ParticipantHey Tim,
I have seen some strange encoding issues for other users using Excel. When they export, the created CSV doesn’t allows manage special characters properly and imports “?” in their place.
This could be whats happening here since you’re seeing the proper symbols when using Wordpad. As an alternative, have you tried using Google Spreadsheets to see if the way you currently enter the codes works when exporting from there?
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks!
Josh
ParticipantHey Sitecrafting,
I took a look at the internal ticket and it is set to be addressed in our next release. Barring any unforeseen circumstances this should be cleared up with the next update to the plugin.
I’ll go ahead and close this thread for now. You’ll still continue to get updates here as we make progress on this issue. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to open a new thread.
Thanks!

ParticipantHey,
Thanks for following up with us!
The notes from WPEngine are very interesting. So it looks like there is something in the database most likely associated with the events meta that is causing this issue. Would you mind sending us a database dump of the latest content that is breaking the site so we can do some testing with your database content here?
Thanks!
Josh
ParticipantHey John,
Try replacing the above with the following code and see if it resolves the issue for you:

ParticipantHey Tim,
Thanks for following up!
For the CSV, I just copied the contents of the existing file that you emailed. Traditionally when using currency codes though, I’m on a Apple and the commands are “option +” an additional character. I imagine this would be the same for the “Alt-0128” that you’re currently using.
I’ll check with the team to see if there is any additional insight I can get from a Windows user on the team.
Thanks!

ParticipantHey Cindy,
Thanks for following up! I’m glad we were able to get to the root of this issue and hopefully you won’t have to struggle with those errors any longer. I know those types of things can be frustrating.
I’m also not sure on the Excel issue. One thought could potentially be the font that is being used? But that would seem unlikely to me.
Also, thanks for giving some additional information about the import statuses! I’ll do some further testing on that and there could potentially be some error handling that we could provide clearer reference for.
Finally, I’ll go ahead and close this thread for now. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to open a new thread.
Thanks!

ParticipantHey Anna,
Thanks for following up with us.
The differences shown here could definitely be a sign. However, I would expect once we turned debugging on that any code level issues here that were causing the page to crash would have error messaging displayed here. You could try adding the debug log option from here and seeing if any error information gets added to an error log that isn’t getting displayed?
Being on WPEngine and your staging site working the way you would like, have you tried copying your staging site to your live site to see if the issue persists? If there are content differences between the two sites, WPEngine does have an option for just migrating the site files and not the database.
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks!

ParticipantHey Brendan,
Thanks for following up.
I did some testing and it looks like if, using the Twenty Fifteen theme, I copy the code from the view above and paste it into the sidebar template the filters will work properly on the main query.
The filters should work on the main query on the page. Try removing any of the additional calendars from the page and see if that helps.
Thanks!

ParticipantHey Eric,
Thanks for following up with us. I did some testing but wasn’t able to replicate. A couple of additional questions that may help us out:
- You say this is happening about half of the time. Is this happening consistently for the same event or does one recurrence have single instances that this happens for and others that it doesn’t?
- Does this happen to just events created before the update or just events created after the update? Or does this happen to any recurring event no matter when it was created?
- I notice that a couple of your TEC plugins have notes in the description about customizations to the core files. Does the issue persist if you use fresh versions of the plugins?
- Finally, have you tried following the Testing for Conflicts procedures to ensure there isn’t a conflict with another plugin or theme?
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks!

ParticipantHey Josh,
No problem! Happy to help.
That’s a tough one to say. It all depends on the customizations that you’re wanting to make and how far the functionality you need deviates from the way the plugin’s (in this case I’m guessing PRO & one of our Ticketing add-ons for Registrtaion) built-in functionality.
Generally speaking, if it’s a display related customization I’d imagine you would be ok in accomplishing the customizations with a little guidance here in the forums and by using our Themer’s Guide.
If you need to change the way the plugin behaves, you may have a bit harder time. We can give you some direction here in the forums, however we are a bit limited in the amount of customization support that we are able to offer.
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks!
