MemberHi wickedsimple,
I’m sorry you’re experiencing difficulties.
Unfortunately I cannot replicate this: if I create an event taking place on January 7 (2015) and set it to recur every week ending on March 4 (2015) it works as expected. Here are my settings, for reference:

Does that match your own setup?
October 10, 2014 at 8:10 am in reply to: Recurring events bugs: Can’t be changed to non-recurring; fields can be blank #800828Barry
MemberHi Sean,
Thanks for reporting this: there are definitely some kinks in the system here and I’ll log them for further attention – our apologies for any inconvenience in the meantime.
I understand that a permanent fix might not be available in the near-term, but would it be possible to provide a temporary fix so it is possible to change a recurring event to non-recurring? That would also be a workaround for βfixingβ the blank recurrence field issue.
I can’t guarantee anything here, I’m afraid – if there’s a clear path to providing such a fix then it is of course more likely we will be able to do so.
These problems are undoubtedly going to be a nuisance when they crop up: I’m curious though if it is throwing up challenges you need to solve on daily basis – or if it is a problem that surfaces less frequently?
(Naturally we’re going to do out best to fix this as quickly as we can, but getting a “real world” perspective from a user such as yourself on how much impact this is having would be appreciated.)

MemberOK, so if I’m understanding you correctly your concern is with the number of lists that normally display below the mini calendar widget.
The number of events in this list is constrained by the widget settings: there is a field labelled number of events to show and you can increase this to any number you like.
Does that help/explain things? If not or if I’m still misunderstanding could you provide a URL (by private reply if you prefer) linking me to a live example? I did visit your site, but there were no links to list view: on fashioning a URL to take me there regardless I could see no sign of the calendar widget, so it’s hard to know if I’m interpreting things correctly or not.

MemberAh hah!
Thanks for your perseverance so far, Balazs. Unfortunately there is indeed an oversight in our code – we are trying to use the translated string for those URL slugs, but we do this before the textdomain is loaded.
I’ll log this as a bug and we’ll get a fix out as soon as we can. In the meantime, can you try uploading, installing and activating this plugin which will potentially offer you an easy means of resolving this until the official fix is delivered?
Thanks!
Barry
MemberOK, well great to hear it is resolved π
I’ll go ahead and close this thread – but of course please don’t hesitate to open new threads as needed if anything else crops up.
Also, if you have a moment to spare, we’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences with The Events Calendar across on our plugin review page. Thanks again!
Barry
MemberOK, the main thing is you figured out where the conflict is π
May I ask which theme (for our future reference)?
Barry
MemberIt’s worth a try, certainly – and yes it’s quite easy to do – just visit Events > Settings > Display and uncheck list view (and ensure something other than list view is selected as the default view) then save your changes π

MemberHi Teri,
Thanks for getting in touch π
I have a client interested in using the Free Events Calendar with Community Events. Am I right in understanding that I donβt need to Go PRo to use the Community Events add on?
That’s exactly right.
Both Community Events and Events Calendar PRO require our free plugin, The Events Calendar, to be installed – and though they run happily side by side you don’t need PRO to use Community Events.
Also my client bought another plugin recently and we could not get it to work even with the plugin creatorβs assistance, yet we could not get a refund. Just checking that if this should happen for some weird reason β would my client be able to get a refund?
We assess requests for refunds on a case by case basis, but we’re reasonable people and generally we’re more than happy to provide refunds if things don’t work out π
I hope that answers your questions but please don’t hesitate to let me know if I can help with anything else.

MemberHi srsackman,
Is it possible that you or someone else has used the license key on another site? Or might you have used it on a test site with a different domain, as well as the live site?
If so what I’d recommend is viewing the license key management page here at tri.be and disconnect the license key. Then, visit your site’s license key setting page and re-enter it.
Does that help?
October 9, 2014 at 6:36 am in reply to: Events Template not displaying properly unless using Default Events Template #798585Barry
MemberSorry to hear that integration hasn’t gone too smoothly for you.
It looks pretty good (to me) right now and it seems to be the Default Events Template that you are using currently. Is customizing that template to add a sidebar a possibility?
Our themer’s guide goes into more depth, but the basic idea is to copy templates from the plugin directory to your theme. In this for example you might copy:
plugins/the-events-calendar/views/default-template.phpThen place your copy within a tribe-events subdirectory inside your theme:
themes/your-theme/tribe-events/default-template.phpAdding the sidebar is potentially as simple as placing an extra line of code (possibly get_sidebar(), depending on how your theme is structured). Is that something you could give a try here?

MemberI’m not sure, honestly.
There was a difference between what you and I were seeing anyway – for me, so long as I ran the code some point after the init action (and tested against slugs rather than names) it retrieved the expected results, whether using a set of test events or with the database dump you provided.
So, really, pretty puzzling – but whatever the cause it sounds like you’ve cracked it which is awesome π

MemberHi, thanks for contacting us.
May I say first of all I’m sorry you’re experiencing difficulties: we’ll be happy to help as best we can.
I took a look at the URL you provided and navigated to map view. At least on first impressions, it seemed that the language setting was respected and I couldn’t actually identify any English-language text in that view:

Can you clarify what exactly I’m looking for here?
Thanks!
Barry
MemberHi mshane,
That makes perfect sense.
However, at this time the middle-road that you’re seeking doesn’t really exist.
You could certainly accomplish this with a set of customizations – you might for instance stick to a non-recurring event approach but set up some additional fields to specify the “true” start and end times for each day that it runs, and customize our templates appropriately to reflect this information.
We’ve got a great Themer’s Guide that covers the basics of such customizations but, I have to be honest, something like this is sufficiently involved to exceed what we can guide you through here on the forums and you’d need to be fairly comfortable making theme customizations in general to drive this forward.
Please also note that we are always keen to receive new feature requests (posting them across on UserVoice allows others to up-vote and comment on any ideas) so definitely consider adding a request for this. At this time, though, I’m afraid what you want isn’t quite supported by the plugin.
Does that at least clarify things?
Barry
MemberHi – I’m sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulties.
I’ve tried to replicate this but cannot. Here is what I tried:
- Set WordPress to use German
- Viewed the main events page and confirmed that the relevant strings displayed in that language
- Applied a filter
- Reset Filter Bar
- All of the same strings that had previously been translated still showed in German
Am I misunderstanding at all? Did you definitely follow our standard troubleshooting steps and deactivate all other plugins, etc?
Barry
MemberSure – but the problem you’re now facing is different, even so.
Also, though we make exceptions here and there, in the main we much prefer that you create a thread of your own rather than post in one created by someone else, even if the problem seems very similar, otherwise these threads can quickly become very unwieldy – particularly if multiple customers have subtly different problems and are at different stages of the troubleshooting process.
You’re more than welcome to link to and cross-reference similar or related threads, though, but it’s truly appreciated if you help us to help you by following forum guidelines especially when prompted π
As an update for everyone, we’re working hard to try and fix two distinct problems as quickly as we can:
- A conflict with certain datepicker libraries, which caused a general Javascript issue that happened to impact on maps
- A problem with the height properties of embedded maps, mostly impacting sites that have continually upgraded from one release of The Events Calendar/Events Calendar PRO to the next going several versions back
We hope to deliver these fixes as soon as possible and will re-open and update this thread as things progress: thank you all for your continued support and patience in the meantime π
