OK: so if your test site is already a “stock install” (nothing else running but a default theme) can I ask you to visit the Settings: Permalinks admin screen, change nothing but hit save. Does that resolve this at all?

    Apologies again, re-posting:

There are definitely going to be situations where conflicts arise – and that’s true of many different combinations of plugins/themes.

Something like Use Google Libraries, where you are not necessarily going to be using the same versions of fundamental libraries like jQuery as ship with WordPress, sounds to me like something that may be problematic unless you can guarantee that the exact same versions are used (as the WP default libraries). Depending on your theme, because coding standards vary, it could also lead to classic issues like two copies of jQuery being enqueued at one.

I’m speculating here – but in honesty I’m not sure how much we can resolve without investigating each of those plugins one by one and getting a complete rundown of any applicable settings … realistically, that’s pushing the sort of service we can offer.

(As a sidenote, please do try to avoid posting private replies unless you are sharing confidential information. Apart from triggering this issue with staff replies, which we’re working to resolve, it makes the information you are sharing – none of which is particularly sensitive – inaccessible to other users who might be researching the same topic.)

    Hmm, ok.

The only thing different is the test install is without a bunch of plugins I use on the live site. But I turned off all plugins initially when I first started having the problem and that didn’t resolve anything.

Have you tried the reverse? That is, installing and activating all of those same plugins (at the same versions) on the test site? Does the problem surface after one or other is activated?

That might give us a clue as to how this started, though realistically given you’re the only person I know of reporting this (and it is isolated to one installation) it may be we’re running out of options we can look at, unfortunately.

OK, unfortunately if the issue comes down to the maximum execution time and that cannot be changed there is little we can do to help out with this one.

While I don’t know that that is definitely the cause, it doesn’t seem unlikely and – based on what you’ve described and the fact that it worked without any problems on your demo site – it does rather look like the problem is specific to this particular hosting environment you are using.

I don’t think we’re going to be able to provide further assistance and am inclined to close this thread. Do you have any further questions before I do so?

Thanks: we’ll make contact and see what we can figure out. Please do be aware that there may be a longer-than-usual delay before we next update this thread, simply as we don’t know how quickly things will progress – but we certainly will continue to update this thread periodically (just not every 24hrs).

in reply to: How to add a sidebar in Genesis for the events? #119758

Right, so we can’t offer much Genesis-specific support here, but what I was proposing was that you use the Default Events Template and simply add a call to pull in the sidebar from there. Does that help?

(Please do check out the Themer’s Guide if you haven’t already done so to see how template overrides work with The Events Calendar).

Using the Tribe Bar alone you may well have to do some custom coding. It could be worth reviewing the capabilities of our Filter Bar plugin though in case that meets your needs or gives you a better platform for onward customization.

Beyond that I don’t think there is a whole lot more we can offer here and so will close this thread.

    Thanks again 🙂

Things for doing that – and please feel free to remove that code.

I’m unsure why the longitude/latitude were not captured first time round – but I think what’s happening is this: since querying for this information from Google is a comparatively costly operation we don’t want to do it unless it is necessary and there is a “safety mechanism” in place for just that reason.

In this case, I think that is stopping us from collecting the information about longitudes/latitudes that we need.

    • Can I ask you to try editing a venue and change the street address slightly (ie, from 123 Any Street to 456 Any Street), save and – assuming there are some upcoming events at that venue – see if it now pops up in map view
    • Initially you said you loaded a number of “test” events. For the avoidance of any doubt, can you confirm you did so via the CSV importer?

Thanks again for your support and patience.

OK – unfortunately then we may have to bow out on this occasion.

Since theme theme is deprecated that may be an indicator of deeper problems and realistically probably isn’t a great investment of our time as any solution would benefit very few users.

With regards to Email Subscription perhaps you could talk to the author about this? I did take a quick peak and the problem boils down to their emailSub_registerUrl() function and how it interacts with WordPress’s rewrite rules table – which it modifies on every single request, therefore it will cause a problem with many plugins besides ours even if that is the only place you are seeing problems right now.

Thanks again – and I’ll go ahead and close this thread.

Couldnt you give us a possibility to remove or change this Sentence in the Backend?

We could, yes – but we tend to avoid adding additional settings for a variety of reasons unless there is a strong case for doing so. We’re definitely open to making changes though and would suggest posting your idea for a new setting on our UserVoice page (which will help us to gauge how many other users might want the same thing).

I want to have a sustainable solution and not one which i have to modify something at every update. Also i dont want a child theme. As we move everything we have to pay attention at that much different things.

For now, I’m afraid that is simply your best bet (or else you could create a custom plugin) – but please do post a feature request as discussed and we’ll certainly consider it 🙂

Thanks again – and I’ll go ahead and close this thread as I don’t think there is much more we can offer at this point.

    Hi Lars,

We did not find the label for Events Category in the meta.php file so we are not any closer to a solution.

If you find the entry for tribe_event_category (which ought to begin around line 331) you should find that you find changing:

    'label' => null

    To:

'label' => 'Label for the category field'

Does the trick. Again, I’d strongly advise against editing core code in this manner, but if it’s the path you want to take because of theme incompatibility issues then it’s entirely your choice.

Hi, it is the specific theme we are using that causes the snippet not to work. We have testet this fully now.

It’s a real shame we didn’t hit on this a lot earlier and I am unsure why it would be a problem with this specific theme or why it might affect this particular mechanism within The Events Calendar. Perhaps you could touch base with the theme author and discuss with them?

I do hope the above advice gets you sorted on this one and I’ll go ahead and close this thread. If we can assist with any other issues please do feel free to create new threads as needed.

You could use the woot_get_tickets() function and inspect the inventory of each product and display appropriate messaging that way – unfortunately we just can’t go in to too much depth here since it’s very much a customization. I do hope you can figure things out, but since we can’t really help any further I’ll go ahead and close this thread.

Thanks again and good luck 🙂
