ParticipantHi! Your video for Filter Bar seems to show users choosing their options from the sidebar. I’d like to do this to our website. Is there a way to put them in the widget area? I see there are some new widgets in our panel after installing the software, but none seem to be filters. Is there a way to accomplish this?
This seems like a straightforward question, but I did check the forums and nothing seemed to answer my question.
Thanks! 🙂

ParticipantHey Brendan,
Thanks for reaching out to us!
For the previews, the filters aren’t in the sidebar but they can be set to display to the side of the calendar. Within the Filter Bar settings there is an option to set the position of the filters (https://cloudup.com/cn2NnPOpwHq). Set that to vertical and it should display to the side of the calendar.
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks!

ParticipantOk, I see. Thanks for clarifying.
Let’s try a different approach. What I want to do is put this in the left bar, if at all possible. If it can’t be done through the normal interface, is there a way I can take the code from the main events display page and move it elsewhere? Ultimately, I’d like it to show up in the left widget area for desktop and a custom pullout menu for mobile.
What’s the easiest way to do this?
Also, is there a way to put the other filters, like date, search, and near in the vertical column as well?
Thanks!

ParticipantHey Brendan,
Unfortunately I don’t believe there is a straightforward way to move this information over.
What you could try doing, take a look at the src > views > filter-bar > filter-view-horizontal.php. You could potentially copy that file’s content into your sidebar.php file and have it only conditionally display on the main calendar pages. This is an untested theory, but would be a step in the right direction for what you’re trying to accomplish.
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks!

ParticipantI used vertical, but I think it still applies.
Where it worked:
It looks great! It seemed to install without any problems at all. The features are there and it displayed all the variables. This actually fit in a lot better than I thought it would.Where it did not work:
Clicking an option doesn’t refresh the results, and the open and close menu toggle doesn’t work. I suppose the JavaScript isn’t getting called, but I’m not sure why. I tried putting the form tags around it, but that didn’t work. (It worked when I wrote my own code for the buttons.)Any ideas how I could get the JavaScript to work?
This is coming along nicely! 🙂 Thanks for all your help.

ParticipantHey Brendan,
Thanks for following up.
I did some testing and it looks like if, using the Twenty Fifteen theme, I copy the code from the view above and paste it into the sidebar template the filters will work properly on the main query.
The filters should work on the main query on the page. Try removing any of the additional calendars from the page and see if that helps.
Thanks!

ParticipantOk, yeah. I figured that out over the weekend. If I have more than one instance, I have duplicate IDs, and only one of them works. Thanks!

ParticipantHey Brendan,
No problem! Glad you were able to get this set up the way you would like.
I’ll go ahead and close this thread for now. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to open a new thread.
