    You’re so welcome Bodie!

Is there anything else I can help you with before I close this ticket?

    Hi Bruce,

I tested this as well and yes, it looks like there is a glitch in the back-end. I checked our internal log and this is scheduled to be fixed with the next Major release of Event Tickets. I don’t know an exact date when that is going to happen, I’m just waiting for a feedback from the project manager on that. I’ll get back to you once I get a reply. Hang in there.

    Cheers,

    Hi Dave,

    Thanks for your feedback.

I’m actually slightly surprised that this isn’t a scenario you considered when developing the software.

Hmmm… definitely not for the sake of argument, but I don’t really see how what you want is different from a recurring event. The way I understand it, there is a Book Club, which has a meeting every Tuesday. From my perspective an event this Tuesday cannot be “the same” event as the one next Tuesday, simply because they are at different times. I see it as a series of events, or let’s call it a recurring event that happens every Tuesday.

If you are using our Event Tickets plugin for collecting registrations, then the registration can be closed at the beginning of the event with specifying and the “End sale”. (screenshot)

When you create an RSVP registration for an event series / recurring event, then the same registration is valid for all events in the series. So you whether you register on September 21 or October 5, you will still be registered for the whole series.

I would be happy to hear more details from you on how you imagine this, how it differs from what I drafted out. Then we could possibly create a user scenario, which will make it easier for us to decide whether this can be implemented in the future.

And of course if you have other question  regarding this I’m more than happy to help you further.

… the waiting list functionality is make-or-break for my client.

Would you have any recommendations for software or plugins that you know of that would handle this functionality?

I haven’t done or seen an implementation of this yet, and not quite sure what’s the exact functionality you need here, but…

If you are using Event Tickets Plus and WooCommerce as your ecommerce platform, then a plugin like WooCommerce Waitlist or YITH WooCommerce Waiting List could give you that functionality.

When you create a ticket with ET+, then it also creates the respective WooCommerce product. With the help of this article you can set up your system that you sell the tickets through the WooCommerce product page rather than the event page. And thus one of the waiting list plugins will give you the needed functionality.

Would this be a solution for you?

Yes, I believe the exclusions were caused by the same thing.

Unfortunately I don’t know of an easy way to sort events like that. However what you can try is…

I see you are using Advanced Post Manger. Set an active filter that will only show you recurring events.

Then click on the table header ‘Title’ so you order all the listed events by title. This will group the instances of recurring events together.

Check the last instance of a recurring event, when was it. If it is way in the past, and the recurrence pattern suggests it will not happen in the future, then you can delete it.

Here’s a screenshot of an event like that which I found.

Meanwhile I’ll also check with the team if someone has an idea of the filtering you are looking for.

Hello Mister, thanks for the ping.

I’m sorry if I made you think that the fix is definitely going to be in the MR which shipped this week. That was not my intention, that is why I pointed out that it might need a bit more time, since WPML is a complex thing to work with. Thanks for your understanding.

Unfortunately we were not able to fit it in this MR, so we had to move it to the next one. We ask for your kind patience.

I am sorry to say, the support is beyond everything which I experienced from other plugin providers.

I’m really sorry if we have disappointed you with our support, and I’m a bit surprised as well. I have checked the threads that you have opened in our premium forums and what I found that you were always treated in a helpful manner for our staff in all cases, and in most cases either solutions or workarounds were offered, or we logged a ticket for a bug which then goes to our developers. When a thread has been closed it was usually due to not receiving any reply from you for a longer period of time.

If you could share with us where you feel shortchanged with our products and / or support I will definitely make that known internally so we can work on making the support experience of our users better.

From your newsletters I read that you work heavily on new features of Event Tickets and on some new secret stuff, instead of fixing major flaws of existing products.

The two things – new secret stuff and fixing bugs – do not disqualify each other.

If you look at our release schedule you will see that we are trying to push out a maintenance (bugfix) release every two weeks. In our last MR we pushed out 35+ fixes and tweaks for 5 of our plugins. I believe that is a feat not many plugin developers can claim.

When a bug is reported to us we create an internal bugticket. In the MR process all bugs are being evaluated and a number of them are chosen based on several factors to be fixed in the next MR. Afterwards developers are assigned to them who estimate and do the work. Once their work is done the code needs to be reviewed and then tested in 2-3 rounds. If the fix passes QA, and we are sure that it doesn’t cause more trouble than then help, it is released in the MR. If it fails then it goes back to the developer, and sometimes it can happen that there is no time to fix it, so it gets postponed to the next MR.

I hope this gives a bit of clarity on how our releases and bugfixing works.

If you do have any more questions of feedback to us then please do share. I’m happy to answer.

    Cheers,
    Andras

    Hey Rob,

Thanks for getting back to us and especially thank you for your feedback.

We are sorry to hear the plugins didn’t make it for the client. There are cases where our plugins might not be the perfect solution out of the box.

As for the issues, we are aware of some of them and our team will get around to fixing them.

Found this article in our knowledgebase that should hide the recurring instances on the backend.

Let me know if that works.

    Čau Jan,

Thanks for reaching out to us! What a great question. Let me try to help you with this one.

What you what to achieve is doable but likely not in a way you imagine.

I just tested your first option, I set up an event from Sept. 25 to Nov. 5 and in month view it showed up for all 3 months. In the list view it doesn’t show up so I’m going to log that as a bug.

Anyway that would be one way to do it.

An alternative would be setting up one long all-day event (from Aug 16 to Oct 1.) and specify the opening hours for every weekday in the description. Probably this is the most straightforward way to do it. (In my reading it is an exhibition running from Aug 16 to Oct 1)

A workaround for it now showing up in the middle month: set up a long event for every month it’s happening in. Aug 16-31, Sept 1-30, Oct 1.

Alternative is setting up a recurring event as you said above with multiple recurrence rules. Set up the event for the start date; then one weekly rule for Tuesday-Friday; one weekly rule for Saturday-Sunday as most probably you did it.

I can check for you if anything can be done with the related events in this case. As for hiding the recurrences on the back-end, I will check as well. If I remember correctly we have a snippet somewhere that can do this for you, so you will only see the first instance of a recurring event series in the back-end.

    Does this help?

    Hello Joy,

Thanks for using our plugins and welcome to the forums!

Unfortunately there is no way at the moment to import recurring events from EventBrite as recurring events. From EventBrite you can only import one event at a time.

From other sources you might be able to import recurring events, however, after importing, they will be handled as separate single events in your Events Calendar.

Is there anything else I can help you with?

    Hello mca,

First, thanks a lot for using our plugins!

And thanks for reaching out. I’m sorry about the import duplication issue. Yes, we did have some issues like that. Let me try to help you get to the bottom of it.

Can you share me some details of what’s happening? Here is what would be useful:

    • the url  of the import, so I can run some test with it
    • which event is / events are being duplicated?
    • are there any changes made on the events that would give a reason for duplication? Or no changes at all on the events, and still they are duplicated?
    • Which event has the wrong date? What is it in googlecal and what does it become?

I’m really sorry about the frustration this is causing. If you can share with me the above then I’ll do my best to get down to the bottom of this.

Also some more notes as I was going through your system information – thanks for sharing that upfront:

    • I see ‘Duplicator’ and ‘Post Expirator’. They are not bad plugins as per se, just need to be careful with them so they don’t delete a scheduled import for example. We had cases like that.
    • We have released a new version of TEC yesterday which contains fixes for similar import issues. Please update and check if any of your issues are solved with it.
    • After updating it might be worth checking what happens if you delete a scheduled import and re-create it. (Possibly deleting the events, and removing them from the ‘Ignored’ list would be best too.)

Looking forward to helping you with this one.

    Cheers,
    Andras

    Hello MrHinsh,

Welcome to the forums and thanks for giving our plugins a try.

Let me try to help you with your questions. Please note though that we are limited in supporting customizations and custom development. I can give you some pointers but you will need to do the heavy lifting.

I’m not familiar with WP-Types, I guess it helps you create custom post types.

    1) If I add your tickets to my custom event how do I add the tickets to the view (no I do not get the droptdown for placement). In this case I am NOT using Calander Events, only Tickets.

If you have Event Tickets / Event Tickets Plus, then you can connect the tickets to any post type. You can do this under Events > Settings > Tickets tab, and you need to select there your post type(s) where you want to enable tickets. This will then include the ticket creation form onto the custom post type editing screen. (You don’t need The Events Calendar for this to work.)

Here’s a screenshot of the settings page, your custom post type should show up in that list.

How do I add “Event Start Date” or “Event End Date” to my view.

You can use tribe_get_start_time and tribe_get_start_date for this.

On this page you can find all the functions that you can use.

I am unwilling to compromise on view customisation.

I fully understand that. We have made it easy to override almost any template in our plugins. Our Themer’s Guide would be a good starting point for that.

Also there a quite a number of premium themes that work well together with our calendar plugins and offer different templates and designs, in case you would be interested to go down that road.

Please, do let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

    Cheers,
    Andras
