I’m not one hundred percent certain, unfortunately—to help me see that button in action, so I can answer this with certainty, can you link to a location on your site where the FREE button is visible? I’ll take a look and see what it is.

    Thank you!

    Thanks for sharing this, Daniel!

I took a look but was unfortunately not able to piece together a solution here for getting things to align in a different way. 🙁

The thing is, I think a higher resolution for your images makes the most sense given the width of the page; if you want to float images left or right, instead of taking up the whole width of the page, then you can use the built-in WordPress alignment features when adding an image in the editor (Google these features if you’re not familiar with them here as I mention them).

If you want the images to be full-width, then I cannot think of a better solution here than higher-resolution images.

As for the video embeds—these, too, are a bit tricky to work with. Your theme would have to dictate their shape and positioning and all of that, either with CSS or more likely with responsive-design JavaScripts like FitVids.js….

I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to provide more direct recommendations here, but I hope that bringing these issues to your theme author yields some progress.

    Sincerely,
    George

Sorry to hear this @David—I’ll be roping in some developers on our team to help me investigate this odd behavior!

Thank you for taking the time to investigate other plugins and the theme and such.

One thing you mentioned stood out to me here:

I reverted to a daily backup before the update to the calendar.

What versions of the plugins are running in this daily backup version of your site? Share the “system information” of this specific backup version of your site if possible, or if different from the information you already shared….

Thank you for your patience here! This is an odd issue that we’ve thus far been unable to recreate, but I can assure you that we’re trying to figure this out.

    Sincerely,
    George

Glad to hear about some progress here, Ken.

This comment stood out to me as possible relevant:

to cause the calendar to appear on the “home page” for the site.

Our plugins unfortunately offer basically no support for the calendar being the actual site home page. We’re working on this, but at this time it’s hard to successfully pull off such a configuration of things, and the lack of proper configuration within our plugin for being used as a home page could indeed have been a factor with your site’s search engine rankings.

Just sharing some thoughts—let me know if you have any further thoughts on this of your own! Otherwise I can go ahead and close up this ticket.

    Thank you,
    George

    Hey Matt,

That sounds like an error that is arising from some other location, because I cannot get that error in my own testing no matter what I try. 🙁

I would recommend bringing this issue to your web host—they might have some settings on the server level of things that relates to media uploads here, or might be able to see errors in the error logs.

I’m sorry to recommend this at this time—I just unfortunately cannot reproduce the problem and no other steps in the investigation have yielded back useful information regarding the potential source of the problem.

    Thank you for your patience!

That’s a sentence we can—and will—clarify for sure. Sorry for the trouble here.

There is unfortunately no solution for the issue with price discrepancies at this time. Event Tickets Plus is the only active codebase, so if you switch to Event Tickets Plus and the problems persist, then a full-on bug investigation can be done because that codebase is active so bug fixes can be released.

WooCommerce Tickets is no longer active so no bug fixes will be released so there is no avenue for correcting this problem if WooCommerce Tickets is the active plugin. 🙁

    Sincerely,
    George

    Thank you for clarifying this!

I cannot reproduce any problems with that field and saving data in it. Can you test for a theme/plugin code conflict here?

To do that, try all of the steps on this page → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/

After EACH STEP in that process, try changing the currency symbol in that option again and see if anything changes in the behavior of the problem.

What happens when you try this?

    Thank you!

Thank you for all of this information!

What you describe here is a correct summation of the WordPress “cron” jobs:

I’m assuming the way it works is to delay the import for the scheduled duration (e.g. 1 hour), then wait till someone visits the site, and then to perform an import when they do. Is that correct?

So what you describe here seems to be the culprit:

    3) Currently no traffic at all. The site is under development.

You ask about setting up a “true” cron job through your cPanel, and this indeed may be possible. It’s something you’ll mostly have to work out with your web host directly; but from our end of things, it’s a bit tricky to do this programmatically outside the context of the plugin actions themselves. But I would recommend diving into your Facebook Importer plugin files to the class Tribe__Events__Facebook__Importer.

Tinker around with methods in that class like create_local_event(), and you might be able to pull off something more automatic and more “true” cron here.

    Thank you,
    George

I couldn’t find the events page, @hugo, no worries. Now that I can find the page I see the tooltips.

You’ll have to take the reins on all further tinkering and styling, but here’s CSS to ensure that the text is visible in the tooltips:

    .tribe-event-description p {
    color: #000 !important;
    }

Drop that into the bottom of your theme’s style.css file and you should be good to go.

Best of luck with your project!

    Hey Brendan,

Glad to hear about some progress here. These are the only two pages Community Events generates/provides:

http://www.example.com/events/community/list — The “My events” page.
    • http://www.example.com/events/community/add — The submission page.

The login form is the default WordPress-generated login form, so yes you can technically customize, but no it’s not related to (and thus not customizable from within) Community Events.

The login form is generated by this WordPress Core function → https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_login_form

So to alter it and add new information to it and such, you would have to customize code or hire someone to build out those customizations for you.

    Sorry to disappoint!

    Hey Christina,

Apologies for the delayed response, we normally try to issue a reply once every twenty-four hours at least.

You asked this in your reply:

Does that mean if I purchase the plug in it would only work with our English site but not for the sites in other languages?

    • If you have WPML active on your site, our plugin will not work with it. This does not matter whether you have only one language, English or otherwise, or if you have many languages on the site. If WPML is active, then calendar features may break.

    • If you do NOT have WPML activated on your site at all, then you can use The Events Calendar and any add-ons for it without issue.

    • Our plugins DO support being translated into one language, so you can use our plugins in English, OR Spanish, OR French, etc.—you just cannot use WPML to try and pull off having the calendar in English AND Spanish for example.

I hope this clarification of some things helps! Let me know! 😀

    Hey Justin,

Thank you for your feedback. Avada does some non-standard things that break WordPress coding conventions, and while this is fine, the onus is on the folks who break the norms to deal with the problems they cause by breaking the norms.

If the shortcode works fine in a standardized, normative theme like Twenty Sixteen, then Avada is the location of the problem. We do not make the code for Avada so unfortunately cannot dive into the code to troubleshoot the problem.

We do our best to maintain support for “norm-breaking” themes, and theme frameworks, like Genesis for example—and Avada, too, as well as other popular themes like the Divi theme. But issues like this one can arise despite that.

Your best course of action here is to contact the Avada theme folks for support—I’m sorry for the trouble here but hope this response is clear and honest, and helps you move forward with your project.

    Sincerely,
    George
