OK – can you try adding both start and end dates, to see if that helps with this?

Hi guys, sorry first of all (Neil) for the delayed response. We’ve been under a lot of demand in terms of requests for support so we haven’t been quite as fast to answer as normal, for which we apologize.

To give you the background, The Events Calendar is pretty much following the practices laid down by WordPress itself here – an archive (whether an archive of all events in a single day or in a particular month) is being requested and is empty. In comparable circumstances – albeit dealing with posts – returning a 404 status is also the course of action taken by WP itself.

However, we do recognize this isn’t quite the same situation and it’s not necessarily an ideal course of action here. For that reason, this is being filed as a bug and since we’re now back into the swing of releasing regular maintenance releases we should be able to get a fix in place for this sometime very soon.

Widget links, bottom center of footer do not link to anywhere

I believe this is a known bug with the latest code – we’re literally working on a tidy up version at this very moment and so, hopefully, a fix should be available imminently.

Events page link in nav is not going to active state …On single page event view both Event link and Blog link are highlighted.

Both of these are closely allied, I think. Can you tell me anything about your theme? Is the menu a custom piece of work or is it the default mechanism as provided by Roots?

The reason I ask is that the standard menu walker (as used for instance in a default theme like Twenty Twelve) isn’t affected by this issue, so far as we can see.

I know you stated that you experienced the contrary and I’m unsure why that would be. How is your menu constructed – how did you add the link to the main events page, for example?

    Thanks!

    Hi hubsaltlake,

I’m very sorry that we missed this. We’ve had exceptionally high demand for support and unfortunately this thread fell through the cracks. This absolutely isn’t the norm and we do strive to answer every thread within 24hrs of it being posted (weekends excepted).

Clearly that didn’t happen here – but hopefully we can now assist with your problem and get things on track. Please bear with me a little longer while I look at this one.

    @chrisbehnke
: please do feel free to monitor this thread and try out anything that we suggest to hubsaltlake – however we do encourage you to create your own thread if you find the problem is different or a solution that works for hubsaltlake doesn’t work for you.

    Thanks!

Hi David: yes that is an upgrade bug, and one that shouldn’t happen again – unfortunately it related to code already in circulation and there wasn’t really any way to avoid it. We do apologize for the inconvenience, though – and are glad you fixed this.

Dominik/Sam: I just want to clarify where we are and what problems are outstanding here:

    * ‘Page not found’ is showing in the page title (does this only occur when you go, for instance, to view a month that does not contain any events?)

    * There is still a conflict with the permalink editor – however I’m not too sure to what degree we can help here. The Events Calendar adds its own rewrite rules and these would need to be respected, it may or may not be beyond that plugin to handle this but I’m afraid I can’t really assist much further with that.

I’m glad you were able to get back to a point where you’re happy – and we definitely take on board what you are saying.

WordPress does make updating plugins a very easy process and so that can make it tempting to just click and go – but as with all other plugins and indeed any piece of software it is definitely worth checking up on expected changes, especially where there is a big jump in version number, before taking that step (and taking the time to backup so you can restore things if it all goes awry, as of course you have done 🙂 ).

Trying to maintain backward compatibility, even a “skin” that looks like the previous version, would actually have been a tremendous amount of work and would have changed the price point of the plugin by a large margin; but I’d definitely agree some means of communicating the scope of the changes before users hit update could have been useful.

At any rate, it sounds like you’re all good now and that of course is the main thing 🙂

    Hi ginamwgallery,

We can’t unfortunately help with every single customization request.

First and foremost, in terms of official support, we want to help people use our product – that is, work through any confusion about how the system operates and make sure it’s working ok within their hosting environment. We also collate – and where possible try to help with – reports of bugs.

When it comes to customizations, however, though we’re happy to generally push people in the right direction and often do more than that we do have to draw a line somewhere.

There are already examples of adding the ticket form to the event list (and other The Events Calendar-generated views) on the forum however this request is slightly different in that you want to loop through all of the events and provide add-to-cart buttons on an arbitrary page not generated by The Events Calendar.

There are actually many ways to do this and I just don’t know enough about your or byronclinic’s use case to provide a great deal of further information. Tell me more about what you’re envisioning and what you’ve looked at or tried already and if we can offer suggestions we will – but that doesn’t mean we’re going to build your customization for you 🙂

Great! So you’re all sorted on this one?

    I see.

Well I suspect that may be neither the result of your theme’s stylesheets nor those of our plugin. Did you copy and paste that text from another source such as a word processor document, email or another website?

It has a number of inline style rules (which take precedence over those in stylesheets) and one of those is setting the text color to black.

If you are unsure what I am talking about then the best advice I can offer is to edit the text again (switch from HTML to plain text mode) and wipe what is there – replacing it with a “plain text” version.

    Does that help?

Hi lliquori, I’m sorry to hear that.

The link you posted seems not to have come through (unless you removed it after posting) and the URL provided when you opened the thread seems not to work.

If you still need assistance can I ask that you post the URL once more (using our private reply facility if you prefer)?

    Thanks!

Right, well I do see what you are getting at but, at least with the current structure of WooTickets, it would be a lot of work to represent events that way within the catalog (not that it’s impossible altogether, just somewhat tricky).

Please do feel free to post this as something for future consideration over on our UserVoice page – if others also show interest in this then we’d definitely consider it:

    https://tribe.uservoice.com/forums/195723-feature-ideas

And of course you could always consider hiring a suitable developer to implement this for you. On this occasion though I’m afraid there isn’t much else we can offer on a support level.

There’s a good chance they will have changed – you could certainly paste your old rules in and see what does/doesn’t stick then take things from there.

There are no security issues in 2.0.11 that I’m aware of, though I believe a number of performance enhancements were packed into the current release – also note that the support we can provide for the 2.x series will be minimal going forward, nor are fixes likely to be issued for any problems that do spring up.

You know, it sounds as if Community Events simply isn’t at the latest version – though I know you checked that already. I have asked for a member of the development team to assist here so let’s hang tight and see what that brings.
