MemberHi Saif,
I’m sorry for the long delay, here!
Unfortunately we’re not able to take this one any further, I’m afraid — this is certainly custom development territory and beyond what we can typically help with.
Hopefully some of the ideas Trisha put forward will have been of use to you (and I understand you may have been talking about this issue with her outside of the forums and perhaps hit on some other approaches there) but if you still need further help with this it is probably best to seek help from a suitable performance-minded dev.

We have a list of folks we recommend (link above) and there are of course lots of others out there you might be able to recruit from WP-specific job/freelancer boards and so on.
Good luck with the project!

MemberThanks again for sharing the data. With that in place I had a much better insight into the problem and have logged a bug as a result — we’ll do our best to ship an update helping to improve things as soon as we can.
Barry
MemberThanks for confirming, John.
That being the case, I’m afraid the only viable approach would be to use multiple custom date rules, something like this:
- Initial event runs from Fri 27 Oct – Sun 29 Oct 2017
- Recurs once on Fri 26 Oct 2018
- Recurs once on Fri 25 Oct 2019
- Recurs once on Fri 23 Oct 2020
- …
Does that help? I’m afraid there is no ability to configure a single rule in quite the way you want, so something like I outlined here would be the only way I can think of.

MemberGlad you’re all sorted here π
I’ll go ahead and close this topic, but of course if we can help with anything else please don’t hesitate to open a new topic and one of the team will be only too happy to help.
Thanks!

MemberGlad you’re all sorted!
That’s an interesting thought re improved integration with the plugin you mentioned – though there are a number of popular plugins out there with comparable features (ie, they monitor changes and automatically setup redirect rules): I’m not sure it would be maintainable for us to support them all. We’ll certainly give it some thought, though π

MemberApologies for the delay, John — got the spreadsheet now!
So if I’m interpreting it correctly, there is just one event on the spreadsheet starting on a Saturday (“Event 6”). I tried to recreate this locally using the following rules:
- I created an event starting on Saturday 28 October 2017
- I set it to end on Monday 30 October 2017 (multiday)
- I set this to recur annually on the last Saturday of the same month
- I also ensured my settings allowed generation of events upto 6 years in advance
I identified 2020 as a year where the last Saturday of October falls on the last day of the month, yet even here it seemed to be scheduled correctly (31 October 2020 ending 02 November 2020). On that level, it appears to be operating as expected.
Is there anything I’m doing here that would need to be tweaked to see the problem you described?
Thanks!

MemberI’m afraid that’s not something we can do for you. Making a copy is usually pretty straight forward, though: do you have access to CPanel and the CPanel file manager via your hosting account?

MemberHi Sharon,
I had to pay someone to get that header menu item to link to the menu items because no one was helping me here so thatβs done.
Sorry to hear you had to resort to that.
In reviewing the troubleshooting steps, Trisha was only trying to gain clarity into the problem – we were and are happy to help as best we can.
I’m glad at any rate that this part of the problem is now resolved π
However, he couldnβt get the links to work on the front page when the calendar was pictured, so we just had to go with a list of events instead of the calendar.
Even after visiting your site I have to admit I’m not completely following you, here.
Can you distill this down a little more? Which links exactly were not working and what do you mean when you say that the ‘calendar was pictured’ — do you mean you tried configuring the calendar to display on the front page, via the options provided in WordPress’s Settings → Reading admin screen?
Thanks!

MemberThere’s definitely a bug here, Seth: I’ll get this logged and we’ll do our best to update you as soon as there’s news on the fix.
Thanks for flagging this and for your patience in the meantime!

MemberHi Steve,
Apologies for the delay!
Please do note, though, that the level of support we can provide for custom coding initiatives does tend to be on the limited side. With that said, here are some notes that might help:
- Your tribe_events_pre_get_posts callback looks pretty good, but you are trying to set the tribe_is_event_organizer query variable which isn’t actually supported – try setting organizer instead
- Note also that you need to provide the organizer ID, not just a plain piece of text – so you’re probably also going to want to do some work to convert the text provided by the user into one or more IDs
I hope that helps π

MemberHi Richard,
Thanks for contacting us – I’m sorry to hear you’ve hit up against difficulties.
You are of course already aware of the other topic you referenced: what I notice is, both you and Kevin (who created the other topic) are referencing the very same domain.
I’m not sure if that’s because you both work on the same site in different capacities (one of you as site owner, one as the developer, or something of that order – perhaps you could confirm?) but it’s probably best if we focus on just one forum topic rather than duplicate efforts across both.
Let me know if you have any questions on this π
Thanks!

MemberHi Kevin,
That’s really odd and not something I’m able to replicate right off the bat (nor am I seeing many comparable reports from other users). That makes me curious: do you have any customizations of any kind that target The Events Calendar in place?
Are you able to give our standard troubleshooting steps a shot?
Thanks!
