    Dear Mr. Douglas,

Thank you for using our plugins, what an honor! And welcome to the forums!

Indeed, with the Event Tickets Plus plugin, when a user purchases a ticket, they will receive the purchased ticket via email, that contains a QR code. Those emails can be printed.

So while I cannot offer or suggest you any plugin or extension that will allow you to create printed / hard copy tickets for your events, what you can do is :

    • Create the event and the ticket / ticket variations
    • Purchase them yourself. (This can be a valid purchase with PayPal or a fake one with Cash-on-Delivery, depending on what you want to see in your system)
    • Once you receive the tickets via email you can print them and sell them.

I know that this might not be the most user friendly solution, but I don’t have any better idea in such short notice.

Most probably it would be possible to develop a plugin or some customization that would make this process for you more optimized, however, custom developments like that are beyond our scope of support, I hope you understand.

I can share with you a list of developers who are well known names in the community, and who are not affiliated with us. I’m sure they could help you out with this project:

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/find-a-customizer/

    Thanks for your understanding!

Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

    Best,
    Andras

PS: I know this may sound weird, Mr. Douglas, but… I love your movies, especially Captain Nemo. Could I have an autograph?

    Hey Karen,

Thanks for using the Events Calendar.

Here in the translations forum, I’m afraid we do not provide technical support. I would ask that you take any technical support questions across to our wordpress.org forum – our staff scan it periodically and other community members may also be able to help out.

    The Events Calendar

If you have purchased a plugin from us, please login and post in the premium forums for that plugin and we can help you out there:
    https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/

However, to give you an idea on the solution, paste this into your child theme’s style.css file, which should do the trick:
    .tribe-events-month .tribe-recurring-event-child {display:none}

    Thanks again!

    Hey Laura,

Thanks for reaching out with your questions. Let me help you with them.

    1. To display events having the free version of The Events Calendar is sufficient. Events Calendar Pro is an addition to this, which will give you extra functionality, like recurring events, more calendar views, advanced widgets and so on.

    More details here:

    The Calendar is Loading Slowly

    2. To allow visitors to purchase tickets to the events / courses you will need Event Tickets (free), Event Tickets Plus extension and an eCommerce solution. Our plugins currently support WooCommerce, Easy Digital Downloads, Shopp and WP eCommerce.

For the eCommerce part, all of the core plugins there are free. And of course they also have premium extensions for which you need to pay, but those are not required, only if you need their functionality.

So to sum it up, this is what you strictly need:

    • The Events Calendar (free)
    • Event Tickets (free)
    • Event Tickets Plus (from $89)
    • an eCommerce solution (core is free)

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions, I’d be happy to help.

    Cheers,
    Andras

    Hello again Lindy,

I checked the site and indeed, for the details to show up the first time sometimes took 10-15 seconds or more. A bit curious. Thing. Personally I’m sitting in Europe but it still should be faster.

I checked your site on GTmetrix.com and the results are pretty much ok.

There are 2 things I can recommend for you to check:

    1. Switch to a default theme like twentysixteen and after clearing your browser cache (Ctrl + Shift + Del) check if they still load that slow. If they are faster, then there is something with the theme. If it is still similarly slow, then we can start digging deeper.

If it is still slow, then please run a test for conflicts based on this guide. This can help us eliminate any misbehaving plugins.

    2. You could potentially use a caching plugin like W3 Total Cache, WP Super Cache or WP Rocket. Or something like that.

I also reco to read this article which might give you some insights and ideas:

    The Calendar is Loading Slowly

Let me know the results, I’ll be waiting for them.

    Cheers,
    Andras

    Hi Lindy,

Thanks for reaching out! I’m really sorry you are experiencing issues with the search function.

I don’t really know of any tricks how it could be used better. I have tested it now on a local site and all worked fine for me. Only thing I can think of is that the number of events you have in your database is too much for the search function… but shouldn’t be I think.

Anyway, what I can suggest for the search and your other question as well, is the Advanced Post Manager plugin which is also developed by us and is totally free. 🙂 It works super well with The Events Calendar, gives you awesome filtering and sorting options. And you should be able to get the event numbers you seek. I’d say give that a go.

Strictly focusing on the search, you might look into this plugin:

    Relevanssi – A Better Search

I personally just found it via a search now, but it’s search features look good. This could be a search alternative if the Advanced Post Manager doesn’t work out for you.

Let me know if this helps or if you have any more questions.

    Cheers,
    Andras

To give you a bit more info I just quickly tested the plugin.

When a ticket order is placed, then the user will get the code from this plugin in the Order Email that is sent by WooCommerce. Also when marked Completed. The QR code in the Ticket email (which is sent by TEC) is still going to be the old QR code, and that ticket email is not going to contain this new QR code. So you might want to do some customization there, maybe not sent the ticket email or hide the QR code. We got snippets for that if needed, let me know.

Also make sure you read the documentation of that plugin to know what to expect and how you can handle the codes generated by the plugin.

    Hey Math,

Just keep the questions coming, we’ll help you to the best of our knowledge. 🙂

As for the WooCommerce Order Barcodes, I believe we have never tested that plugin but it should work. You will definitely need some customization work done.

Let me know if I can help you any further.

    Hey fibdes,

Thanks for using our plugins! I’m sorry you have having issues with the iCal importer.

What you desire was the initial intention of the iCal importer. Due to the many ways different apps handle iCal with recurring events, updates, deletions, it gets quite tricky to get it working properly unfortunately.

Some of the issues / bugs you mentioned we are already aware of and we have  bug ticket filed, so a fix should be on the way soon. I added this thread to the ticket to give it more push.

What I can mention on the good side is that we are releasing version 4.3 of The Events Calendar in the matter of 1-2 days, which includes our new importer, the Event Aggregator.

Basically the Event Aggregator has been built from the ground up, so it is a much more stable and robust solution. As fas as I know, users who have a valid license for iCal importer will get a kick at EA as well. So keep your eyes peeled for the update, EA might be the fix that solves it for you.

    Hey leehuffman,

I’m not quite sure if it’s possible to override a function. You would need to do that in the core file.

If you manage to implement a fix, would you be kind enough to share it with us?

Modifying the templates is absolutely possible. These guides should help you get started on this:

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/themers-guide/

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other question!

    Hey sparxoo,

Why exactly would you want to override the above function?

In case you need your own custom filter, you can create one and have your own ‘CategoryFilter’. This thread might help you out in that.

    Hello Rob,

    Thanks for hanging in there!

I tested your link and imported it on a local site which had the timezone set to Chicago. In this case the events imported with the right timings.

When I set the site to a different timezone (UTC), then the times of the events were different, but in a good way, meaning that the times were shown in local (UTC) time (e.g. GraceKids Ministry on Oct 15th at 11pm) which is the equivalent of current Chicago 6pm.

So the way I see it, the iCal export is working fine.

What is the timezone the app is using? Could that be the issue? Or the phone timezone?

    Hello sparxoo,

Thanks for reaching out with your questions. And that’s a tricky one. Please give me some time to ask one of the devs what they would recommend and I’ll get back to you asap.

    Thanks for your patience!

    Cheers,

    Hey Andrew,

Thanks for using our plugins and welcome to the forums!

And a big thank you for doing the plugin testing upfront, that is soooooooooo much appreciated, as it saves much time both for you and me! (There are so few people doing that upfront, you wouldn’t believe.)

If you found the conflicting plugin, then the best solution is not using that, or using an alternative. (Yeah, I know.)

I’m not so familiar with Better WordPress Minify, but if there is an option to exclude some scripts, then I would try that part. I’m not quite sure which script is handling that part, but try these:

    \wp-content\plugins\the-events-calendar\src\resources\js\events-admin.js

    \wp-content\plugins\the-events-calendar\src\resources\js\events-admin.min.js

Let me know if this brings you any further.

    Hello Joe,

Thanks for using our plugins and for reaching out! Wow, it sounds like a super interesting project you are working on.

I’m sorry to disappoint you, at the moment collecting attendee meta (like with Event Tickets Plus) with Community Tickets is not possible.

It might be possible to do it with some custom development, however that is way beyond what we cover in support.

If you think that is something you would like as a feature I encourage you to visit our User Voice Page and either upvote an existing request or make a new request there.
    http://tribe.uservoice.com/

You can also reach out to these guys on the following list. They are well known names in the community and might be able to help you out with custom development. And they are not affiliated with us.

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/find-a-customizer/

I’m sorry again for the disappointing news and thanks for your understanding.

Please, let me know if you have any other questions I could help you out with.

    Cheers,
    Andras
