MemberHi Diallo,
We can certainly point you in the right direction on the forums – but generally speaking you need to implement any changes yourself (or of course hire a suitable designer/developer) ๐
Barry
MemberOK – and so at the URL you provided I do see a slider and it seems to be pulling events in successfully – what’s the specific problem? Is it pulling in only those in a specific category?
If so, it’s worth bearing in mind that event categories are not the same as regular post categories – so if your slider plugin of choice does not support custom taxonomies that could be the problem here.

MemberHi plafferty,
Sorry to hear it’s not working for you.
There are a couple of possibilities to explore here – the first is just checking that the Show Google Map checkbox is checked off for the events in question:

If that’s all in order and you’re still hitting difficulties can you point me to a live example of an affected event?
Barry
MemberI’m sorry you’re experiencing difficulties.
Though I’m sure you’ve already checked and double-checked, is there any possibility that there was a copy and paste mishap here?
Barry
MemberHi worldgolfskills,
That’s a great question.
Embedding the submission form in other sites wasn’t a design goal so, while it’s certainly possible, it would be the sort of customization you’d need to drive forwardย yourself (whether with a cheap and cheerful solution like embedding it in an iframe or something more involved).
We’d certainly welcome this as a feature request if you’d like to post one, though – which has the benefit of letting other users comment and up-vote the idea ๐
Does that help/answer your question?

MemberHi persyst,
That’s a great question – however it shouldn’t display this event has passed while it’s still ongoing … can you confirm that your WordPress timezone settings (Settings > General) are correct and perhaps point me to an example of this?
Thanks!

MemberHi!
How can I add text to explain how the search works, immediately under the search function (not after all the listings)?
You can customize almost anything (and our Themer’s Guide explains the basics for safely overriding and modifying our templates, so that’s well worth reading).
In this case for example you might override and add text to the modify/bar.php template – perhaps though it would work for you to add some text in the add HTML before event content field (found in Events > Settings > Display)?
Also, is there a way to format the search boxes so they look more like typical ones
You can certainly apply custom CSS styles … but what do you mean exactly? Do you basically want them to appear as completely unstyled inputs?

MemberHi!
We’ve got a great guide that explains the process for requiring various fields in the Community Events submission page:
tri.be/change-required-fields-on-community-event-submission-page
Also, how do I export all of them?
No export tools are built in at this time, but the WordPress exporter should allow you to export all events in XML format.
Does that help?

MemberHi Nik,
I’m sorry you’re encountering difficulties.
I can reach your main events page, and even navigate back to previous events. Something doesn’t seem right, though … have you made any customizations at all?
If you visit Events > Settings > Display, can you confirm that month view is enabled?
Thanks!
Barry
MemberHi – great question!
One of the issues that can arise is that, by default, customers cannot reach the actual WooCommerce-managed product page. This is by design, but could pose challenges when working with other addons.
If you follow the steps in this thread though you might be able to workaround this.
Does that help?

MemberHi Veruska,
Anyway, I am not happy right now but apparently there is nothing you can do to help me in this particular case. I will switch to List view then.
I definitely understand your frustration – please don’t think we do not sympathize, we do. However, if Google is declining to return geodata (ie, the geographic coordinates of various venues) there’s not much we can do about that beyond that advice already offered.
My web designer ran a test on his dedicated server and that wonโt help.
Can you tell me more? For instance if I create a new venue using the same street address as used for this event it successfully pulls in the coordinates and any events taking place at that venue can then be found within map view.
With that in mind, I’m surprised to hear this problem can be duplicated on a dedicated server unless it’s also running other apps/websites that are collectively exceeding Google’s daily usage limits, or unless something else is getting in the way.
It is a shame that I will have to switch to List View in order to find an event by its Title or Keyword.
There are a couple of other avenues to consider besides a different server/hosting setup or obtaining an API key. These might not be your first choice, but they could be worth thinking about:
- This third-party plugin (unsupported by us) lets you add coordinates to venues – so if you’ve exceeded your usage rates or communication with Google is a probem you could still add geodata (somewhat cumbersome, since you still need to figure out what the coordinates for each venue are, but who knows – your developer/designer could use this as the basis of a more tailored solution)
- You could potentially keep map view as your default view – but switch to list view when a user conducts a search. That would involve some customization work and so you may wish to draw on the support of a suitable developer/designer – but definitely ought to be achievable
I hope that helps ๐

MemberHi!
Thanks for your patience so far. I’m sorry I don’t have too much to report just yet – but wanted you to know this is still on our radar and like you we are keen to progress it as quickly as we can. Currently we’re just waiting out on a response from the Headway team.
I’ll update you again as soon as I can ๐

MemberHi veruska,
So some of this follows from previous threads – but please let me know if anything remains unclear.
You’ve listed 3 events all containing “Roberto” but one – portal.brasileirinho.com/evento/roberto-carlos-projeto-emocoes – is a past/expired event at this point and so won’t show up in the initial search results. The other two do show up however, if you search in the context of list view:
portal.brasileirinho.com/eventos/proximo/?tribe-bar-search=roberto
I think the confusion is that your default view is map view. Map view is special because it only lists events where we’ve stored the geographic location of the venue. In situations where we cannot figure out the location then, unfortunately, it isn’t possible to include them in map view.
In this case, it looks like those Roberto Carlos events are being impacted by this.
Thinking back to previous threads we identified that even though you had venues with perfectly valid street addresses, the location of a number of venues was not successfully being established. It appeared to be that Google was declining to return that information because of the volume of requests it was receiving either from your site or from all sites hosted on your server.
We did discuss ways of working around this, but as I recall you were not inclined or able to move to a more isolated hosting environment (ie, a virtual or dedicated server) and did not wish to obtain a Google Maps API key. Is that still the case?
Might an alternative be to make list or month view your default view?
Barry
MemberI’m sorry you’re hitting difficulties.
I do need to be clear though that the amount of support we can offer for integration issues with third party plugins can be pretty limited, but I’d certainly be interested in hearing more.
Does this problem occur with any plugin in particular? Can you provide a link?
September 15, 2014 at 8:02 am in reply to: GhozyLab's "Easy Media Gallery" Plug-in and Events PRO Photo & Map View Bug #744725Barry
MemberThere definitely seems to be a problem here, thanks for sharing!
It seems to relate to Easy Media Gallery’s use of MooTools (a third party Javascript library) – but without the unminified source (which Easy Media Gallery doesn’t ship) it would be pretty hard to track this down. On that basis it’s probably going to be easiest to leave this one to GhozyLab to figure things out.
I’d definitely be keen to hear any feedback that comes through GhozyLab, though, and will keep this thread open in case there’s anything further on that front ๐
