MemberHi there, Gavin! Sorry you’re hitting some trouble here, but let’s see if we get figure it out here together.
It’s very possible it just needs to be placed somewhere else in your functions.php file or the syntax needs to be checked. I just added the snippet to the very bottom of my own file and it worked well.
Some other things to check:
- Is there a closing PHP tag before the snippet? If so, you’ll want to paste the snippet before that, or add new opening/closing PHP tags around the snippet.
- <span style=”line-height: 13px;”>Are there blank lines at the end of the file? That can sometimes cause issues.</span>
- Are there an stray spaces, commas or semicolons?
Give those a try and keep me posted with what you find. ๐
Cheers!

MemberHi David, thanks for getting in touch! Sorry you’re running into an issue here, but hopefully we can tackle it together. ๐
We’ve actually come across something like this before. It turned out that, unless the code written for the breadcrumb functionality is checking for custom taxonomies (like Events), then it will not know what to do with and would return nothing–or in your case, a 404.
There is a tutorial on how to overcome this. Admittedly, it’s a little dated. Additionally, it may not address the specific way that your theme handles breadcrumbs.
I hope the example in the tutorial points you in the right direction. If not, it may very well be worth checking in with the theme author to confirm whether breadcrumbs are checking for custom post types and taxonomies.
Does this help answer your question? Please let me know. ๐

MemberHi there, Mathieu! Welcome to the forums. ๐
Great question. There are a couple of different ways to go about it.
1) Create new theme templates. I imagine the Title and Breadcrumbs are theme options that are being included in one of the global theme files (like header.php, for example). You could create a new page template that does not include those options (or modifies them) and set the events pages to use the new template in Events > Settings > Display.
2) Conditionally remove them. If you are able to locate what file is injecting those options, you may be able to go in there and wrap those lines in a PHP condition that excludes them from Events pages. For example:
<?php if ย is_page( 'events' ) { // Your theme's code } ?>Either of these options should get you where you want to go but, honestly, it may be something to contact the theme author about if you need specific guidance on how to extend the theme’s functionality.
Does that make sense? Will that work for you? Please let me know. ๐

MemberHi there, Cameron! Thanks for getting in touch. ๐
Great question. Events are setup as a custom post type, but are not quite treated like posts when it comes to the Subscriptions module in Jetpack. I would suggest making this happen by adding Events to WordPress’s built in RSS. Here’s a tutorial on how to how to do that. From there, any RSS-to-email services should be able to fetch Events into the feed.
Does that make sense? Will that work for you? Please let me know.
