ParticipantHello,
Total novice here so I apologize for lame questions. I updated all my plugins (including free calendar) and then wordpress gave this message: “The following plugins are out of date: Events Calendar PRO 2.0.9. All add-ons contain dependencies on The Events Calendar and will not function properly unless paired with the right version. Want to pair an older version?” So, I paid to update to latest Calendar Pro but when I try and install it the message reads that I already have it (i.e. the old 2.9 version). What do I do? Delete the old version and install the new one?
Will that erase my entered data?January 23, 2014 at 6:25 am #96036Barry
MemberHi @mwaldhorn,
No worries, those aren’t lame questions by any means.
It sounds like perhaps you are trying to upload the same version of Events Calendar PRO as is already installed but, essentially, if you are running The Events Calendar 3.3.1 you will also require Events Calendar PRO 3.3 – hence the warning notices.
If your license key has been entered correctly you should be able to update PRO automatically by visiting the plugin admin page – if that isn’t the case, or you are hitting difficulties there – you could alternatively grab a copy from our downloads page and install it manually, which should ensure that the correct version is on your server.
You shouldn’t lose any data, but we would always recommend making a complete backup as a precaution (and, of course, you need to be aware of how to restore that backup).
Let me know if that helps at all!

ParticipantHey, thanks for the reply!
Unfortunately I’m still having issues. When I update the plugin from the admin page it says it updates successfully but is still at version 2.0.9. So then I downloaded 3.3 manually from the downloads page. But when I go to install it I receive a message that the “destination folder already exists /nfs/c06/h02/mnt/156798/domains/kirby.org/html/wp-content/plugins/events-calendar-pro/”. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for you help!

MemberI wonder if the currently installed version has for some reason a different directory name and that’s throwing a spanner in the works …
Do you feel comfortable working via FTP or your hosting control panel’s file manager (if it provides one)? Would you be able to navigate to WordPress’s wp-content/plugins directory, locate and delete the existing Events Calendar PRO directory then upload the new version that way?
(If you upload it in .zip format, be sure to unzip it – CPanel like control panels make this pretty easy.)
Does that help here?

ParticipantWe’re getting this too “The following plugins are out of date: Events Calendar PRO 3.3. All add-ons contain dependencies on The Events Calendar and will not function properly unless paired with the right version. Want to pair an older version?”
Are we supposed to click the link “Want to pair an older version?” or take some other action (and specifically what action)?
