Display Category Description on Event Category Page

I’ve looked through the forums and found a few old posts on how to do this but none worked. Specifically, this one seemed the easiest and most current, but I can’t get it working (https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/show-category-description/).

I’m just trying to get the event category description field to display on the category page /events/category/xxxx

I’ve copied the template file /plugins/the-events-calendar/src/views/list/content.php
to my-theme/tribe-events/list/content.php

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
