MemberThat is really strange.
Is it possible that there is a customization somewhere – perhaps operating on a filter hook for the event schedule details?
If you take things back to basics and run only unmodified copies of our plugins with no other plugins and just a default, unmodified theme do you see the same thing?
Barry
MemberHi – great question!
We actually switched away from PDFs in recent versions to help increase the customizability of tickets, amongst other reasons. This is definitely possible, though, but is no longer a feature of the plugin and would, I’m afraid, require to be developed as a piece of custom development work.
However, we’d be more than happy to consider any feature requests you might make about this (or if you see a suitable existing request, please do just add your support to that instead).
Thanks!

MemberI’m sorry you’re hitting difficulties here, that’s a strange problem.
So far I’ve only seen issues where a third party plugin (Series Engine in one or two cases) was installed – with that in mind, though I appreciate you indicated having already tried something like this, can you deactivate all other plugins and switch to a default, unmodified theme then try setting up a new series of daily events.
Does the same problem still occur?

MemberHi – sorry you’re hitting difficulties. When I look at your month view both the month and year seem to be included (except for on the initial load for the current month, when it reads Events this month).
Can you clarify where I would need to go to see this issue?
Barry
MemberHi Jason,
It’s very hard to answer a question like that without knowing what sort of logic is being used by the theme. A standard WordPress search ought to include events – if that’s not happening and you know it relates to the theme, I’m afraid you would need to approach the theme developer for assistance or else open it up and see what it’s doing at code level.
If I was to hazard a guess it would be that it is limiting its query to a subset of post types – perhaps just posts and pages – but that’s only a guess.
Sorry we can’t offer much more here, but if you have any further questions depending on what you might dig up after some further investigation definitely let us know 🙂

MemberHi: looks like you’ve made some changes since you first posted and the main events page is looking pretty presentable – did you figure things out?

MemberI can imagine that must be pretty frustrating!
This isn’t a problem we’re seeing locally, though, and I haven’t seen widespread reports – which does make me wonder if it might be due to a conflict on your own website.
I see that you already tried deactivating all other plugins and switching to a default, unmodified theme – can you confirm what the outcome of that test was?
Thanks!

MemberHi – I’m sorry, first of all, that you’re experiencing difficulties here.
a code snippet action hook:tribe_allow_large_joins, I see no difference
This won’t improve performance, it’s simply a workaround to some limits often set by default in shared hosting environments, for instance.
It takes more than 6 seconds(!) hosted on a premium WP hoster.
We are currently interested in gathering in more information about the hosting platforms where these issues spring up – since we do know that there are also busy sites with lots of events running without any hitches whatsoever. With that in mind, can you tell me who your premium WP hoster is?
We have 136 events. On the homepage are about 10 events listed in a widget about 2 a week.
I’m surprised this would cause the sort of difficulties you are describing – but of course it’s hard to build up a complete picture without knowing what else is running on your server, traffic levels, what’s being delivered per request, etc. Clearly things aren’t ideal for you here, and we are striving to make improvements with each release, but if you could update any further details (at least with a note of who the hosting provider is) that would be great 🙂

MemberI appreciate you are hitting difficulties here, but it would be appreciated if you could create you own threads (as you’ve already done, verahelleman – thanks!).

MemberHi – great question!
At this time there is no built-in support for that and it would have to be implemented via some custom development work. That said, we’d be more than receptive to any feature requests you might post along these lines (or you could add your support to any suitable existing requests, if there are any).
Thanks!

MemberHi – great questions!
We don’t currently ship with a Hebrew translation. All our language files are actually the result of community volunteers who have contributed their time and knowledge – and we are delighted to offer a free license to anyone who can provide complete translations in a new language (for both The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO):
tri.be/support/forums/topic/translations-getting-started
At this time we don’t natively support the Jewish calendar, however, and I suspect that adding such support would require a considerable amount of re-engineering – however, we’d happily consider it and you can post a feature request if you’d like to see this – that way others can show their support, giving us a metric of how much demand exists for this.
I hope that answers your questions but please don’t hesitate to let me know if there is anything else we can assist with.

MemberHi! I’d recommend reading through our Themer’s Guide in the first instance – the actual template that you might customize would vary, though, according to where you want the image to appear.
Might featured images be an easier way to implement this?
Barry
MemberHi!
You’re right, we don’t have a great deal of documentation on that aspect of the plugin, though there is this guide which explains some of the background you’d need to work with it (and I’d recommend reading the Themer’s Guide first of all, if you haven’t already done so):
How the Tribe Meta Factory Works
Beyond that, at code level, you will probably be most interested in lib/tribe-meta-factory.class.php if you want to see the “nuts and bolts” of this system (we don’t recommend changing core plugin code, however).
Let me know if that helps!
Barry
MemberThanks for your patience.
- Please download this plugin and upload it to your site (then activate it)
- Visit the settings page, look for a new button to merge duplicate recurring events
- Click it and let it run (depending on how many duplicates you have this could take a while – please just leave your browser window/tab open until it completes)
Hopefully that will remedy this for you 🙂
Barry
MemberI disabled all plugins and the one that causes the Widgets Area to disappear is the Event Calendar PRO plugin. We have 7,120 events.
If those were not created intentionally – that is, they are duplicates that resulted from a bug in the update process – then I’d recommend using the revised plugin linked to above to clear them up.
Are we pushing the envelop with this plugin with that many events?
Not as such – but it’s worth remembering that, supposing even you have 20,000 authentic events, that is naturally going to present some challenges. The plugin can only do so much and as with any web application if it is dealing with large amounts of data and/or large amounts of traffic a suitable hosting configuration will be needed to support everything.
Trying to run a busy site with a large amount of content – whether events or even regular posts – probably isn’t going to work so well on the very cheapest shared hosting packages, for instance (not that that is what you are doing, but just to illustrate).
If you’ve got any further questions or concerns on performance generally though I would ask you create a new thread.
Nope, very simple site. I’ve asked my colleague to check it, and he’s not phoned me up in floods of tears (yet) so I’ll assume all’s okay, but will report back.
Great – hopefully all is well but let us know if that isn’t the case (restoring a previous backup and working from there with the revised cleanup code is probably the best solution, if there is a problem).
re my other site, which is still on v3.4… I’m going to leave it at that version until you release a proper fix in the next release. Is that what you’d advise?
Waiting until the next release arrives may be the most prudent course of action, yes.
