    Hi blizzdesign,

It looks like you already have a Developer level license for Events Calendar PRO which is valid through October of this year. I’ll do my best to answer your questions, but you also have access to download and try out the plugin from tri.be/my-account/downloads/.

    1. I would like to know the differences between the free and pro. On the website, there are a few items listed and then says a whole lot more. I would like to know exactly what the upgrade will offer.

You can see a list of the special PRO features by scrolling down the Events Calendar PRO product page. There you’ll see a list of features with some details. You can also get an in-depth look at how PRO works by going through the New User Primer, which includes lots of videos showing the backend of the plugin.

    2. When I purchase the Pro version will it erase my current data in the free version?

Nope, all your events, settings, etc. will be maintained. Events Calendar PRO actually works alongside the original plugin, adding the PRO functionality. You’ll continue using the free version with PRO as an add-on.

    3. Is there a setting that when I create an event it automatically posts to my social media?

At this time, we do not have a built-in feature that does this. You could potentially do something like this with some customization, or by using a third-party plugin that allows you to share Custom Post Types on social media.

    4. I would like the featured image to be the header image. Is this something that I can do with the plugin or would we have to update the theme?

The header image for your site would be controlled via your theme, not our plugin. Does that answer your question? I’m not sure what featured image you are referring to.

    5. In the google map, is there a way so that I can enter in the location of the hotel and it shows directions to the event? Viewers would be able to see how far/close the event is to the hotel. Is that possible?

This is not currently a feature, although it’s a cool idea for sure! The map view can show where events are, and you can show the distance from a particular city, but not a specific location. If you’d like to see a demo of Map View, you can check out our demo site at http://wpshindig.com/events/map/.

    Hi Daniel,

Thanks for your post. We recently did some maintenance that caused an issue with our license server. We have since corrected the issue, so you should now be able to update your plugin without issue (and the license should show up as valid). Can you please try again? You may need to re-input your license under Settings. Please try again and let me know if that works. Thank you for your understanding and patience while we got this corrected!

    Hi Peter,

Thanks for posting. We recently added a feature that allows you to limit how far in advance recurring event instances are made. Under Events –> Settings, look for the Create recurring events in advance for setting (like this). As a default, the calendar makes instances 24 months in advance, so you’re seeing multiple instances of your yearly events. If you set that to a lower number, like 12, visitors will only be able to see the next upcoming instance of an event. Future instances of the event will then be automatically added to the calendar 12 months in advance. Would that work for you?

    Hi stephencirving,

Thanks for your post. The Additional Fields tab would only show if you had Events Calendar PRO, since that’s a special PRO feature. However, you should be able to see the License Keys tab since you bought EDD Tickets. Sometimes that tab doesn’t show if you are running disparate versions of plugins. Can you confirm that you are running the latest versions for both The Events Calendar (3.6.1) and EDD Tickets (3.6.)? If you are a version or two behind on The Events Calendar, try updating that and then looking for the License Keys tab again.

    Hi clickwork,

Thanks for your post. You can set the time format with the WordPress General Settings. Whatever you choose for your Time Format Setting there will be reflected throughout The Events Calendar. Does that answer your question?

Thank you Massound, I will update the readme files. And thank you for the reminder about WooCommerce Tickets- the coupon will work for that as well.

Thanks again for all your help!

    Hi Jason,

Thanks for posting. We were doing some maintenance on our license server which unfortunately caused this issue to occur. It should be fixed now- can you please try adding your license again, and confirm that it validates successfully? I’m sorry you ran into that issue, and I appreciate your patience while we got it corrected.

    Hi Claire,

Thanks again for your patience here. The issue should now be resolved and you should be able to update the plugin automatically. Please give that a try and let me know if you run into any trouble. You may need to re-input the license key into your Settings page. Please let me know if the issue is resolved 🙂

in reply to: Recurring events status bug? #245496

    Hi jlpeifer,

Thank you for posting! I’m glad you did, because you ran into a settings issue with our demo site and a bug!

The good news is that for your purposes, this won’t be a problem. The problem was that we have a setting on the backend of the site which dictates how far in advance to actually make a recurring event instance (like this). We had it set at 12 months so the site was only making one instance, which then registered as not recurring. If you make that setting longer- like 24 months- then the second instance of the event would have been created, and it would have shown as recurring. Please feel free to repeat your test event- it should work now that the setting is changed.

The actual bug is that even if that second recurrence instance hasn’t been created because of the setting, it should still register as Recurring. I’ve ticketed that to be fixed, but handily the setting change should work around it for all but the most extreme circumstances.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. Thank you again for discovering this!

    Hi Chris,

As outlined on our main support page, we do not monitor the forums on weekends, hence the delayed reply. Thank for your interest in our plugins- I’ll do my best to answer your questions 🙂

I need to know what extensions do I need to buy regarding my needs. First of all, all my clients need to be able to buy directly on my website for any possible events. Also, I’d need to be able to set up an event for multiple days (i.e. September 2, September 6 and September 9 for the exact same event).

In order to have your clients register for events, you’ll need to purchase one of our five ticketing plugins. They all use different ecommerce solutions, so you can use the one that best suits your needs.

Events Calendar PRO does have a recurring events feature that allows you to have the same event on different days. However, at this time the pattern needs to be more regular, such as weekly on Mondays. We are working on expanding that capability so that you could use more random dates, but that is not available yet. Additionally, our ticketing plugins do not yet work with recurring events.

I think the best solution for you is to purchase one of our ticketing plugins and use that alongside our free core plugin, The Events Calendar. You can use a post-duplicating plugin to make the same event on different dates, and then assign tickets to those dates as needed.

I highly recommend that you check out the New User Primers for any plugins you’re interested in. That will give you a good idea of what the plugin can do and how it works on the backend.

in reply to: Customizing Calendar Views #245249

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for your interest in our plugins! I’m happy to answer your questions.

    1) I need to setup so that I can have one calendar with two different views. One view would show only events for one particular organizer, and another view would show events for all the organizers at once. Is this possible, and if so how?

With Events Calendar PRO, you can get specific organizer views. That shows the organizers information at the top and all the upcoming events organized by them below. Here’s an example screenshot of a uncustomized/unstyled Organizer page with the Twenty Thirteen theme. You can also add a description and/or pictures to that top part of the page. Would that work for you? The main calendar would then display the events for all the organizers.

    2) I’d like to create a custom field for “Additional Event Notes” and the calendar view needs to hide that data for people with one WP role, but display it for people with another WP role. In other words certain roles would see additional data bout the event. Is this possible, and if so how?

First of all I just want to make sure you know that the Additional Event field is not designed to be used for large amounts of text. On the backend it is just a small text box and it displays with the other event data on the front end (like this). I just wanted to point that out in case your notes are extensive.

To answer your question- that feature is not built in, no. It might be possible with some complex customizing, but that wouldn’t be something we could help you with. However, we do have documentation that would help and we’d be happy to recommend some developers who could work with you.

Let me know if I can elaborate or if you have any further questions 🙂

    Hi WalterP,

Thanks for your interest in our plugins. I’ll do my best to answer your questions.

Question 1: Would I be to setup a ticket like this

    Name
    Gamertag
    City & State
    Venue [x] $10 1/250 (pre selected already)
    Game1 [ ] $10 0/96
    Game2 [X] $10 1/96
    Game3 [ ] $10 0/96

We have five ticketing plugins that use different ecommerce services. For each one, tickets are attached to an event. So you could set up an event at X location and have different tickets available for it, such as Game 1, Game 2, etc.

At this time, none of our plugins would allow you to collect the information exactly as you describe above. What you do collect is the purchaser’s full name, and in some instances their address, and then payment info. It is also not possible to pre-select or require something like the venue payment- that would have to be made as a ticket that people could buy.

Question 2: Can it add the value as they select the games to give them the total amount like below
    Total: $20

The value of different selected tickets is shown in the Cart, which varies slightly depending on which of the ecommerce solutions you are using.

Question 3: Would I then be able to extract individual reports for each category (venue/game1/game2/etc..)

This depends on the ecommerce solution you choose. WooCommerce has pretty sophisticated reports available. However, do note that you would only be able to extract reports on tickets- you wouldn’t be able to get a report on all tickets sold at X location or something like that.

It is possible that one of our plugins could work for you with some customizing, but unfortunately that’s not something we’d be able to assist with. I recommend that you take a look at the New User Primers for any particular plugins that interest you. Those give a good idea of the backend of the plugin, and what exactly each one can do.

Thanks again for your interest, and do let us know if you have any further questions.

    Best,

    Leah
