    Hey Ran,

If Gold and Platinum users are users at different WP User Role levels, than yes, within your admin you can limit access to event creation and such.

However, this is a general WordPress question, not something related to The Events Calendar specifically, so there isn’t much that we can help with specifically here. Basically, if your “Gold” and “Platinum” users are at the “Editor” user role on your site, they could edit events, but if they’re, say, at the “Silver” level and you make them “Subscriber” instead of “Editors” on your site, then they won’t be able to.

There are many variations and possible configurations here, so definitely read up about WordPress User Roles and capabilities to learn how to best configure your site.

    Cheers!

    Hey Tom,

Thanks for reaching out. You described your goal as this:

It wouldn’t need to automatically map using title or anything like that it would be a unique URL that I would enter for each course.

From the sound of things, wouldn’t just manually entering the link at the top of your post content for events, then writing the rest of the content beneath it, work here? If not, why not?

If you want a custom field or something where you can specify this link, your best option is to use the “Additional Fields” feature within PRO, which you can learn about here → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/pro-additional-fields/

Let us know if that helps!

    Hey Jesper,

    You asked:

Do you plan to add the possibility to sell tickets for community-submitted events without admin having to manually add the tickets?

Yes! We are actively working on this. Unfortunately, there is no ETA to share at this time.

Since I’ve responded to Sonia’s questions here and yours as well Jesper, I will close up this particular thread, but if either of you have other questions, feel free to open a new thread at any time.

    Thanks!

Andy’s solution above may help, and tweaking the code I suggested might help too – if you’re not familiar with doing so, check out a free tool like Firebug if you use FireFox, or the Developer Tools for either Safari or Chrome and learn to use their “Inspector” tools – these tools will let you zoom right into a specific link or element on the page whose CSS you can then see in full for customization.

With all of that information in mind, and since this mostly boils down to a customization from here forwards, I will go ahead and close up this ticket for now.

Best of luck with your customizations!

One last question 🙂 – what version of Gravity Forms are you using on your site?

We will investigate this and see what we can find. Stay tuned!

    Hey David,

Sorry for your troubles here. Just to be clear, the page you’re seeing these problems on is at http://www.uvalltogether.org/happenings/, right?

That’s the page I checked out, and I noticed the behavior you described. I expected to find JavaScript errors, but none immediately popped up – and while the “day” links in your mini calendar widget did not work, the “Previous”- and “Next”- month links did.

Unfortunately, the only troubleshooting step I can of for this problem is to try activating a default theme like Twenty Twelve on your site – then, add the widget in the sidebar again and see how the links behave. And see how the widget fits within the sidebar – because, in your last question, you asked about how to control the width of the calendar widget. The widget should take up all the available space of your theme’s sidebar, so this is another thing dictated by and limited by your chosen theme.

We might be able to help with some custom CSS for the widget width, but first we should try to get it working properly. Let us know what you find by activating a different theme – and, indeed, if simply changing themes doesn’t help you should expand your debugging to include the steps outlined here → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/

    Thank you!

    Hey Sonia,

Sorry for my confusion about your use of the word “Dashboard” – if you have Community Events installed on your site, then users can submit events from the front-end without being in the admin.

As for selling tickets for community-submitted events, users cannot create tickets of their own at this time – they can submit an event with an Event Cost field, but to actually create a ticket for sale you would then have to log in to your admin, go the event, and manually approve & create the ticket for sale and save the event.

Unfortunately, we could not help with any customizations.

If you haven’t already, I’d definitely recommend checking out the full Community Events product page – check out the video and screenshots and such for a better overview of how everything works. https://theeventscalendar.com/product/wordpress-community-events/

Let me know if this information helps! 🙂

No worries Ronaldus, thank you for the update! And for testing that other status on your site – this reveals some very odd behavior, and there may a bug here that is worth investigating more closely on our end of things.

In the meantime, do you think using the “Pending Review” status would be a workable temporary solution on your site until we can figure out what’s going on with the “Draft” status?

One last thing you could try would be to see, when you take a Pending Review item and save it as a Draft after it’s already been submitted in the admin of your site, if it then saves correctly and is viewable/editable/etc in your admin. This would reveal if the problem is stemming from the submission handling specifically, or something else deeper on your site.

Thank you so much for your patience and for your willingness to test stuff Ronaldus!

    Hey David,

Thanks for reaching out to us about this. There are a few specific questions I have about your needs before I can properly address them:

First is what you mentioned here:

We would be selling sets of tickets (digital download) with different sets for each download.

Can you clarify exactly what you mean by “Sets of” tickets? The way EDD Tickets works is that, basically, if you have a single event, you can create individual tickets for that event. One ticket for $10 for children, a full-price one at $25 for adults, and maybe another discounted one for $15 for senior citizens (as a quick example). Each different price in this example is a separate ticket, but all attached to the same event – is that what you mean by “Set”? Or something different?

    Next, you mention this:

Does your ticket solution allows automatic allocation of a random digital download and ensure it cannot be purchased twice for a specific event?

Ensuring a ticket can’t be purchased more than once can be handled by either setting its “Stock Count” to “1”, so that only one ticket is available to buy, or elsewhere doing some custom code with EDD itself.

However, “automatic allocation of a random digital download” is something I admit to not understanding 100% clearly. If you mean that you want several different tickets to actually exist for an event, but only have one ticket randomly available for purchase on page load (and every time you refresh the page, a different ticket randomly loads), then this would be possible with some custom coding.

If that isn’t what you mean, describe things in a bit more detail and we can hopefully provide a better answer here! 🙂

One thing that should help a ton is to spend some time on the EDD Tickets page itself, if you haven’t already. You probably have, but in case not, be sure to check out the primer video and screenshots and such here → https://theeventscalendar.com/product/wordpress-eddtickets/

That should give you a good sense of and feel for the add-on, and while those materials don’t show everything in the add-on, they show most of the functionality and most of the ticket/display-related things that are relevant for your questions here.

Let us know what you think!

    Thanks,
    George

    Hey Marc-Andre,

Sorry for your trouble here. The essence of your problem comes down to the fact that The Events Calendar does not actually generate a proper WordPress page at the main “/events” URL (or, in your case, “/calendrier” :)).

This may seem odd, but it’s actually a smart decision we made to make sure that our calendar works best as a feed of events, especially when there are a lot of them, and to ensure the best functionality possible for all of our date, time, and view filtering.

So the “/events” or “/calendrier” page is sort of “faked” within WordPress by our plugin, and there is not an actual page in the admin that you can edit for this page. If you have manually created a page to try and do this, delete it.

To add information before the calendar, or after, head to Events > Settings > Display in your admin. Scroll to the bottom and you should find fields like in this screenshot → https://cloudup.com/cVHPL4FEjx7

Adding content there should get it to display before your events are listed. Let us know if this helps!

    Cheers,
    George

    Hey @Sebastiaan,

Sorry you’re having some trouble here. From the sound of your ticket, it may be because of what you wrote in your second sentence: “I’m trying to create a monthly recurring event.”

If you are literally using the “Monthly” recurrence type option, then this will not work.

But it should work fine if you use the “Custom” recurrence type – I just tested this on my test site and it worked as expected.

As an example of how this “Custom” recurrence type would work, see the following screenshot for reference → https://cloudup.com/cyXt4mRMWz5

If you are using a configuration like that already, and still failing to get this to work, let us know!

    Thank you,
    George

    Hey Sonia,

Thanks for reaching out to us about this. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to nail down exactly how you’ll be able to implement things on your site. The main reason why is because of what you wrote here:

I am interested to be able to allow people to list their events, in a personal dashboard, by themselves.

This feature is itself a customization that you will have to make, so your ability to integrate with your WooCommerce add-ons like Commissions and Client Ratings is almost entirely up to how you code that feature (or whoever codes it, if you hire someone for example).

The only place where The Events Calendar and its WooTickets add-on come into play, as far as I can think, would be the actual tickets themselves. However, each ticket made with WooTickets is a WooCommerce “Product”, which you can see in the admin of your site, so as long as your solution and those other WooCommerce add-ons work fine with WooCommerce “Products” (as they all essentially do, or should!), then The Events Calendar + WooTickets themselves should work fine with your customizations.

As for translating things, yes, you can translate either your entire site with WordPress’ default language settings (in Settings > General in your admin) or you can offer multiple languages on your site with the help of a translation plugin out there. There are many options, we do not officially support or recommend/endorse any one plugin but there are known problems at the moment with WPML.

I hope this information helps! Let us know if that’s the case or if you have any other questions or concerns 🙂

    Cheers,
    George
