MemberExactly, yes – it’s laid out in more detail within our Themer’s Guide but, for instance, a file like this one:
plugins/the-events-calendar/views/single-event.php
Would map to:
themes/YOUR_THEME/tribe-events/single-event.php

MemberHi Joe,
So Events Calendar PRO itself is a GPL-licensed open source project and therefore I believe we are in compliance here. Looking at their license page:
The open source license is designed for you to use Isotope to build open source and personal projects. The Isotope open source license is GPLv3. The GPLv3 has many terms, but the most important is how it is sticky when you distribute your work publicly. From the GPL FAQ:
If you release the modified version to the public in some way, the GPL requires you to make the modified source code available to the program’s users, under the GPL.
Releasing your project that uses Isotope under the GPLv3, in turn, requires your project to be licensed under the GPLv3. If you are okay with this, feel free to use Isotope under the GPLv3, without purchasing a commercial license.
They do seem to offer multiple licenses for different situations, though, as you highlighted. What I’d recommend though if you have any doubts or further concerns is that you contact the Isotope authors/support team and check in with them on this issue.
I hope that helps 🙂

MemberGreat!
While it would certainly be nice to define patterns like the one you’ve outlined (and we do have some changes to the recurrence user interface in the pipeline) the flipside of course is that facilitating complicated patterns might mean a much more complicated interface.
So there’s something of a balance to be struck, and I don’t think in this particular scenario it represents too unreasonable a trade-off.
That said, please remember that we are also open to fresh ideas should you think of any changes that might work well not just for yourself but other users:
The great thing about UserVoice is it lets us see how much demand there may be for a certain idea, as others can comment on and upvote suggestions.
In any case, glad you’re all sorted here and I will now close this topic 🙂

MemberSounds like you’ve had a rough ride – but by the sounds of things this problem at least has been resolved.
With that in mind I will go ahead and close out this topic, but of course please don’t hesitate to create new forum topics as needed should anything else crop up 🙂

MemberOK – thanks for clarifying.
The thing is that the widget you are referring to is not something our own plugins provide.
If I’m not mistaken this is actually one of the features of your theme (Espresso) and so it’s not something we’re in a position to debug. With that in mind, the best course of action here is to seek assistance from the theme authors.
Hopefully they can assist you here 🙂

MemberHi Heather,
Great question (and thanks for considering our plugins)!
You’re correct that this would need to be implemented as a further piece of customization work. I’m afraid to say I cannot provide you with a quote or estimate, however, as at this time we do not generally take on customization tasks like the one you have outlined.
That said, there are lots of great WordPress devs and designers out there who might be able to help – perhaps you could try and seek one out via a freelance marketplace or some other channel?
The Events Calendar, Events Calendar PRO and our other plugins are pretty popular so if you specify that you need someone experienced in these I’d imagine there would be any number of takers 🙂
I hope that helps – and good luck with the project!

MemberHi vancouverbrewfest,
Sorry to hear you are hitting up against difficulties – that’s a strange problem.
In the first instance can I ask you to visit the Events → Settings → Display screen and change the default events template setting?
Depending on your theme there may be lots of choices or just two (typically, you can at least select one of the Default Events Template or Default Page Template).
Can you try toggling between a few different options and see if that helps?
Let me know how you get on 🙂

MemberHi Joe,
I wouldn’t want to mislead you here so bear with me and I’ll check in with the team and get you a more substantive answer shortly 🙂

MemberHi Lora,
I think the easiest way to manage this would be to create separate chains of events for each year.
That’s to say, one set of events where each instance takes place Saturday 9am – 12pm (April through November), then a second chain for next year and so on.
Would that work for you?
Barry
MemberHi funinjerusalem,
The current recurring events implementation will try to update all recurring events “en masse”. If you have created a pattern that will result in a large number of events this can, unfortunately, cause timeouts in some hosting environments.
We are planning on addressing this in the next release – but before I jump the gun, I wanted to check on the sorts of events you are creating: if for instance this problem occurs with an event that will only recur two or three times, the problem is probably something else.
On the other hand, if you have something recurring daily for many months or something else like that, then that would result in a lot of events being generated and that would tend to confirm that this might be the problem you are facing.
Does this fit your experiences?

MemberHi Mark,
I’m not sure this is an end-of-day cutoff problem as such (that side of things seems to be in order, best I can tell).
Is the specific problem with the three events taking place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this week? If so, I believe that is simply a result of the fact that these are separate instances of three different recurring events, each of which repeats weekly but on different days.
Though they happen to share the same title they are not in fact the same event.
Does that help to clarify things?

MemberThanks for getting back.
I’ll have a play with this and see what happens – it looks like exactly what I’m after.
Fantastic, thanks Spencer 🙂

MemberSorry to bombard you, Steven, but we’ve been working hard to get on top of this and a few different ideas/theories have emerged all of a sudden.
One more thing to check on: can you ask your host (GoDaddy) if your server is a 32bit machine? If it is, that could be at the source of this and we’ll have a further update coming shortly to address that particular issue (if it’s a 64bit server, though, please do continue with the above suggestions).
Thanks once more!
