I accidentally click the “this is resolved” in my last reply to this topic ( https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/recurring-events-only-publishing-the-first-day/ )so I’m starting a new thread because I can’t seem to undo that.

After switching to the 2013 and 2011 versions of WordPress’ default theme and shutting off all plugins except Events Calendar/Events Calendar Pro, I still can’t get any recurring events to publish the recurring days.

    Thanks for re-posting:

I accidentally click the “this is resolved” in my last reply to this topic ( https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/recurring-events-only-publishing-the-first-day/ )so I’m starting a new thread because I can’t seem to undo that.

Please let me apologize first of all for the inconvenience this caused – we do have a few glitches in our forum software and are steadily working to resolve them.

After switching to the 2013 and 2011 versions of WordPress’ default theme and shutting off all plugins except Events Calendar/Events Calendar Pro, I still can’t get any recurring events to publish the recurring days.

I’m a bit bamboozled as to why this is happening – one last thing to try yourself or perhaps you can confirm right off the bat: does this affect all recurrence patterns in your case? Could you try a monthly or weekly pattern for instance, if you haven’t already done so.

What would be great is if – in the same hosting environment, perhaps in a subdirectory – you install a fresh copy of WordPress and set up only our plugins to begin with and see if the same problem occurs there and – if they do – if it was possible to gain access so we could observe it first hand that would be excellent (this would also avoid impacting adversely on your operational site).

    Thanks!

It definitely affects all recurrence versions.

Installed the plugins on a wordpress install I use to experiment with plugins I want to try out and recurring events work fine in the fresh install.

One thing I noticed different in the fresh install compared to the active version on my site is that on the fresh install when I add a new event the start/end date and time has an AM/PM drop menu. My active install uses 24 hour clock format so the am/pm option isn’t even there. I can’t seem to find anywhere in Settings that toggles it either way. Could that mess up recurring events somehow?

    That’s a great question.

That setting is actually a WordPress setting (visit Settings → General  Time Format) which could indeed be worth testing out here. Can you try toggling it?

Changing to a 12 hour time format didn’t change anything. Recurring days still don’t generate.

OK, so it sounds like for some reason the problem  is tied to your live site, but recurrence works as expected regardless of time format on your new test site – is that summary correct?

Correct. Recurring events are not generating recurring dates on my live site at all. Recurring events do generate recurring dates on a test install.

OK, so it certainly sounds like a problem that is pretty specific in terms of affecting only this one installation … are you able to identify any differences at all between them – even minor version differences in terms of the activated plugins/theme/WordPress itself?

Events Calendar Plugin, theme and wordpress version are identical. The only thing different is the test install is without a bunch of plugins I use on the live site. But I turned off all plugins initially when I first started having the problem and that didn’t resolve anything.

    Hmm, ok.

The only thing different is the test install is without a bunch of plugins I use on the live site. But I turned off all plugins initially when I first started having the problem and that didn’t resolve anything.

Have you tried the reverse? That is, installing and activating all of those same plugins (at the same versions) on the test site? Does the problem surface after one or other is activated?

That might give us a clue as to how this started, though realistically given you’re the only person I know of reporting this (and it is isolated to one installation) it may be we’re running out of options we can look at, unfortunately.

So I installed all the plugins I use on my live site onto the test one and recurring events continue to work correctly on the test install. So I guess that’s not the problem.

OK, thanks for giving it a shot.

Can you post the system info (as provided in the Events → Help admin screen) for both installations – the test install where it works, and the live install where it does not?

    Thanks!

    Is the theme different somehow?

It shows as Flavor – VMS on the live site but Flavor on the test site and that two different templates are being used for event views (concertsflavor on one, concertcalendar on the other). And some other oddities, like the plugin name for NextGen gallery being different in one case and not in the other, though the plugin version seems to be the same.

It may be that none of those factors or relevant, then again they may be pertinent. It’s hard to say (what is the difference between the two themes and those templates – are there differences in the functions.php files, etc?). Some changes in the recurrence engine have taken place recently and an additional fix was released in relation to those changes yesterday – does updating help at all?

Sorry, last weekend I transitioned to a new WordPress Theme and tested other plugin upgrades on the test install. Here’s the system info with identical templates and plugins (except Events Calendar Pro… I upgraded the live site’s version, but since my key only works for one site I couldn’t upgrade the test one unless I copy and paste it) and functions.php filesare also identical.
