MemberAwesome that you found a fix!
I did try to deactivate all plugins and then reinstalled them all 1 by 1 this morning. Same thing happened with all my plugins disabled. What would be different between your and mine then?
Difficult to say. A setting somewhere or a piece of custom code?
So i actually paid a developer to take a look at this because I needed a fix pronto, and all that needed to be done, was the search bar in the admin section had to be disabled!
Again, really great you’ve got a working solution š
I do want to highlight though that this would tend to bear out my earlier suggestion of a polyfill script impacting on things (that is, a piece of Javascript that in this case was inserting the actual word Search into the search field – hence the 404s since you probably had no events containing that word in the title or description).
So, yes, reverting to the “classic” header instead of the Tribe bar will certainly avoid this since there will be no search field – but I do want to be clear that this does not suggest there is a fault with the Tribe bar (or specifically with the search field within the Tribe bar) and for that reason I would not agree that this be added as a standard step in our instructions.
The important thing of course is you have a solution you’re happy with and with that in mind I’ll go ahead and close this thread – of course if we can help with anything else please do post a new thread or threads as needed.
Thanks!
Barry
MemberOK great – there’s not too much more we can add in that case so I’ll go ahead and close this thread – and we’ll definitely take note of your feedback re the contact form layout.
Thanks!
Barry
MemberOh I see, yes you could definitely be on to something there. That being the case and with reference to Brook’s update this would seem to be unrelated to our iCal support. Are you happy to continue progressing this with Brook over in the other thread?
Barry
MemberI do appreciate your view point and again would encourage you to post on UserVoice if you’d like to describe enhancements you are keen to see in this area š
We can leave this closed – but to sum up: yes, you would need a working knowledge of WordPress development to make this sort of change.
While you may not have that knowledge I felt it best to share the name of the appropriate hook since that would potentially save time for any developer you might engage to do this work and indeed could be helpful for other users coming across this thread.
Modifying core files gives me the heebie-jeebies especially when done on an active, live site.
Absolutely – and rightly so. However I would like to clarify one more thing as your above note could be misleading to other users: we’ve made it possible to change the nature of the related posts query using filters, so you would not need to modify core files at all. I’d certainly agree though that making and testing out changes on a live site is generally not a great idea – working locally or on a remote test/staging site is preferable for sure.
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and I’m sorry to hear the related events functionality isn’t quite working out for you, but we’re certainly open to considering any changes you might propose.

Barry
MemberDefinitely – and I’ll add a note to that effect on our issue tracker so the assigned developer considers that. Thanks again!

MemberHi!
No, that’s not quite correct – we’ve made it filterable so it can indeed be changed and customized to meet different needs, as described, without for instance needing to rebuild the logic entirely or even modifying core plugin code.
That said, it’s certainly true that there is no option in our settings at this time which would let you do this in a point-and-click type manner and you definitely would need some knowledge of WordPress development to use this approach.
Does that clarify things?

MemberI wonder if the currently installed version has for some reason a different directory name and that’s throwing a spanner in the works …
Do you feel comfortable working via FTP or your hosting control panel’s file manager (if it provides one)? Would you be able to navigate to WordPress’s wp-content/plugins directory, locate and delete the existing Events Calendar PRO directory then upload the new version that way?
(If you upload it in .zip format, be sure to unzip it – CPanel like control panels make this pretty easy.)
Does that help here?

MemberHi @crack00r,
Great question!
I don’t believe the iCal format specifically supports venue locations – that being the case I think this is something where you might need to do a little customization and perhaps work the address into the event description or excerpt.
Does that help?
Barry
MemberHi @umediagroup,
Thanks for reporting this and please accept our apologies for any disruption it has caused.
It certainly looks like a bug to me – I can replicate the very same issue locally. I’ll get this logged and we’ll keep you abreast of developments, though do note it may realistically be a release or more away before we work a fix in here.
Thanks for your patience and support in the meantime.

MemberHi @buerobayer,
I’m sorry to hear you are hitting difficulties with the importer.
I cannot get the right format to import that file so I thought it would be the best way to actually EXPORT a CSV-file to see what the file should exactly look like. Is there a way to do so?
If you mean can The Events Calendar export data in CSV format the answer is no, not at this time. Besides being UTF-8 format, there is nothing particularly unusual about the form of CSV the importer accepts – just regular, comma-delimited fields optionally with a header row, like this:
title, description, start time, start date, end time, end date Basketball Contest, Semi-finals, 10:00, 2014-03-01, 14:00, 2014-03-01 Tennis Club, Practice, 16:00, 2014-04-02, 18:00, 2014-04-02We do also have a new user primer relating specifically to the CSV importer that you may wish to review.
Does that help?

MemberHi @popperoni,
I’m sorry to hear that you are hitting up against difficulties here.
Thanks also for deactivating all other plugins to check for a conflict. Can you confirm if you also switched to a default, unmodified theme such as Twenty Twelve at the same time (or can you do so now) and did this resolve the problem?
It certainly sounds like a conflict of some sort here.
Let me know if that helps š
January 23, 2014 at 6:45 am in reply to: Converting Post Type to Organizer Replaces Original Title with Unnamed Organizer #96051Barry
MemberHi @funinjerusalem,
I believe this does indeed relate to a known bug – however it is on our tracker and is a high priority, so we hope to resolve it as quickly as we can.
We generally don’t provide support for third party plugins (and we’re not familiar with Convert Post Types code) which makes providing a specific fix a little tricky here, but certainly if you have other organizer posts to convert you might try adding a snippet like this to your theme’s functions.php file and see if that helps to avoid this issue, though, I can’t offer any guarantees I’m afraid.
Apologies for the inconvenience.

MemberHi @theresajennings,
We’re still working on the Filters plugin and it should be released shortly, however I’m afraid we can’t provide you with a specific or even tentative release date. If you haven’t already seen it you can get a sense for how things are progressing and get a flavour of what’s to come by viewing this blog post.
Also, it would be nice when I go to the contact form to ask a question that I not have to fill in the form before Iām directed to the forum.
It definitely ought to be as easy as possible – but I’m not quite sure what you are referring to here. Do you mean the site URL, plugin version, WordPress version fields etc that are included on the Start a New Discussion form?
