Kylie, I spoke this over with our dev and we’re both sort of at a loss as to what this issue could be, without actually having backend access to the site. The blank screen indicates an error, so a good check would be to check your apache error logs right after you sees the blank screen and give us the stack trace, so we can debug. Think that’s possible?
RobMemberI talked with our developer John about this today, and it looks like we haven’t actually specified capabilities for the ECP custom post type; we’re going to plan on doing this for a future 2.x release though. Thanks for the heads up and apologies I couldn’t offer up more in the interim.
RobMemberHey guys, I talked to the developer about this today. Looks like you can pass a date format to tribe_get_start_date to make this happen.
RobMemberHi there. I talked to the developer about this, and he said it looks like you’ve got other Javascript errors on the page that are causing this not to work; looks like another plugin is doing this. You could likely identify which it is by just deactivating each plugin one-by-one to see if the issue persists.
RobMemberBruce: understood regarding the Genesis theme and the fact that you build on it; just wanted to check if this was isolated to that or a broader issue impacting custom themes. If you can set up a dev environment for me to take a look, it’d be great (since I’m unable to recreate any of this on my end). Have you also tried deactivating other plugins to see if this is a conflict with one of those?
RobMemberHi Cynthia. Thanks for the heads up on this. I was able to recreate the issue of the fixed-time range events becoming all day; looks like there’s a bug there, so thanks for catching it. We’ll make sure that’s patched for 2.0.1.
The one aspect I wasn’t able to recreate was getting it to revert back to “All Day” after manually fixing; after fixing it once it seems those changes stayed true across the board, even after visiting the settings page/plugins page/edit event page. Any chance you or your poster can provide me the steps they went through specifically to accomplish this, so I can test whether it too is a part of the same bug?
RobMemberHi Brad. What was the old version you were using, PRO 1.3.3 or TEC 1.6.5? Either way, the table-mini.php template does exist but it’s in the core (free) plugin’s VIEWS folder, rather than in the PRO version’s VIEWS folder. That help?
RobMemberAh, gotcha. Thanks for confirming – that’s not an option yet, unfortunately. We’re working on something along those lines that will allow for importing events into PRO, but it’s not quite ready for prime time yet. Stay tuned on that front.
RobMemberYou’ll need both The Events Calendar 2.0 + Events Calendar PRO 2.0 for those additional widgets; using just The Events Calendar 2.0 gives you some more limited widget options but not all the functionality of PRO.
Were these events migrated from 1.3.3 or 1.6.5? You should also try going to your PERMALINKS page; resaving it without making any changes; then removing and re-adding the widgets. This may help things too.
October 21, 2011 at 4:08 pm in reply to: upcoming events not showing up on the Advanced Upcoming Events widget #10011RobMemberHi Tracy. I see it’s working fine on the sub-page (the second link you included); have you compared the settings between the two widgets on Appearance –> Widgets, to see if there are any differences regarding how they’re configured? Is it possible that the first is set to just show events from a given category (and that category doesn’t have any events)?
October 21, 2011 at 4:01 pm in reply to: Events not showing when clicking into event from Calendar view #10007RobMemberHi Kylie. Thanks for sending this over; what you’ve provided here is very helpful. I’m admittedly at a bit of a loss on this one, as yours is the first case I’ve seen of this. I’ve asked our developer to take a look at this over the weekend so we can hopefully get you a substantive response for Monday. My apologies for the delay and inconvenience in the interim.
RobMemberHey Bruce. Hope you’re well. Just a heads up that I tested this on my end today and was weirdly unable to recreate it. Any chance you could try on a non-Genesis theme to see if the issue persists? Also, I recall you were testing on Genesis for us during the beta days…were comments working then, or had you just not tried them until now? Let me know and we can try to get this nailed down for you.
RobMemberHi Michael. Can you give me a use case of what you’re trying to do here? There are a few ways you can do this (showcase just events in a given month, showcase just events on a given day, etc) right out of the box – but if you’re looking for something more complex it may require a template override. Let me know what you’re aiming to do and I can try to guide you in the right direction.
RobMemberThanks guys. Adam, per Shane’s request I’ve got our developer looking into this over the weekend and should have a substantive response of some form by Monday. Stay tuned and thanks again for your patience.
RobMemberHey Chris. Before attempting the template override procedure, it might make sense to check out the Settings –> The Events Calendar page and play around with the different templating options that are available on the dropdown there (a couple are built into ECP, and your theme will likely have a couple of its own). You may be able to get the integration down smooth just by moving to a different one of those.
I do see the issue with the sidebar widget as well. We’re making a few tweaks to how that calendar widget operates for 2.0.1 (which we’re working hard to get out ASAP), so I suspect that’ll solve your issue there.
Let me know about the theme settings and if you still need help from there, I can get a dev to take a look. Thanks!
