    Hey Julia,

Thanks for reaching out. I wanted to follow up on this ticket to confirm that we are actually aware of this bug separately, and are trying to fix it as soon as we can.

If all goes to plan, we should be able to publish a fix for this in the next 2 weeks or so. But it may take just a bit longer depending — while it may seem like a simple thing to fix, this script touches a lot of aspects of our plugin so we need to test it thoroughly if we replace or update it.

We’ll mark this thread “Pending Fix”, which means that we’ll post an update once the fix is available.

I’m sorry for the trouble here — your patience is much appreciated while we work on this!

    Sincerely,
    George

    Hey David,

Both extensions indeed rely on current versions of The Events Calendar and Events Calendar Pro being installed, but as you noted, since you have cleaned up all of your erroneous exclusions we can move on for now.

One of our team members was able to reproduce your problem with the Extensions not showing up, so it does seem like there’s a legitimate bug here with these custom Tools and we will work on this separately to try and prevent this from happening in the future or with other tools.

I am very sorry about the trouble with that here—we intended the tool to be useful and to make your life easier, not add to the frustrations you were facing with the exclusions!

Thanks so much for your continued patience and for testing/assisting here. Best of luck with your site David, please open a new thread any time if other issues arise.

    Cheers,
    George

Hey David, sorry for the trouble there. I wrote this little cleanup tool and cannot recreate this problem, but am happy to figure out the issue so we can hopefully get this working on your site.

To help us troubleshoot, can you please post your site’s complete, un-edited system information to this forum thread? Here’s how to do that → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/

You may be using outdated versions of The Events Calendar and/or Events Calendar Pro. So updating those things to their most recent version, along with WordPress itself, may be the best bet.

And also please note that we highly recommend making a complete backup of your database before updating plugins on your site, or using a cleanup tool like the one shared here. The chance of any data being erroneously damaged is very low, but it’s better to have a backup and not need it than need a backup and not have it, so please do back up your database now if you haven’t already.

    Thanks,
    George

    Hey James,

I wanted to post an update on this because we have devoted serious resources to trying to suss out the exact cause of this bug.

We have consistently failed to reproduce the bug, and so there is unfortunately no action we can take to fix it. This is a confusing issue and I am very sorry about the lack of a clean resolution on this!

For now, all we can recommend is to use the latest version of all software on your site, from WordPress Core itself to all of your plugins and your theme. Next, it may be worth doing a “Clean installation” of our plugins on your site, which means the following:

    • Back up your database first. The next steps should not affect any event data at all, but better to have a backup and not need it than need a backup and not have it.
    • Delete — not just deactivated, but delete — The Events Calendar, Events Calendar Pro, and any related plugins from your site.
    • Update your version of WordPress to the latest version if it’s not already there. (Currently, that version is 4.8.1)
    • Download fresh zips of The Events Calendar, Events Calendar Pro, and related plugins from your “Downloads” page here → theeventscalendar.com/my-account/downloads
    • Install those fresh zips on your site, and then activate those plugins.

We cannot recreate the bugs reported here, and no other folks are reporting them, so the issues may be emerging from your site itself or from conflicting code within our plugin files. The above steps may help address that.

I wish you the best of luck with your project, and if we hear from more folks about these sorts of bugs, we will certainly reopen the investigation and try again.

    Sincerely,
    George

in reply to: CSV Upload Not Updating Existing Events #1330975

    Hey Hyla!

It sounds like you’re trying to use our CSV import tool as almost a “bulk-edit” tool. In other words, for example, it sounds like if you import a CSV file of events one time, you want to then be able to edit the CSV events en masse and then re-import the CSV file. And then the already-imported events in your wp-admin will modify themselves accordingly, incorporating the changes from the CSV file.

Is this correct? If so, then unfortunately our CSV importer will not function in this way and you will not be able to get this to work other than how you currently find it.

If this is not an accurate summary of how you’re trying to use our CSV importer, then my apologies for misunderstanding your goals. In this case though, can you please do both of the following things?

    1. Post your site’s complete, un-edited System Information according to the instructions found in this article → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/

    2. Upload your CSV file somewhere where it can be downloaded, then share a link to this place so that we can download that CSV file and test it out ourselves.

↑ These two steps will give us information that should help us figure out what is going on here.

    Thanks,
    George

Hey Trish — thanks for reaching out and for your interest in Events Calendar Pro.

You will NOT lose your events once you upgrade!

To be clear, you do not “replace” The Events Calendar with Events Calendar Pro — when you purchase Events Calendar Pro, you install and activate it alongside The Events Calendar. It adds the pro features to your existing calendar and site, so you leave The Events Calendar activated and all of your events remain totally intact!

Please let me know if this helps and if there’s anything else I can try to help with.

    Cheers,
    George

    Hi Ryan,

I wanted to confirm that this issue has been fixed within our plugins. Any current version of Event Tickets and Event Tickets Plus should handle any “special characters” without issue now.

    Cheers!

    Hey Andreas,

    Thanks for reaching out.

I apologize for the delayed response — we took some additional time here to investigate and test the Underscores theme ourselves, to ensure there’s not a bug here.

The Underscores theme is a major part of the WordPress theme standards these days, and is in fact the basis for core themes like Twentyseventeen itself. So we wanted to be absolutely there’s no bugs with that!

I was unable to find any such bugs, and had no issues with applying custom CSS or with having the CSS of the calendar rendering.

Since I could not recreate any issues, and since Underscores is the basis of Twentyseventeen itself, it stands to reason then that something specific and unique to your custom code is the culprit in the issues you are facing.

We are unfortunately not able to help troubleshoot custom code, so you will have to take the reins on investigating your own issues, but hopefully this helps narrow down the search a bit.

    Hello!

I’m passing through to mention a conflict between Events Calendar Pro’s Photo View and the X Theme.

That conflict is likely a part of the problems mentioned in this thread. We identified the conflict and the X Theme team is working on a fix within their theme code — there is not a specific release date for this fix yet, but it should be arriving fairly soon (e.g. a few weeks from the date of my posting this message, if all goes according to plan).

Please be sure to update your copy of X Theme whenever new update available, so that when this fix is finally released in the theme code, you get your hands on it as soon as it’s available.

Stay tuned to X Theme updates!

    Thanks,
    George
