Hi Andrew: we’ll happily consider any feature requests you might make, but please post them here or, if you see a similar existing request, do feel free to add your support to that instead. Thanks!

I can’t think of a way to use different templates for different views without any coding, I’m afraid. You’d really need to set a template that meets your basic needs then add something like a switch statement to load specific templates from there, based on the type of view being requested.

This seems to have changed with the very latest release. If you can bear with us, we’ve got an issue logged for further investigation and will update you as quickly as we can.

Hi! Can you link to an example of the calendar widget on your site? I wasn’t able to find one (or do you mean the main month view itself, ie at /calendar/month/?) Thanks for confirming!

Unfortunately it’s a limitation of the current recurring event mechanism that you cannot change the description or other attributes of an event that’s part of a larger chain. Doing so, as you’ve discovered, actually splits the ‘chain’ in two. So say you have recurring events as follows:

    • Feb 1
    • Mar 1
    • Apr 1
    • May 1

Editing the Apr 1 instance to change the description (and hitting the button to apply the change to the current and all future instances) will actually split it into one chain of two original, unmodified events:

    • Feb 1
    • Mar 1

Plus a second chain with your modified description:

    • Apr 1
    • May 1

This is by design, but we are investigating a different approach that will allow individual events within a recurring sequence to have different descriptions, venues, etc – though that is still in the design phase at this time.

OK, so I was thinking of the following tutorial:

    https://theeventscalendar.com/using-the-stub-plugin-to-create-new-views/

It doesn’t cover exactly what you are asking, but should give you some ideas about building something that meets your own needs. Hope that helps!

That’s certainly something we’re considering (shortcodes to embed the calendar on arbitrary posts and pages) – and we’d encourage you to post a suitable request on our UserVoice page – or add your support to any existing requests.

    Thanks!

I think some team members were preparing an example of adding a new view, which might give you a few ideas. Bear with me and I’ll see if there is a link we can provide.

Week view is a comparatively complicated view. I’ve no doubt what you want is possible but I’m afraid it isn’t something we can help with at this time – but please do create a feature request (or add your voice to a suitable existing request) over on our feature request page, we will certainly consider changes to make this sort of thing a little easier in the future:

Can you provide a link so I can observe this for myself? I couldn’t locate the main events page via the URL you provided when you opened the thread. If you could also post your System Information as provided in the Events → Help admin screen that would be great. Thanks!

Just checking in: do you still need help here and can you provide the information requested in my last post? Thanks!

I’m struggling to think of a reason for this beyond there either being a conflict or a customization gone wrong (perhaps a snippet you are using that uses the tribe_events_event_schedule_details filter or a different but related hook), though of course switching off all other plugins and reverting to a default, unmodified theme ought to catch just that.

Would it be possible in this case to install a fresh copy of WordPress – perhaps in a subdirectory – and initially install just our plugins then see if the same thing happens. If it does not, try adding all of the other components (your theme, your plugins etc) that you have on the live site one-by-one, testing at each stage. This is of course essentially the same troubleshooting steps but in reverse, but might help us to catch something that was missed initially.

If of course you can replicate the same problem at an early stage, such as with just our plugins and a default theme, please let me know so I can take a look while the test site is in that early phase.

    Thanks!

How are you getting on here Andreas?

OK, well unfortunately if it’s related to the volume of recurring events then there isn’t really much we can offer you in the short term. You might wish to discuss things with your host and ensure query caching is enabled – which could help – but it may be that, realistically, you need a hosting package with a little more ‘grunt’.

We are aware of some performance issues, especially with large numbers of recurring events, and are working hard to improve the situation but there isn’t a quick fix we can offer up I’m afraid.
