Hi – We are running a non-profit site and recently upgraded from a very old version (2.0.10) to v3.4 of ECP.

After update, we have the following issues two issues. Please help.

    —————–
ISSUE 1: URL structure of Events is different in search results than direct permalink:
    —————–
When searching the site – http://ctanswers7979.staging.wpengine.com/?s=Les+Beaux&submit=find – (example term is Les Beaux), the event results:
    a) all the results have same URL permalink
    b) all the results are 404s page not found since the URL does not actually exist
    c) the permalinks do not have the /date at the end of the url, where as the actual event url does. Why?

    —————–
ISSUE 2: Organizations CPT and links are no longer valid, hwoever new Organizers tab exists:
    —————–
In old version, the site had an Organizations CPT outside of the Events menu tab. Now, that Organizations CPT is gone, but I do see a Organizers tab, and it’s =post_type=tribe_organizer exactly same way as our previous Organizations tab.

    See screenshots here – http://i59.tinypic.com/20ti4wm.jpg – and – http://i61.tinypic.com/30krkp0.jpg

Can you tell us how to get Organizations working as before? It seems the post data is still there, however the permalinks result in 404s. Example link below:
    http://ctanswers7979.staging.wpengine.com/organizer/united-way-of-greenwich/

On our Production site running older version of ECP (2.0.10), the same Organization permalink results a working page (not 404):
    http://www.communityanswers.org/organization/united-way-of-greenwich/

    —-
Already attempted (multiple times to make sure):
    1) cleared cache / reset permalinks
    2) deactivated all plugins

I provided the staging area website link where we have upgraded to the latest plugin, and deactivated all other plugins.

I really appreciate any help you can provide on this matter, as we would like to start using the latest version of your plugins. However, these 404s are really causing major roadblocks, and we’re hoping you have more insights into how to resolve.

    Hi CA Team!

We do try to keep to one issue per thread, so let’s start with the first issue and if you want to progress the second issue please go ahead and create a new thread for that one 🙂

    a) all the results have same URL permalink
    b) all the results are 404s page not found since the URL does not actually exist

I can definitely see that on your site. Ordinarily recurring events have a date appended to the end, something like:

    example.com/event/recurring-event-instance/2014-10-01

In this case of course that isn’t happening (and we would currently expect that to be missing when a recurring event appears in search results, though we realize it is not ideal). However, normally if you visited:

    example.com/event/recurring-event-instance

It would not result in a 404, rather you would be redirected to the next upcoming instance, such as:

    example.com/event/recurring-event-instance/2014-04-01

Why that’s not happening in this case is a bit of a puzzle. I do note you’ve tried our basic troubleshooting steps already, but just for absolute clarity (because your focus seems to have been on deactivating other plugins) can you confirm if at the same time as deactivating all other plugins you also switched to a default, unmodified theme?

    Thanks!

With all plugins turned off (except ECP), and switching to 2013 or 2014 themes, the issue is the same.

404s continue regardless of the theme being used. For example, I switched to 2013 theme, and here is a search of the term “Les Beaux” from the standard WP Search widget. The results all have the same URL (with no date appended at end of URL). When clicking any of the results, they all result in 404 Page Not Found. This is causing thousands of 404s on our site and visitors have complained for months, but we’re just now figuring out the cause:

Please advise how to resolve. Thank you.

OK: so if your test site is already a “stock install” (nothing else running but a default theme) can I ask you to visit the Settings: Permalinks admin screen, change nothing but hit save. Does that resolve this at all?

This thread’s not seen much activity for the last couple of weeks so I’ll go ahead and close it. Of course if you still need help with this or any other issue please don’t hesitate to create a new thread (or threads) and one of the team will be only too happy to help. Thanks!
