ParticipantHi we are having an issue on our site where the events list day isn’t changing until around 10am – 12pm. So on Wednesday it is still showing events from Tuesday until about 10am. (Not sure of exact time)
I suspected that it was a timezone issue of some sort. We have tried changing the php timezone to Brisbane, and our hosts have said that the mysql timezone is set to Brisbane but this doesn’t seem to have fixed it.
Also I have checked that the WordPress timezone is correct. Where else might the event calendar be getting the time from.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

MemberHi ngaire,
Are these long-running events? As in, do they run passed midnight (and if so can you share an example along with details of your event cut-off time setting)?
Can you also confirm if you have any sort of caching solution in place, be that a plugin or something that operates “above” the WordPress layer?
Thanks!

ParticipantHi Barry,
Thanks for your response.
The events aren’t long-running. It’s just showing the events for the whole day. See screenshot for example http://puu.sh/4W5uk.png it is showing Monday 21st October, but it is actually taken at 9:55am Tuesday 22nd October.
I have just discovered the exact time that it changes is 10am Brisbane time (as I assumed). Brisbane is UTC+10, so it is changing at midnight in UTC time instead of Brisbane time.
We have Cloudflare running and also WP SuperCache, however I really do not believe that this is a caching issue judging by the fact that it is changing exactly 10 hours later.
Appreciate your help 🙂

MemberHi ngaire,
So I’m slightly unsure at this point if you did indeed deactivate all other plugins and switch to a default theme or not – if you did, I wonder if you could repeat this and pay particular attention to disabling WP Super Cache (simply because, depending on how it has been set up, deactivating the plugin will actually not stop cached pages from being served – so please check in with the plugin author for details of dealing with this … the regular frequency of the change also makes me wonder if this might in fact coincide with a scheduled task clearing out the cache).
I can completely appreciate these sort of steps might not be ideal on a live site, though – so an alternative strategy could be to install a fresh copy of WordPress in the same environment and start off only with a default theme such as Twenty Twelve and our plugins. See if the problem still occurs and, if it does not, start building up by adding the various plugins you are using on your live site (and ultimately your theme).
Does that get you any closer to a solution?
Thanks!

ParticipantHi Barry,
we have tested it on a development server http://bktest.staticshiftwebdevelopment.com.au/blog/testing-event-calendar/ with all plugins except Events Calendar, Pro & Community. This is a different and also Twenty Twelve as the theme.
WP Super Cache has been completely deleted and it\’s associated code deleted from the .htaccess file.
Still the issue is occurring unfortunately

ParticipantNot sure what I was writing when I said “this is a different” lol. Ignore that

MemberWhat is your WordPress timezone setting set to (found in the Settings → General admin screen)?

ParticipantHi Barry,
That was the first thing I checked…unfortunately the WordPress timezone setting was correct http://puu.sh/4YWMo.png

MemberCan you try an offset instead (ie, instead of a geographic name like Brisbane something like UTC-5.3)?

ParticipantHey Barry, I tried that with no luck unfortunately. We’re running out of ideas :/

I’m going to discuss this with the team – in the meantime can I ask you to post back here with the System Information provided in the Events → Help screen? Thanks!

MemberHi ngaire,
First let me start by saying we appreciate your cooperation and patience so far. Unfortunately, we’re at a bit of a loss on this side – and this is not a widespread issue across the community. Added to which, the fact that you seem to experience it even with only our plugins running and nothing else does hint at some sort of environmental issue.
Sadly, at this time, we can’t really put more time into troubleshooting this one. That’s bound to be disappointing but reflects the reality of having limited resources along with the inherent difficulty of remotely troubleshooting something we don’t (and shouldn’t) have direct access to.
What I can say is, the next release incorporates a number of fixes that might just impact on this … as I’m sure you can appreciate that is not a guarantee at all, just a possibility, however at this stage I’m not sure there’s much more we can offer.
Thanks again for your support and understanding.
