MemberOK, I’m happy to hear that.
Before I close this thread can I ask if you found this was the result of a conflict, or provide any other information that might be helpful to other users? It would be awesome to find out what was behind this š

MemberHi!
Before I move onto your licensing question, can you confirm that everything is working as expected with the list view/that the initial issue is resolved?
One question, when I added Events Calendar PRO to one of our sites, the existing events from The Events Calendar did not seem to ātransferā over and do not appear under āEventsā section in the WP admin area.
So adding a valid license key enables automated updates for the relevant plugin and access to support for that domain but it doesn’t trigger any import or export questions.
If you have an existing site where you are using The Events Calendar and go on to install and activate Events Calendar PRO on the same site then the same events should still be accessible – but adding the plugin to a different site won’t cause events from some other site with your license key to be “pulled across”, if that’s what you mean.
Is there an āimportā routine I need to run to get them to come over from your free plugin? Thanks.
You should be able to use WordPress’s own import/export tools – other than that, we do provide a CSV import feature but there is not currently a CSV exporter.

MemberAh, I see.
We have indeed seen this before and for some common themes such as Genesis and Canvas we even have a couple of fixes.
The basic problem in these cases is that the theme is taking the event page and turning it into an excerpt – which means it is both shortened and any markup (which is vital to the proper structure of our pages) is removed.
Sometimes this is triggered within a theme when it detects that a post type archive has been requested (ie, an archive of events). Would it be possibleĀ to reach out to the theme author and ask if that is the case here – and, if so, if there is a way to toggle or override this so that it doesn’t switch to excerpts within post type archives?
If they could even provide you with a basic starting point we could probably help you to refine it so that it only impacts event pages.

MemberHi Caro,
I’m sorry to hear you are hitting difficulties with this.
by the way the picker is not in āfrenchā format should be 03-01-2015 as in my settings
Just to clarify first of all: the datepicker format settings only apply to the frontend of the site. Within the event editor, the format is fixed (not so much to a US format, which would be more like 10/27/2014, but to the more generic yyyy-mm-dd format you are seeing).
When I create new events the dates that I pick up (2015-03-01) … donāt show up on my website as such but becomes 03 mars 2015 (in US format 2015-03-03). And I canāt change the date anyway the events are locked with this date.
That is strange and I can’t think why the date would “jump” or indeed why it would be locked in place.
YES, I’ve deactivated all other plugins to check for a plugin conflict.
YES, I’ve reverted to the 2011 default WordPress theme (with other plugins still deactivated) to check for a theme conflict. It looks like you already ran through our standard troubleshooting steps, can you confirm if that enabled you to identify any conflicts? Did this strange behaviour persist even with a default, unmodified theme and no other plugins running?
Thanks!

MemberHi there Max,
Sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulties.
I’m not familiar with Ceceppa Multilingua but it’s quite possible our respective plugins are both trying to achieve some of their goals through the same WordPress mechanisms – but just aren’t meshing nicely.
Unfortunately in this instance I’m not sure how much we can do to assist – when plugins deliberately modify URLs dynamically (as it sounds like happens here when you switch between languages) that can be quite a tricky thing to debug – and as you can imagine, there are lots of multilingual plugins that all do things differently.
On this occasion it may be best to reach out to the author of Ceceppa Multilingua for further assistance as I’m not sure there will be too much we can do to assist on this occasion.

MemberHi there – I’m sorry you are experiencing difficulties.
I understand different timezones come in incorrectly, which they shouldnāt if the plugin was coded correctly, but itās understood that they do.
I’m not quite clear in what you mean by this – if your site is using the same timezone as the events on Facebook there should be no difference when they are imported and, if they are set to some other timezone, they should cleanly be changed to the corresponding time in your local timezone.
This id /TheJukeboxExplosion/events
Import manually and all events come in with a time 1 hour later then they are posted as in FB.
…
These events are in the same timezone yet come in with the incorrect timeThat would certainly be a pain. On looking at the Jukebox Explosion page though I see a range of different timezones are in effect for there events. The first listed event for instance is set to EDT and the next to EST – could that explain the 1 hour difference?
Can you tell me specifically which event this is happening with, or if it is happening with them all?
Thanks!

MemberHi boaz,
Thanks for contacting us.
Those are some fantastic points and we’re certainly interested in doing what we can to make our plugin play nicely in an RTL context.
With regards to week view I will log the problem with week day order, and with the time displaying on the left – that definitely seems like an oversight and something we should address.
also, in the āmonthā view, event tool-tips on the far left are opened to the left and get cut-off (im assuming it was built this way because there is usually a left sidebar with the tool-tips are displays over. problem is, my side bar is on the right)
That is odd. We don’t assume the sidebar will be on any side in particular and I can’t help but wonder if we’re looking at a theme conflict or, perhaps, a plugin or custom coding conflict.
Can I ask if you see the same problem when using a default theme and no other plugins but ours running (though still of course maintaining the same language/locale settings)?
Let me know!
October 27, 2014 at 9:39 am in reply to: Duplicate Venues upon import from Facebook / how to dump all venues? #841012Barry
MemberHi efromdc,
I’m sorry you’re hitting difficulties.
1. When I import an event from facebook, the venues get duplicated whether the venue is already in the database or not. Not sure why. Ive spent a better part of the week going through the code and database and have no clue why its happening. Is there a way to add a unique condition to the database so that the venues stay singular if the data to be entered is PRECISELY the same as a previous entry?
This can happen if the venues are not truly the same venue within Facebook – it’s actually quite possible to have multiple different “venue objects”, each with their own unique ID, that happen to share the very same address.
We don’t really have a reliable means of differentiating between them as it is the unique ID that we use as the basis of testing if they have already been imported (or not).
Might that be possible here? If you have any doubt that this is the cause and want to explore it further we’d be happy to do so, but can you provide some concrete examples of the events/venues of interest (perhaps by dropping the relevant Facebook URLs in here)?
If this is the problem and you have no way of resolving directly on Facebook it would still potentially be possible to workaround it with some custom coding: the tribe_fb_parse_facebook_event hook could be used to run your own tests to detect if a venue with the same address is pre-existing and let you re-use it – so that could be worth exploring, though we’d need to leave such a modification in your hands.
Beyond that we would certainly be interested in taking this forward as a feature request if you’d like to post one: this will also let others show their support/comment further and give us a good sense of how much demand might exist for such a feature.
2) If I empty all venues from the database, what effect will it have on all previously existing events? Will all events function as normal but just seem not to have venues associated with them?
Yes.Ā The events should remain the same, albeit they will no longer be attached to a venue.
I hope that helps!

MemberCan you describe what you are seeing when you make that change? I’m not quite sure I can picture what’s happening based on your description (I did take another peek at your site and it looks like you are still on the Default Events Template).
Would it be possible to leave the Default Page Template enabled so I can see what you are experiencing, either on this site or a duplicate test/staging site if you have one?
Barry
MemberI can definitely understand that.
I do want to note though that this is something we need to spend a little more time reviewing and it’s unlikely any such change or fix will make it into our upcoming release, as the scope of that release has largely already been defined.
Nonetheless we will certainly look into this further and will aim to drop updates in here as we go. For the time being though, as there isn’t too much more I can add at this time, I will go ahead and close this thread (we’ll re-open to post updates as needed).
Thanks again.
