GuestHi,
Your ticketing solution looks really interesting and it could be what we are looking for.
We are looking at integrating a solution to either EDD or WordPress to sell unique digital downloads for our charity events (similar to a lottery system to increase donations). It would be as follow:
1 event every month. We would be selling sets of tickets (digital download) with different sets for each download.
At the moment, the issue with EDD seems to be that we need to have 1 product for each download but with hundreds of tickets, it’s hard to manage. Does your ticket solution allows automatic allocation of a random digital download and ensure it cannot be purchased twice for a specific event?
Cheers,
David

ParticipantHey David,
Thanks for reaching out to us about this. There are a few specific questions I have about your needs before I can properly address them:
First is what you mentioned here:
We would be selling sets of tickets (digital download) with different sets for each download.
Can you clarify exactly what you mean by “Sets of” tickets? The way EDD Tickets works is that, basically, if you have a single event, you can create individual tickets for that event. One ticket for $10 for children, a full-price one at $25 for adults, and maybe another discounted one for $15 for senior citizens (as a quick example). Each different price in this example is a separate ticket, but all attached to the same event – is that what you mean by “Set”? Or something different?
Next, you mention this:
Does your ticket solution allows automatic allocation of a random digital download and ensure it cannot be purchased twice for a specific event?
Ensuring a ticket can’t be purchased more than once can be handled by either setting its “Stock Count” to “1”, so that only one ticket is available to buy, or elsewhere doing some custom code with EDD itself.
However, “automatic allocation of a random digital download” is something I admit to not understanding 100% clearly. If you mean that you want several different tickets to actually exist for an event, but only have one ticket randomly available for purchase on page load (and every time you refresh the page, a different ticket randomly loads), then this would be possible with some custom coding.
If that isn’t what you mean, describe things in a bit more detail and we can hopefully provide a better answer here! 🙂
One thing that should help a ton is to spend some time on the EDD Tickets page itself, if you haven’t already. You probably have, but in case not, be sure to check out the primer video and screenshots and such here → https://theeventscalendar.com/product/wordpress-eddtickets/
That should give you a good sense of and feel for the add-on, and while those materials don’t show everything in the add-on, they show most of the functionality and most of the ticket/display-related things that are relevant for your questions here.
Let us know what you think!
Thanks,
