workaround to make it work — or, the best course of action might be to reach out to the theme/plugin author for more advice.

Let’s see where adding the theme back in gets us and then go from there.

    Thanks so much!

    Hi Surabhi,

We’ll certainly get to your thread as soon as we possibly can! I’d prefer to keep this thread to the topic that was originally opened and continue the conversation in your other thread. On that note, did you have any additional questions about exchanging your licenses that I can help with?

In the meantime, here are a couple of troubleshooting tips I would suggest for the other issue, which I would recommend trying and adding to the other thread:

    • Check to make sure you are running The Events Calendar 4.3.3 and Community Events 4.3.1. Those are the latest versions of each and will function best when paired together.
    • Try switching to the WordPress Twenty Sixteen theme. If you do not see the same layout issues there, that suggests that the theme styles are conflicting with Community Event styles and those will need to be cleaned up manually. Otherwise, send a screenshot of the broken layout in Twenty Sixteen so we can compare it to our test sites.

    Cheers!

    Hi @jskk123,

    Thanks for following up!

I did a little more digging on this and have some good news on threefronts.

First off, I was indeed able to replicate the same issue as you describe and use the Facebook URL you provided. Thanks a ton for the additional information because it helped a lot.

Secondly, I looked into the ticket we have open for this in our system, followed up with our QA team and confirmed that the issue is not isolated to when Events Calendar PRO is activated. In other words, it’s a general import issue, regardless of what other plugins are activated.

And, third, we have a fix for this that has not only passed testing as of this morning, but will be released in our very next maintenance release. I heard rumors that could be released today, but that’s if everything else goes smoothly without any unforeseen circumstances.

I’ll go ahead and mark this thread Pending Fix. I’ve also marked this thread (as well as the other thread you referred to) in the ticket and we’ll be sure to follow up with you directly here when the maintenance release has shipped.

Thanks so much for your help with this! I’m looking forward to having more good news to share shortly.

    Cheers!
