July 20, 2016 at 7:41 am in reply to: Can "Next Events" append the next events to bottom of list rather than replace? #1141895
Geoff
MemberHi David, thanks for getting in touch and welcome back.
I tried looking for a snippet that might help, but came up short. I think the idea of loading in more events when clicking “Next Events” instead of reloading the page is possible, but will definitely take a fair amount of custom development. While we’re limited in how much we can support questions like these, we do have a list of folks we’d recommend to help build that functionality.
You had also asked about the possibility of anchoring to the top of the list when the page reloads instead of the very top of the page. To do that, you would need to add an anchor to the top of the list and append that anchor to the Next Events link.
You can find the template for the Map ViewΒ here:
/wp-content/plugins/events-calendar-pro/src/views/pro/map/content.php…and the template for the Next Events link here:
/wp-content/plugins/events-calendar-pro/src/views/pro/map/nav.phpOverride those templates (more on this in our Themer’s Guide) so you don’t lose your changes on plugin updates.
Sorry I don’t have a concrete solution for you here, but does this at least help get your started? Please let me know.
Thanks!

MemberHi Elaine,
Oh shoot, sorry for the trouble here with the radio buttons in the ticket fieldset!
Would you be willing to expand the settings for the radio buttons from the screenshot you shared? I tried creating some myself on a default WordPress installation like you (Twenty Sixteen, no other plugins) and all seemed to work (screenshot), but let’s see if your field settings are different from mine (screenshot) and narrow this down from there.
I also happened to notice that you are running Events Calendar PRO 4.2.1 and there is a newer version available. Would you be willing to update to version 4.2.2.1 (download is available here on this site in your account)? That shouldn’t have an impact here, but I’d like to rule that out just in case.
Thanks!

MemberHey Zach,
Great question! The Events Calendar itself is not designed to support searching an external database. However, if the events exist in another site/database and they are contained in an .ics format that is hosted on a server, then you could use our iCal Importer add-on to fetch those events and display them in WordPress. It will allow you to fetch from as many feeds as you need, and do so on a scheduled basis.
Will that work? Please let me know!

MemberDarn, I was hoping it was only isolated to the address.
I would bet the theme author has a function to help strip out the paragraph tags. However, we could expand the CSS to apply to all event content:
#tribe-events .bdaia-post-content p { display: inline !important; }That will have an effect across the entire calendar plugin. If that doesn’t quite do the trick, then let’s see what the theme author suggests from there.
Thanks!

MemberHi Chris,
That’s a great question — we actually prefer to refer folks to other freelancers who are available to help out with customizations. We have a list of people we happily recommend here:

MemberHey Chris,
Absolutely! Yes, UK addresses will work just fine.
As far as changing increments, I do not believe that is a possibility without custom development. So, 5 miles is the smallest increment right out of the box.

MemberHey Nate,
So sorry for the trouble here! I see exactly what you mean.
That’s really odd because the plugin does not include those paragraph tags by default. Do you happen to see any difference if you head to Events > Settings > Display and switching the Events Template setting to the “Default Events Template” option? I’m hoping that does the trick.
If it doesn’t then I think it will require either some custom CSS or input from the theme author to help figure out why those tags are being added. For example, this CSS might help:
.tribe-events-venue-details .bdaia-post-content p { display: inline !important; }Let’s start there and see what we find. π
Cheers!

MemberHi Chris,
Thanks for checking out the plugins! I hope they’re a great fit for your project. π
If you’re looking for a distance filter, then I’d recommend our Filter Bar add-on in addition to Events Calendar PRO. It includes a filter that allows visitors to search events within a general radius of where and event’s venue is located. There’s much more on that as well as the other filters available right here in this article.
I also recorded a little screencast to illustrate how the distance filter works once a visitor has performed a location search.
Does this help answer your question? Please let me know.
Cheers!
