    Hi Aindreas,

Both the code and the screenshot of additional field settings you shared look fine to me (and if I reverse the process and copy what you shared – it again works for me locally) – so unfortunately I’m a little unsure as to why it’s failing in your case.

Can you point me to an event for which you set Donation to Yes? I went through the first two pages of events listed on your /events/list/ page but was unable to identify any that had Donation set to Yes (unless you’ve modified your templates to hide it, I’d expect to see this information in the grey ‘meta’ area of one of the events in question).

    Thanks!

    We’re making progress!

You think the Firefox issue can be resolved?

I don’t actually experience a problem with Firefox, the behaviour is identical to what I see in other browsers and auto-refresh works. Can you flush the browser cache?

In chrome no auto search anymore.

Auto-search (live refresh) seems to be turned off at the moment.

Can you visit Events → Settings → General then check the box next to Use Javascript to control date filtering and save the page?

Great. So – setting aside the fact that you have to manually click on the filter button (as auto-refresh is turned off) – that seems to be working as expected for me across a range of browsers.

    Can you confirm the same?

    Thanks Dien.

So on the test site, would it be possible for you to deactivate all other plugins (except for The Events Calendar and Filter Bar) and switch to a default, completely unmodified theme such as Twenty Sixteen then let me know so I can take a look while the site is in a more ‘default’-like state?

    Thanks!

    Hi Mat,

Sorry to hear that – but yes we’ll aim to post an update in here once the fix is available (you can also subscribe to our blog’s RSS feed as we cover release highlights there, too).

Thanks again for your support and patience.

    Hi Jo,

    Thanks for posting!

Unfortunately I don’t have anything to report at this time and I’m afraid we can’t commit to any sort of timeframe for when this might happen.

We’ve logged this for further consideration but further work has yet to commence, though I did update the report on our internal tracker to note your continued interest ๐Ÿ™‚

In the interim I can only suggest an approach based on my first reply (above) as a way of working around any difficulties.

    Hi Julie,

I’m sorry if that was confusing.

The only things we have for sale are event tickets that go through EVents Calendar Plus/WooTix. Are you saying that I AM using the update-able Events Ticket Plus, or the old plug-in that no longer updates?

Based on the system information you shared, you are using our legacy plugin to sell tickets (WooCommerce Tickets). Our new plugin, Event Tickets Plus – which you have a license for – replaces that (but you don’t seem to be using it yet).

So I had to wait until another order came through to answer your question. It is happening with EVERY order.

That’s very unusual – but there is nothing in our code that would automatically and forcibly cause orders to be cancelled. I strongly suspect the problem lies elsewhere.

I will contact Woo Support, now, and see what they say.

I think that’s the best course of action at this time.

In this instance the problem is with the setting of order statuses – which WooCommerce Tickets (our plugin) does not interfere with – and it is also something that appears to be unique to your site (we aren’t seeing many or any comparable reports by other users).

I do sympathize – it’s very frustrating to purchase license keys only to find out that things aren’t behaving as expected – but the fact is that a WordPress installation with lots of plugins by different vendors is a complex machine and it’s not always easy to pinpoint the source of problems.

Hopefully the Woo team can shed some light on this – let us know how it goes ๐Ÿ™‚

    Thanks Mat,

There is definitely a scalability issue here and partly due to the large number of venues in your database, but partly because of they way we construct those queries, WP Engine is – not unreasonably – stopping them from running.

We’re going to have to revisit this and see if there is an alternative way of achieving the same result but without the extremely long list of venue IDs; in the short term perhaps you could ask WP Engine to remove the logic which kills very long queries like this one, if only as a temporary measure?

    Hi Jared,

I wanted to check in as its been a few days and I would hate to think your site is still suffering disruptions.

Is there still a problem and have you been able to give any of the steps outlined above a shot?

    Thanks!

    Hi John,

That finding (where they are off by 2hrs) is particularly odd and I’m finding that I cannot replicate that aspect.

Setting the event’s local timezone to UTC-7 however (as opposed to changing the WP timezone setting) does seem to work for me as a workaround for the first problem.

Regardless, there’s clearly a bug here and I’ve logged this for further attention. Of course, we’ll do our best to post an update as soon as a fix is available.

Thanks for your patience in the interim!

    Hi Jared,

I’m sorry to hear that you’ve hit up against some difficulties.

It sounds like the error relates to our Featured Venue Widget, however based on a quick initial test I seem unable to replicate this either with the widget proper or the matching shortcode.

Is any more information available in your logs? Sometimes there is a “stack trace” which provides a breadcrumb trail which would take us to the source of the error.

Alternatively, are you able to identify a situation where this fatal occurs and provide some steps on how to replicate it?

You didn’t provide your system information when you opened this topic so I can’t see any information about your previous versions, etc, but I’d love to know which version of PRO you were using prior to the update.

Last but not least, is it possible this relates to a customization somewhere along the line? Have you had an opportunity to run through our standard troubleshooting steps? (I do see that you marked “yes” to those questions when you opened the topic, but given I was unable to replicate the problem I wanted to double check.)

Before, I do it though, Iโ€™m wondering if a simpler fix might be to delete the Events Cal plugin and re-upload/activate?

You can definitely try that – perhaps just keep a close eye on things after reactivation in case duplication does re-occur, that way you can minimize the amount of events you potentially have to clean up (if things do go wrong).

I need to use this template for my site, so if Events Cal + iCal Uploader require no template, then I wonโ€™t be able to use their services.

Our plugins are designed to be customizable – and various themes take advantage of that, which is great.

However, if their custom templates trigger problems or require updates (which may be the case here) then that’s something you’d need to discuss with the theme vendor.

The first step, though, would be to determine if it is indeed a problem with the theme’s event-specific customizations. Checking if the same problem (where the dates are displaced) occurs with a default theme is a great way to do this ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi again!

On a clean installation, using that same feed, I do not experience the same problem with duplication.

I wonder: do you have a test site, or could you create one? This could be as simple as a fresh installation of WordPress in a subdirectory (ie, example.com/testwp) … if you add only The Events Calendar and iCal Importer and set up the same feed, do you experience the same problem with duplication?

If you do not it may indicate that there is or was a conflict on your live site.

    Hi Jadu,

Our Themer’s Guide is the best starting point if you want to learn about customizing the templates used in Community Events (or indeed any of our plugins) ๐Ÿ™‚

Also if thatโ€™s not the case, are you guys planning on adding this as new functionality?

Other than the approach outlined in the above guide, we tend to add customization and other options one-at-a-time, according to what the community requests. If there are specific options you’d like to see please do feel free to add them on our UserVoice page (or up-vote any suitable existing ideas).

    Thanks again!
