MemberOk, great – and thanks for your patience. We’ll do our best to achieve a resolution here in a future release. For the time being however I’ll close this thread.

MemberHi Fred,
It’s important to note straight away that the current release has a bug in relation to searching by location – so that would impact on the first of the following approaches but we hope to resolve this in our next maintenance release.
Basically though, if you perform a search by location – for Florida for example – you might end up with a URL like this one:
If you need to predefine a number of localities (ie, you don’t simply want users to use the existing Location search field and instead want a link to a calendar of events in Florida, or wherever) you could simply “capture” a number of these URLs and link to them. The Events → Settings → Map view search distance limit setting would of course impact on this approach.
Alternatively, depending on how much control you need, you might simply tag events by state/county/whatever works for you, then link to events in that tag archives.
It’s the sort of thing where there are a ton of different ways to do things, so really you’d need to define exactly what you are trying to achieve and go from there. While we can’t help much more than this with customization requests we do wish you luck and look forward to hearing about what you come up with!
Thanks!

MemberHi ifarrer,
I think the best starting point would be the options in Outlook itself, however I’m afraid I’m not familiar with that application and you’d need to research this one by yourself. To the best of my knowledge the iCal standard doesn’t allow us to define that data in any way that would indicate to Outlook it is intended to be pulled into an existing calendar, though if you are aware of anything here do let us know and we’ll look into it.
Thanks!

MemberHi Chad,
If you visit our widget demo (and, at this time, it’s probably worth moving it to November) and then click on a day containing one or more events you can see it updates the list of events right below the mini-calendar.
So, you’re right, those links do not take the user to a different page or event a different part of the same page – hence the # – but they are used to control the widget.
Does that answer your question/is that the same as you are experiencing on your own site?
Thanks!
Barry
MemberGreat!
Barry
MemberSure – we’ll revise this for a future release. In the interim you could remove that z-index property with a snippet like this one (which you could drop into your theme’s functions.php file, for example).
Barry
MemberI believe you need only install it and it will work its magic. It may not resolve this but it’s worth a try in the first instance.
My timezone setting is UMT +5:30 in Settings->General Admin. However this is a multicity site, hence across various subsites, it will have different timezones (all selected as UMT +/-).
Is this only a problem on certain subsites / with certain timezone settings then, as far as you can tell?

MemberHi Kevin,
I’d need your help to ensure all other plugins are deactivated: for testing purposes, can you remove the object cache drop-in that is currently in place?
Thanks!
Barry
MemberI’m sorry Arek, but we can’t help with that sort of custom development question. What you would probably be interested in here though is encompassing a query for meta fields such as _thumbnail_id in your parameters.
Sorry we can’t do more!
Barry
MemberHi Kevin,
You’re right and in honesty I’m not sure why it’s quite such a high value, but I can certainly check in with the team and ask. In the meantime though I can see a fairly straightforward path to reduce or remove that z-index property: what would you like to do here – remove it or reduce it (and to what)?
Thanks!
Barry
MemberExcellent, I’ll go ahead and close this then – thanks both 🙂
Barry
MemberHi Jason,
That doesn’t sound right. You can get a sense of what should happen over on our testing site (albeit we don’t have many actual featured images in our event data right now):
http://wpshindig.com/events/photo/
Can you provide a little more information – such as a URL where we can observe the problem and can you also indicate if you followed our basic troubleshooting steps (deactivating all other plugins and reverting to a default, unmodified theme)?
Thanks!
Barry
MemberHi Michelle,
It’s generally best to create a new thread of your own even if the original poster’s issue looks superficially similar since the cause of the problem could be quite different in your case.
Can I ask you to go ahead and create a new thread and complete the troubleshooting steps that will be suggested when you do that? This will also let you share your URL in confidence which could provide us with useful information.
Thanks! I’ll go ahead and close this thread.

MemberIt really depends on the scope of what you want to do: if you want to register a new view it would be a little more involved, if you want to create a custom view outside of the structure The Events Calendar offers then you could possibly get away with something like you’re suggesting.
ps. sorry for double post,
No problem at all – unfortunately, the forum is pretty terrible when it comes to handling code that users have posted, so it’s best to share via a service like Pastebin or Gist and drop the link in here.
This is very much a custom development issue though and regrettably we can’t help any further with it so I’ll go ahead and close this thread. It will be great to see what you come up with, though.
Thanks!
Barry
MemberWhat is your WordPress timezone setting set to (found in the Settings → General admin screen)?
