    Hey Gilles,

    First of all, sorry about missing that extra “L” in your name! 🙂

    Next, I think we should try and narrow down the scope of your issues here, as there are several different questions you’ve asked:

    Anyway, I’ve noticed that exporting a recurring event does not make it recurring on google. Seems like a bug or am I using the wrong link?

    Exporting one event to Google Calendar does not let Google Calendar know that it’s a recurring event, so it doesn’t happen automatically, but you should still be able to very easily set up a recurring event once you export it to Google. When you export an event from The Events Calendar’s gCal export link, you should be able to click a “Repeat” checkbox, as shown in this screenshot → https://cloudup.com/c3IRtaLOsMx

    If you click that, you should be met with a recurrence options form that is quite similar to the one within The Events Calendar itself, here’s a screenshot of how it looks → https://cloudup.com/cv2Q0mAu9cK

    You should then be able to set up the recurrence there with the same settings as on your WordPress site and have it work fine. Let us know if this is not the case!

    Google calendar does not support HTML so after you call get_the_content(), it would be great to pass it through an HTML to text converter.

    By your question here, do you mean that you’re hoping for a way to have basic HTML like bold text, italicized text, embedded links, etc. right within the Google Calendar description box? If so, we agree with you and share your desire for such functionality. However, there is no way to enable this, and we’ve spent hours over time applying different filters to the gCal export URL to achieve different things – embedded HTML is unfortunately not possible at this time. If you mean something else, can you elaborate on what you mean a little bit more?

    One last thing for today, it would be great if the additional fields could be included too.

    This is technically possible, though a bit beyond the scope of our support forums – let’s clear up all your other questions here first, leaving this as the only thing here, then I can share some example code on how to do this.

    Okay I have one more. It would be great if there was a filter on this line of wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/lib/the-events-calendar.class.php: $event_details = get_the_content(); Then I could easily manipulate the content myself, e.g. I could remove the html tags.

    This is good feedback and appreciated – it’s definitely something to consider. In the meantime, if you’re trying to remove HTML tags, we offered some code examples to do this in this other forum post here → https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/html-code-showing-in-description-when-event-exported-to-google-calendar/

    Definitely check that out and let us know if it helps!

    Thanks Gilles!

    Hey TK,

    Thank you so much for your explanation here, I definitely understand your issue now and appreciate your patience with my slowness in understanding it! 🙂

    This should be working, so I’m curious – if you go to a venue that is imported from a Facebook import, and does not show up in your Community Events submission form venues dropdown, does anything change if you simply “Save” this Venue (without actually making any changes to it)? I’m curious if this will then add that venue to your Community dropdown – if so, that could reveal some important information about this behavior and where along the import process the venues are not saving correctly.

    Let me know what you find by doing this TK, and again: thanks for your patience with the issue thus far. I’m sorry it took me so long to grasp the entirety of your issue here.

    Thank you!

    Hey Paul,

    Thanks for further information here. I’m curious, what’s the exact functionality you find when you have a default theme like Twenty Twelve active on your site?

    Also: would you be willing to leave Twenty Twelve active on your site for us to check things out with that theme? I understand how painful this can be on a live site, but it is immensely helpful.

    Thanks for your patience Paul,

    Hey Preston,

    Unfortunately, at this time the only way to alter the number of events shown from that widget is the “Number of events shown:” field in the widget itself – to edit this from the shortcode, you’d have to edit code directly in the plugin files, which is usually a bad idea.

    Sorry to disappoint here Preston. What are your thoughts on this? Is editing core plugin code directly something you’re willing to take a chance with?

    As for your issues with an unlimited number of events showing up beneath your instances of that shortcode, if you try just using the widget directly – like adding a widget area on front-page.php or something – does this issue persist? Or are you indeed able to set the number of events to show up using the “Number of events shown:” widget option?

    Hey Elise,

    Sorry for the trouble you’ve run into with these plugins on your site – there is often, unfortunately, not much we can do to address problems if they arise from a conflict with another plugin.

    What might be useful, though, is to try and learn more about what, exactly, is causing the conflict itself. To do this, I’d recommend seeing if any errors pop up on your site if you head to your site’s wp-config.php file and change this line of code:

    define('WP_DEBUG', false);

    to this:

    define('WP_DEBUG', true);

    That will display PHP errors on your site if any exist, which might reveal something about your conflicts in more detail – make this change and then do similar “troubleshooting”/testing steps like you mention in your original reply (i.e. paging back and forth through events pages, activating and deactivating the Access plugin, etc.)

    As you go about your troubleshooting, if any errors pop up copy and paste them in their entirety into Gists at http://gist.github.com, and share links to those Gists.

    Thanks Elise!

    Hi Amanda,

    Thanks for renewing your license! I’m sorry you’ve run into trouble after doing so – I’m curious though, if you head to https://theeventscalendar.com/license-keys/, which will show the license keys and activations for your account, what do you find?

    Take a screenshot of your “Active Installs” list – is it full? Are any of the listings there bogus, or from sites that you no longer have the calendar active on? Let us know.

    For example, I only have my license active on one site, so this is how my active installs looks (I blocked out the license key itself) → https://cloudup.com/cS6k3Chc2K1

    Thanks Amanda, sorry for the trouble here. Hopefully we can sort this out promptly.

    Cheers!

    Hey Eric,

    There isn’t RSVP functionality built into any of our core plugins – can you clarify what exact RSVP functionality you’re referring to on your site, and how you added it there? Take screenshots if possible, and if you’re using an external plugin, can you share a link to where you got the plugin specifically?

    Sorry for any misunderstanding here – I’m just not 100% certain what you mean and want to make sure we understand your query so we can help you as best as possible!

    Thanks,
    George

    Hey Spencer,

    There is indeed not a problem with the plugin CSS – by default, Chrome sets those arrows on “number” input types to only show up on hover.

    I found the following bit of CSS online that fixes this:

    input[type=number]::-webkit-inner-spin-button {
        opacity: 1 !important;
    }

    Try adding that to the bottom of your theme’s style.css file and let us know if it helps!

    Hey Erika!

    We normally can’t provide support for customizations, but this is an interesting question and I’ve recalled a handful of other folks asking for something like this over recent months, so I wrote up a quick custom code snippet that should enable this – in a basic sense, at least – on your site.

    Simply take the code in the following Gist and add it to your theme’s functions.php file → https://gist.github.com/ggwicz/03f78ab42eb828c75a21

    This isn’t necessarily very pretty, and creating a whole other table column is quite an extensive thing to do, so this just adds the phone number beneath the email address, as shown in this screenshot → https://cloudup.com/c3FqS49Zyh2

    But it works very well (the screenshot shows the same number for each attendee because I used the same number for each order in this test list, but it does work fine and show the correct number for each order!), and when you print the list, the number is there 🙂

    I hope this helps!

    Cheers,
    George

    Hey Jeremy!

    Thanks for reaching out and for your input here – I’m curious about your first comment though. Can you elaborate a bit on what the “Remove/show option(s) on featured image displaying on single event.” would be, in your ideal?

    Another thing to note is that if you have feature ideas like this, we urge you to voice your opinions loud and clear over out our official UserVoice page here → http://tribe.uservoice.com/forums/195723-feature-ideas

    We’ve rolled many a feature or tweak from that page into our code, and it’s a great way to have your voice heard – vote up an idea if it’s similar to what you already posted here, and if not, then submit your own idea and anyone can come along and vote on it if they want it, too.

    Cheers! 🙂

    Hey Colin,

    Thanks for reaching out here. First, if you already have the Event ID, then does the simpler function get_post() work for you? Like this:

    $post = get_post( 1001 );

    That example assumes that 1001 is your post ID. You can learn more about the get_post() function here → https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/get_post

    If you’re only querying for one event post, I really recommend just using get_post() instead of WP_Query.

    If you want to use WP_Query instead, then one thing I noticed about the code you posted here was a typo for the ‘post_status’ parameter. In the code you posted, it looked like this:

    ‘post_status’ => array(‘draft’,)

    That extra comma after the word ‘draft’ could be causing problems, so make sure it’s just this:

    'post_status' => array( 'draft' )

    Let us know if any of this information helps!

    Cheers,
    George

    Thanks for testing that out Joe – and sorry to keep going back and forth over small details here, but just to clarify, is that “MAN’s Breakfast” the event the only event with this issue?

    I was exploring your site a bit and there are many recurring events, and they all seemed to work fine for me except that one event.

    Thanks for your patience Joe!

    Hi Gordon,

    Hm, this does work for me, as shown in these screenshots → https://cloudup.com/csTNHdheFcs

    Are you certain you’re running the most recent versions of The Events Calendar, the WooTickets add-on, and WooCommerce itself? If not, please update to the latest versions of all of these plugins and see if that changes anything.

    If that still doesn’t help, then unfortunately there may be little further we can do from our end – something on your site is clearly preventing this code from running correctly, which could be a wide number of things.

    Let us know if updating to the most recent version of things helps.

    Thanks,
    George

    P.S.

    Can you try pasting your entire new, modified functions.php file into a Gist and sharing the link to it like you did before? Thanks!

    Hi Marty,

    Thank you for clarifying things a bit – for me personally, both the default functions themselves and Josh’s solution get the proper results for me, but a known bug is that some people’s sites don’t get the correct result from those template tags.

    We’ve got an active fix in place – are you interested in manually replacing your versions of those template tags with new ones? Or is holding off for the next update and trying all this out again a workable option here?
