ParticipantHi, khjoy. I know it’s been ages, but we’re trying to get to the bottom of this and we’re having trouble reproducing the behavior.
Would it be possible for you to let us download your theme’s files for testing purposes? That would be super helpful.
Thanks for your patience!
Kelly
ParticipantHi, chrisnewell4444. I took the time to test this out now, since you caught me just in time.
It turns out I was able to import a new event into your site exactly as expected. Here are the two events:
http://educationforresults.com/newasamembers/wp-admin/post.php?post=1331&action=edit
https://www.eventbrite.com/event/8737559275
(You’ll notice there’s an error at the top of the event page, but that’s only there because I removed my API key. It wasn’t there before.)
All that said, it looks like your site is configured correctly. I’d encourage you to double check your API key and ensure that there are no spaces that might be gumming up the works. Maybe try creating a fresh event in Eventbrite and try the import again.
Let us know how it goes! π

ParticipantThanks for getting back to me so quickly, chrisnewell4444. I’ll let you know when I’ve had a chance to do some testing. π

ParticipantHi, conwin. Since you haven’t yet responded, I’m going to consider this thread closed.
If you’d like to pursue this matter further, please start a new discussion thread and reference this one. π We’re always happy to help!
Kelly
ParticipantThanks for confirming that, chrisnewell4444.
I’m wondering if as a next step, you could create an account for me on your server where I could try to connect with my EB User API Key. That might be a nice clean way to test it within your environment.
If you’re game, please respond via private reply with the URL, username, and password. I should have time to test later today or first thing tomorrow, depending on when I hear back from you. π

ParticipantHi, ablesocial. I definitely understand why this would be important to you.
The checkout process is handled by the WooCommerce plugin, not The Events Calendar, so that’s why the fields aren’t helping.
Unfortunately, this is not really our area of expertise. The WooCommerce Tickets plugin allows integration between The Events Calendar and WooCommerce. Whatever options are available to you in the WooCommerce checkout should also be available for the event tickets you create.
That said, we do know that in the past people have had success with a third-party plugin that provides similar functionality. See this thread for details: https://tri.be/support/forums/topic/adding-extra-names-when-multiple-tickets-are-purchased/#post-46080
If you do decide to investigate it, please understand that we canβt offer support for it directly; you would need to work with that developer. Also, it was written for an older version of our plugin, so it may fail in unpredictable ways if it hasnβt been updated.
Hope that helps!

ParticipantHi, Kat. I’m glad that we’re making progress, even if we’re not all the way there yet. π
I agree that it’s possible that the issues with the original post may have to do with this being a duplicate. Did you try with a new event?
Also, I see that I failed to ask you earlier if you had tried this in a WP default theme like Twenty Twelve or Twenty Thirteen with all plugins deactivated except for TEC and Eventbrite Tickets. Have you had a chance to do that? If so, did that change the behavior?
Thanks for your patience while we get to the bottom of this!

ParticipantOne more thing, mrsreeder. It’s worth noting that you’ll need to make sure that Jessica’s snippet lives only in one or the other functions.php file, not both. Defining a function of the same name twice would definitely gum up the works.

ParticipantHi, mrsreeder. The child theme’s functions.php file is loaded before and in addition to the parent’s functions.php. That means that you only need to put open/close PHP tags and your new code in it. Please see this Codex article for a detailed description: http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes#Using_functions.php
Please let us know how it works! π

ParticipantWow! That all sounds really frustrating. I’m sorry this is proving to be such a tough nut to crack.
You definitely don’t need anything installed on your site other than TEC and the Eventbrite Tickets add-on. Have you tried to import an event with one of the default WP themes and only those two plugins activated? Did it make a difference?
Kelly
ParticipantThank you very much for following up, Kat. I’ll be here to help with you’re troubleshooting when you’ve tried that.
Best of luck!

ParticipantHi, Kat. Sorry to hear you’re having issues with the Eventbrite add-on.
I’d like to point you to a couple of threads that appears similar to yours.
Would you mind checking out their Answers and seeing it either of those resolve your situation? π
