MemberHi adchealth,
That certainly seems strange – and, honestly, I don’t recall anything similar being reported before now.
Iโve tried to test for conflicts, but this issue happens so randomly, deactivating other plugins or using the default theme doesnโt seem to make any difference in testing.
I appreciate this, yet the very rarity of similar reports suggests there very well may be a conflict at work here (unless someone actually is manually creating them).
You noted this only happens with recurring events from a particular category: can you confirm which category that is? Have there been zero instances of this occurring with other categories, or is the category link more of a suspicion at this point?

MemberHi apmike,
Sorry to hear you’re having difficulties.
It looks like you are currently using the Default Events Template: I’m curious – if you switch things to the Default Page Template (via the Events > Settings > Display admin screen) does this improve things with regard to Mega Menu at all?
Let me know!

MemberHi kauffmaninc,
There is indeed a means of doing this.
One is to set up a filter on the widget_display_callback hook provided by WordPress: this provides access to three parameters – the instance array, the widget object itself and the arguments array.
Through one or more of those you can identify a specific instance of a widget and – by recording this in your code somewhere – conditionally load an alternative template (or conditionally include/exclude blocks of code in an existing template).
Does that help at all?

MemberHi there millcreekpark,
I’m sorry you’re experiencing difficulties.
Normally this only happens if there are not any further events to link to; but of course you’ve demonstrated that isn’t the case here.
YES, I’ve deactivated all other plugins to check for a plugin conflict.
YES, I’ve reverted to the 2011 default WordPress theme (with other plugins still deactivated) to check for a theme conflict. Thanks so much for giving those steps a try – just for the avoidance of any doubt, can you confirm that nothing changed after following these steps? Can you further confirm that – if you happen to be using a caching plugin – you fully cleared the cache?
Thanks!

MemberHi there Popville,
I’m sorry you’re experiencing difficulties.

It’s great to see you already tried running through some troubleshooting steps and I’m guessing this didn’t get you anywhere at first. I’m wondering though, would it be possible for you to run through our standard troubleshooting steps in their entirety (including switching back to a default theme)?
You could even do this on a test site to avoid impact on the live site. Is that possible here?
Barry
MemberOK, that makes sense.
At the same time, what you’ve documented here is in fact the expected behaviour and the plugin has been crafted over a number of releases to work in this form as the direct result of user feedback.
I can definitely understand your particular scenario though and imagine if we make timezone corrections optional this problem will be resolved. To that end, I’ll log an issue on our internal tracker for that purpose and we’ll look at the viability of implementing such an option in a future release.
I’ll link that issue to this forum thread and we’ll do our best to keep you updated as to progress ๐
Barry
MemberAwesome, happy to hear it ๐
I’ll close this thread in that case but of course please don’t hesitate to create new threads (on our PRO forum for instance) if you need any further assistance.
Thanks again!
Barry
MemberNo problem at all, happy to help ๐
Just for future reference we do have a list of Useful Resources over in the sidebar that includes our Themer’s Guide and some other commonly requested stuff, so that is always worth a quick scan (as is the Support dropdown menu at the top of the page). At any rate, I’m glad it’s all working and will go ahead and close this thread.
Last but not least we’re always keen to hear how we’re doing and how well The Events Calendar is serving your needs – so, if you have a moment to spare, it would be awesome to hear from you over on our plugin review page. Thanks again!
Barry
MemberOK – and just to get a better handle on this, can you run me through your typical workflow?
Are you for example creating an event locally (within your WordPress site) and using our plugin to push it live on Eventbrite? If so, are you subsequently adjusting the timezone on eventbrite.com –ย and finding the problem surfaces when next you update your local copy of the event?
Barry
MemberOliver: this should no longer be a problem – our default templates no longer link to empty days.
Barry
MemberHi Oliver,
Just to be clear – do you mean the presence of 404 notices when looking at a site from Google Webmaster Tools (or similar)?
