MemberHi Phil,
Sorry, I don’t think the screenshot you provided made it through. Would you be willing to try re-sharing it with me?
Also, it would be extra helpful if you could provide your system information with me so I can check to some of your settings, plugin versions and other information that I can use to mirror my test site against yours in a default WordPress environment.
You can the system information by heading to Events > Settings > Help, copying the system information towards the bottom of the screen and pasting it here as a private reply.
Thanks so much!

MemberHi Phil,
Thanks so much for following up. I also really appreciate the steps to replicate the issue you’re facing — those are really nicely outlined and give me exactly what I need to test this out myself.
I followed the steps and it appears things are working correctly on my end. Here’s exactly what I did:
- Made a new venue. I used the University of Manchester along with it’s address and latitude/longitude coordinates to create the venue based on a real-life location. (screenshot)
- Made a new event. I added a ticket for that event and attached the Manchester University venue to that event. (screenshot)
- Published the event.
- Visited the main calendar. I entered “Manchester” into the search bar’s “Near” field and it returned “Manchester UK” as an available option. (screenshot)
A couple of notes on my testing environment:
- The latest version of WordPress (4.6.1)
- The latest versions of The Events Calendar (4.2.7) and Events Calendar PRO (4.2.6)
- Default WordPress Twenty Sixteen theme
Before we move on to troubleshooting the issue further, are the steps I followed correct? If not, please let me know what is missing and I’ll re-test to make sure I’m following the same steps you are.
If what I’ve tested is correct, then I’ll ask you to follow some additional testing steps to see where our testing environments may be different so we can pinpoint where the issue may be coming up.
Thanks!

MemberMy absolute pleasure, Paul! I’m really stoked to hear that’s going to do the trick — ACF is an excellent plugin and it works very well with The Events Calendar.
I’ll go ahead and close this thread but please do let us know if any other questions come up and we’d be more than happy to help. 🙂
Cheers,

MemberHi Susanna!
That’s the iCal file I brought up in my first reply. That will indeed add events to a person’s calendar application but it will not sync events to their calendar — in other words, it’s a one-time import of events.
I do want to underscore that The Events Calendar does not offer any syncing services to other calendar applications. The methods we’ve discussed so far will either allow folks to do a one-time import of events into their calendar application or subscribe to an RSS feed of updates when published.
Do you have any follow-up questions here about the iCal files or RSS feeds? Let me know!
Thanks,
GeoffGeoff

MemberThank for following up, Craig! Definitely a good idea to get that feature on the UserVoice radar.
I’m honestly unsure whether it’s possible to include the order notes in a CSV export. That’s something that, if possible, would be part of WooCommerce rather than The Events Calendar. I did a little digging and this plugin might be one way to accomplish that:
Store Exporter – Export WooCommerce Products, Orders, Subscriptions, Customers
I hope it is but, if not, I would suggest reaching out to WooCommerce support since they may be familiar with another or more optimal way to go about it.
Cheers!

MemberHi Phil,
Thanks for following up on both of those threads and I appreciate you bearing with us while we look into the search functionality together.
We unfortunately do not provide any phone support, but I do see that both of the threads you linked to are still open. In particular, the one open with Cliff is awaiting your reply and we we would be happy to keep the conversation going over there.
To specifically address the question in the other thread:
I was hoping that the search form could be set up so that only UK cities appear? But my developer has said that The Events Calendar uses a Google API for searches, so this problem can only be fixed by Google. Is this entirely accurate?
We have discussed this as a team and identified this as a feature rather than an issue with the plugin itself. In other words, limiting the geolocation bounds of the Google Maps API feature is something that our plugins have not been designed to do, but is something we are interested in looking into as a future functional enhancement. In other words, we are not tackling this as something that needs to be fixed in a maintenance release, but something that will take additional development to build as a feature.
Cliff pointed out in that thread that someone was able to create a workaround and provided that snippet in this reply. That might be a great starting point to get the ball rolling in the meantime while we consider building this as an officially supported feature.
I hope this helps add some context as well as some some helpful information to work around the fact that the plugins do not support bounding the Google Maps API coordinates at this time.
Thanks,
GeoffGeoff
MemberHi Craig — welcome back!
Editing information is actually something the attendee needs to do themselves. If they visit the event, then there will be a notice on there that informs the attendee that they have already reserved a ticket for the event (screenshot).
Once the attendee clicks that link, it will provide a screen on which they can edit the information they had previously entered when purchasing the ticket (screenshot).
You’re probably looking for a way to edit that information yourself but I’m afraid that isn’t something we support just yet, though it is something we are looking into.
Does this help answer your question? Please let me know!

MemberHi Lydia,
Great question and, yes, the fields for specifying the exact latitude and longitude coordinates for a venue are indeed in Events Calendar PRO.
Let me know if you have any other questions about what’s included in Events Calendar PRO or about the coordinate feature and I’d be happy to help.
Cheers!

MemberHi Carolyn,
No worries at all! Our licenses do not automatically renew whatsoever, so no action is needed on your part to cancel. Great question though and it’s always good to confirm.
Does this help answer your question? Please let me know. 🙂

MemberHey Paul, welcome back — hope all is well. 🙂
Man, what a cool idea! I have to admit that this is the first time I’ve seen someone trying to use the Press This functionality for publishing content this way and it’s super creative.
And, to be honest, I’m not entirely sure it’s possible to redirect the Press This functionality to work specifically with the back-end editor of a specific post type (like Events) without a lot of custom development. I spent a little time seeing if perhaps there were some existing plugins to help with the lifting I think it would require but came up empty.
If this were my task, I would probably start by looking into Advanced Custom Fields. That will allow you to replace any of the Event fields in the editor with your own and set default options for those fields, which you can then use to replace the Event content in the calendar template to build the formatted table on the event page. That might also be a nice way to keep the editing experience completely in WordPress rather than two different places. Just a thought though, and you may have already explored this as an option.
Sorry I don’t have a concrete answer for you on the Press This functionality, but hopefully this still helps gets the ball rolling in a way that will make the event creation/editing process much less prone to user error for your team.
Cheers!

MemberHi Richard,
The search depends on whether you have created tickets for events. Have you created tickets for any of your events so far? If not, you can do that by clicking “Edit” on the event, then scrolling down to the “Tickets” section (screenshot) which will allow you to create tickets for the event.
If you’re not seeing the “Tickets” section in the event editor, please head to Events > Settings > Tickets and make sure that “Event” is a selected option for using tickets (screenshot).
Once those tickets have been published to the event, they will also be searchable in the WooCommerce order screen.
Cheers!

MemberHi Susanna and thanks for following up!
Yes, that is correct. Creating a button that links to the calendar’s RSS feed will indeed allow folks to subscribe to your calendar in an RSS reading application.
[…] and that would then have a constant synchronisation with the school calendar in a parents personal calendar, so when ever the school calendar is updated or amended parents personal calendars will update.
To be clear, RSS is different than calendar synchronization. RSS pushes content updates to a RSS reading application. Some calendar (and email) applications have an RSS reader built in, but I would say that is the exception rather than the rule. It’s great for knowing when new content has been published to a site but is not the same as pushing calendar events to someone’s personal calendar.
I would have thought this functionality was quite a standard/common thing and there would be a lot of demand for it from Events calendar users…
Yes, there is indeed quite a bit of demand for method to sync calendars but it’s not as standard or common as you might think and a lot of it depends not just on our plugin but what calendar applications are being used for those personal calendars and whether they support the ability to pull iCal content that is pushed to them. Not all of them do. 🙂
Let me know if you have any other follow-up questions about calendar subscriptions and I’d be happy to help as best I can!
Cheers,
