That’s certainly something you could investigate and see if you could leverage the same code – but it is unfortunately still something not directly supported at this time. We would absolutely be receptive to any feature request you might make, though.

Hi! I’m sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulties – can I ask you to run through the following steps:

    • Please ensure The Events Calendar/Events Calendar PRO are up-to-date
    • Deactivate all other plugins
    • Switch to a default, unmodified theme such as Twenty Twelve
    • Visit the Settings → Permalinks admin screen (you need change nothing though – just visiting this is sufficient to make WordPress refresh its rewrite rules table)

With that done, do you still hit the 404 issues?

OK, I see what you’re saying.

However, really this is a side effect of the theme you are using. The Shindig theme is (I believe) based on Twenty Eleven, so though it isn’t generally available in its modified form there is no reason you could switch to Twenty Eleven and make your own theme based on that – and since that maintains a fixed width layout you ought to be good (and indeed any theme with a fixed width layout is likely to meet your needs).

    Hope that helps!

Thanks for clarifying: so I’m still unsure of how you changed the title – but assuming for the moment you did this by means of a translation it’s worth bearing in mind that both Filter Bar and The Events Calendar use different text domains and the translation would need to be made in both cases.

For the avoidance of doubt, can you confirm how you implemented your change?

Right so Kelly sees the issue, but you can’t – does that not say something? What is different on Kelly’s machine and yours

Unfortunately Kelly isn’t around for me to confirm due to circumstances outside of her or our control (though I certainly will do so as soon as I can), but my reading was that she could see the problem on your site, not on her own – hence her request that you try things out with a default theme. Ordinarily, if we can replicate ourselves on a stock install – and it looks like a legitimate bug – we’d deal with it as such and let you know that we would be progressing it as such immediately.

Have you tested this plugin with the default WordPress 2013 theme, as that’s what we are using.

Yes, that is what I tried. I’m sorry if I misunderstood, but prior to taking over this thread I noticed you had stated:

We are using 2013, but i haven’t had any time to actually test the plugin with an out of the box default theme.

And that seemed to imply that although you are using 2013 it is not without some modification – added to which the link you shared http://www.modburyteam.org/whats-on/2014-03/ doesn’t lead me to a site that appears to be running a stock Twenty Thirteen installation. If I did indeed misunderstand, please accept my apologies.

Kelly said that she was raising the issue with her colleagues – what was the result. I am sorry if this sounds a little dour, but I am getting the feeling that I am having to do all the chasing.

The result is that I took over this thread and made my own assessment – which was that this seems to be specific to your installation and that you did not seem to have run through our complete troubleshooting steps. At this point then, based on your feedback, it seems like that may have been incorrect. I appreciate further delay is going to be frustrating for you, but that’s where we are at. For the avoidance of further doubt can you confirm that you still see this problem:

    • With a default and unmodified copy of Twenty Thirteen
    • With no other plugins running except The Events Calendar/Events Calendar PRO
    • That those two plugins are current and up-to-date

I can definitely assure you we want to help and we don’t want to go around in circles any more than you do, but I do hope you understand the source of confusion and can confirm the current situation. We’ll definitely then do what we can to move this forward.

    Thanks!

Yes: you should be able to adjust inventory via the WooCommerce order editor if you prefer to increase inventory that way. Does that answer your question?

Hi Michelle: which payment gateway are you using – does this also happen with cheque/check payments for instance?

    Hi Sean:

it looks like i was not completely clear on filters and hooks. looking through the docs and there are 2 different links i have found,
    https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation/
and the one you gave me http://docs.tri.be/

Right, so the current and up-to-date technical docs are to be found at the second of those links. The first relates to our earlier 2.0.x releases and was left online for those users who still build or maintain sites using that branch. We definitely are still working to flesh out our current documentation, as it sounds like Rob suggested.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>i was thinking i could remove the last $html variable and it would overwrite anything in tribe_events_before_html but this seems to break the page. should i include a closing tag or something rather than just deleting the variable?</p>

So it looks like you don’t have a return statement in your second revision of that snippet: generally speaking filter functions need to return a variable.

If the first version worked for you there’s no particular reason you shouldn’t just run with it: our own event categories are simply a regular WordPress custom taxonomy and so there is plenty of documentation in the Codex you can refer to if you want to investigate a different strategy like referencing the slug or ID – but really that’s beyond what we can help with as it’s very much custom development territory.

It does look like you’re on track though which is great and so I’ll go ahead and close this thread.

    Good luck 🙂

    Thanks for your patience.

Right now, without a more extensive workaround, you would need to limit yourself to adding custom input elements (rather than a select or other form element). We’ve updated the tutorial to reflect this and will be addressing this limitation as quickly as we can.

If you do need to use a select element then there are certainly a few options like adding an additional hidden input and populating its value according to the state of the select element … but we’d need to leave you to work through that (if it’s necessary) and, again, we’ll get this fixed in a future release.

    Thanks for reporting!

I do apologize inhouse – you’re absolutely right, I meant to link to: http://pastebin.com/Vmhv7gJj (and will update my previous reply). Sorry for the inconvenience – and let me know if that works, at least as a temporary measure until we can address a few shortcomings in the actual template tag.

Hi – thanks for getting in touch.

    1. The ability for users to subscribe to the ENTIRE calendar, rather than single events. After they subscribe, they get weekly emails that include a list of the next two weeks worth of events. We can also send an immediate email if we need to, or turn the reminders off for a period of time, like during the summer months when school is not in session.

This is not quite facilitated by The Events Calendar/Events Calendar PRO. As a customization though it wouldn’t be too hard to achieve. Support for a regular RSS feed is supported however, via WordPress itself.

    2. The ability to upload a list of email addresses, so that at new students enroll each year, we can easily add all the parent email addresses and remove old ones ourselves, rather than hoping that parents will take those steps.

We do not provide any tools to manage subscriber email addresses or anything of that order – and don’t plan to do so at this time.

I hope that clarifies things, but please let me know if we can help with anything else.

    Thanks!

    Hi inhouse,

Looks like you’ve hit on a bug with tribe_get_embedded_map() – I’ll make a note for us to revise that. In the meantime, though not ideal, you could add this code to your theme’s functions.php file and then use the embed_tribe_venue_map() call as a workaround:

    embed_tribe_venue_map( 800 );

It also accepts optional width/height parameters:

    embed_tribe_venue_map( 800, 500, 300 );

Sorry for the inconvenience  – we’ll aim to fix the actual template tag as quickly as we can.

    Hi eastbayaa,

I’m sorry to hear you’re hitting difficulties.

In the first instance can you take a look at the Filters & Columns controls which display above the list of events: please hit the Clear button, navigate away to a different screen then return to the events list – can you now see the events?

Hi bangerkuwranger – great question 🙂

That’s not something which is supported at this time (and may not currently be facilitated by the Eventbrite API) – so we’d definitely be open to any feature request you might post along these lines however at this time you’d need to implement any special features like that over on the actual Eventbrite site.

    Does that clarify things?

    Hi Wilf,

Community Events allows users to submit events without accessing the dashboard/admin areas – out of the box it can optionally lock things down so only authenticated users are allowed to make submissions and/or moderation can be enforced by making the default post status draft (or something else, depending on what you feel is suitable).

Beyond that, things like adding layers such as different tiers of users with different levels of moderation, etc, are not supported. It certainly has been built expressly with customization in mind though  – there are plenty of filters and action hooks if you’re familiar with that paradigm of WordPress development – so there’s no reason you couldn’t build what you need, with or without any other plugins that might reduce the total amount of work you need to do here (such as a membership plugin).

One more question: Is Events Calendar PRO a requirement for the community events extension, or is vanilla Events Calendar enough?

PRO is not required – our free, core plugin is sufficient by itself in order to run Community Events. If you do also have PRO however then various features like recurring events are also inherited by Community Events.

I hope that answers your questions but please don’t hesitate to let me know if we can help with anything else.

    Thanks!
