Duplicate Events

    I just updated Events Calendar pro to 3.5.1 from 3.4.1, and all of my re-occurring events are duplicated. I also updated Events Calendar (after I did pro)which may be part of the problem. Could really use some advice, short of re installing the entire site from backup.

    Hi Gary,

    We’re really sorry for the inconvenience. We’re aware of this and have a potential fix in the wings that you’ll be able to apply (in the form of a plugin you can use to fix things up – after which you can delete it).

    We did find a slight issue which means we’re holding off from issuing it right now, but I’d hope to have it ready by tomorrow and we’ll certainly do our best to update this thread at that point (and on this occasion, please don’t hesitate to “bump” it if you don’t see a reply by lunch tomorrow, though).

    • Please download this plugin and upload it to your site (then activate it)
    • Visit the settings page, look for a new button to merge duplicate recurring events
    • Click it and let it run (depending on how many duplicates you have this could take a while – please just leave your browser window/tab open until it completes)

    Hopefully that will remedy this for you 🙂

    Barry,
    Thank you for your help. The plugin did in fact solve the problem. For others using it, my experience was that starting with 2000 events. The plugin timed out after deleting between 100 and 200 occurrences. I simple checked the number of pages remaining in the events list, and ran it again, watching to see how many more pages of events were removed. Thank you so much for your help
