MemberHi James,
That is a tough one. Have you tried this setting: http://d.pr/i/xdfk
I will ask the other team members if they know. I’m sure there is a plugin or a way to control all your Dashboard widgets out there – have you searched wordpress.org for anything yet?Joyce Grace
MemberHi Daniel,
About the time – we’ve noticed that events that happen in different time zones are showing up differently in The Events Calendar as on Facebook. This is noted in our queue of things to fix – but I’m curious to know what time zone you are in and what time zone the event happens in? The timing is very specific, and still is 6 hours long, so I’m guessing it is the same issue. If it is not, we will need to add to our list of things to fix!The phone field bringing over a Facebook event number is a new one for me. Can you link to the event you are trying to import and I will try to recreate the issue on my side? Does this happen with all events you import from Facebook?
About being able to pull the Facebook image, that would be an awesome idea to post in our feature request forum, which I see you already have 🙂 Thanks!
And by the way, you’re not a nag at all 🙂 You’re helping us find bugs, which we need to improve the add-on!

MemberHello James and Bob,
Thank you for posting this – and Bob thanks for trying to help! I see this is an issue, and it perplexes me too. I am going to try to get a higher level of support involved to see if this is something we can help you with.Joyce Grace
MemberHi Bob, could you help us out by linking to your site and letting us know the name of the theme you are using?
Usually if this is something that doesn’t happen on the freshest version of Twenty Eleven theme it doesn’t have to do with our plugin. However, we know of some themes in particular that don’t mesh well with our plugin, and we are pro-active in working with theme developers out there and providing joint solutions to our users. For example, we have a specific tutorial on integrating Genesis themes with our plugin: https://theeventscalendar.com/tutorial-integrating-the-events-calendar-w-genesis/
At any rate, it would help to know the name of the theme and to be able to see your site 🙂
Thanks!

MemberHello James, not sure what you mean by “globally” (other parts of the site where the dashboard widget shows? Or are you speaking of different widgets?), however, on your WordPress Dashboard, if you click on “Screen options” in the top right corner, you can uncheck the box that says “News from Modern Tribe.”
Hope that helps! Let me know if this is what you are looking for.

MemberI see. Yes, I think you are right about that. Since a “recurring” event is technically a duplicate with the date changed on a regular interval, your case would be a little different. In essence you are duplicating events with variations in date at irregular intervals, and just like trying to duplicate blog posts with some information being different, this is quite hard to automate. If it is a big time-saver for your company though, it might be worthwhile to hire a programmer to custom code this ability for you. Just a thought.
Thanks! Glad I was able to do whatever I could…even if it wasn’t much!

MemberHello Meredith,
Just so we can be sure we’re ruling out all the possibilities where problems usually occur, can you confirm that you’ve done all of the following?
1. Are you running the latest version of WordPress?
2. Are you running the latest versions of our plugins (2.0.7)?
3. Have you tried deactivating all other plugins to rule out a conflict?
4. Have you tried reverting to the Twenty Eleven theme to see if it’s something with your theme?
5. Try setting your permalinks to ‘postname’ in Settings > Permalinks?
6. Try refreshing your permalinks by visiting Settings > Permalinks (it does it automatically)?
7. Try increasing the PHP memory for your website: http://www.dailyblogging.org/wordpress/increase-wordpress-memory-limit/?Knowing that you’ve taken all these steps will really help us source the issue you for you. It is rare that weird quirks like this are not solved by one of the above steps.
Thanks!

MemberHello Ben,
I’m not sure exactly which elements you are talking about, but I’m pretty sure you are going to need to do some custom coding.
You will definitely need to check out our Themer’s guide to learn how to change this. It is important to set up your changes in your theme folder to protect against future updates (otherwise you could lose your changes when we release new versions).
Here is the link: https://theeventscalendar.com/themers-guide-to-the-events-calendar/
Let me know if this helps lead you in the right direction or if perhaps you have a specific thing you’re trying to do that is not found in our settings area that maybe I can help provide a better answer for.
Thanks!

MemberHello Vivek!
We have some help videos on recurring events, is this what you are looking to do?Intro to recurring events: https://theeventscalendar.com/pro-intro-to-recurring-events/
Custom recurring events: https://theeventscalendar.com/test-video/
Let me know if this helps!

MemberHello Tony,
Thanks for this message. To start with, I would recommend that some of these ideas be posted to our feature requests forum, since perhaps other uses are looking for the same thing, and we can keep track of demand for certain features there: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/events-calendar-pro-feature-requests/To get a drop-down going, you’d need to do some custom coding. The best place to start would be the Themer’s Guide: https://theeventscalendar.com/themers-guide-to-the-events-calendar/
We also have a documentation page here: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation
For the categories, I would recommend checking out these two tutorials we have that might help you find a way around organizing your many events:
Customizing our widgets (which can filter upcoming events by category: https://theeventscalendar.com/how-to-completely-customize-widgets/
Colouring category events: https://theeventscalendar.com/coloring-your-category-events/
Our support doesn’t go as far as being able to help you customize, but we can help steer you in the right direction as much as possible. I hope this helps!

MemberHello Kyle, does this happen on the latest version of Twenty Eleven theme for you?
Joyce Grace
MemberHello Tony, I can feel your pain. I had a look and you’re right, there’s no setting to disable recurring events. It might work to take the field out of the template, but I’m going to ask some higher level support if there is a more finesse solution to this. Hang tight!

MemberHello Phil, thank you for reaching out. I just wanted you to know that we got your message and I am going to get someone to help you out soon, since I’m no expert on .po or .mo files, unfortunately 🙁

MemberHi Caleb, this is a tough one. The Calendar is meant to flow by date. You could create categories and separate your recurring events from one-time events that way. Then you would need to do some coding to get non-recurring events at the top of your archive pages. Not that I have any idea what theme you’re using, but I know that Genesis has a plugin called Genesis Simple Hooks that could probably do this for you very easily, if you look up their hooks.
A compromise solution would be to use WordPress menus to link to specific category archives in your navigation menu. Then use our Calendar widget to display upcoming events from a particular category in the sidebar. You can then use Widget Logic (a plugin) to determine what pages of your site the widget will appear on.
But yeah…otherwise I would say your best bet is to check out our Themer’s guide: https://theeventscalendar.com/themers-guide-to-the-events-calendar/
I hope that helps! Do let me know if there is any other advice I can offer!
