What’s New: Single Event Redesign

Event-Single-Redesign

We are constantly striving to ensure our product always feels new and current for our users so that everything looks solid right out of the box. As a result, we decided to improve the appearance of our single event page when using the Block Editor. You’ll find all of the event blocks you’ve come to expect from The Events Calendar, but with a fresh, new look.

We’re slowly working to update everything, which started out with our updated calendar views, and the single event redesign is now the next step in this journey.

Below, we’ll break down all of the shiny new features that we’ve released with The Events Calendar version 5.10.0.

The Details

With a default WordPress theme installed, you’ll see an increase in the event title text size to make sure it stands out. We’ve updated the font and created additional space with dividers in between each of the event details so that it’s simpler for your users to read and it’s instantly mobile-friendly.

Next up is the venue data, which now aligns better with the single event’s Google Map. We’ve chosen to alter the event website URL colors to make it easier on the eyes. And what’s more, is that you can always change event block colors using the WordPress Customizer.

If you prefer to use the classic Event Details Block, you’ll find that the design matches the rest of the updated single event redesign. Hyperlinked text now remains the same color as the rest of the text so that it looks clean and legible. We’ve removed the old look that contained the grey background to match the styling of the new design. Whether you choose to use individual event blocks or the classic event details block, the styles will seamlessly integrate with your event page.

The Constant

If you decide that the single event redesign just isn’t for you, have no fear because you can still use the legacy designs! To do so, just add the following constant to your wp-config.php file and you’ll be back in business:

define( 'TRIBE_EVENTS_SINGLE_VIEW_V2_DISABLED', true );

What’s Next

For our Virtual Events customers, we’ve started work on adding Block Editor compatibility with online events. For now, users can integrate virtual events with the Block Editor by adding the virtual event placeholder block. This allows you to begin using the block editor to configure a virtual event. We’re continuing to work on adding full support for virtual events, so stay tuned for even more block editor compatibility. ✨
