You’re not alone, Derek. It did seem to work for a few days, but the next release then broke it. It’s looking like another 2 weeks according to this thread. https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/importing-facebook-is-not-done/

I’m dumbfounded that something can be tested as thoroughly as claimed … clearly there’s issues with the testing process.

I am also too heavily invested in this to change directions now, everything else is great and is exactly what i need! I just wish the Aggregator would work and become stable.

It won’t be long until my license expires on this product and i’ll have some serious issues with paying to renew it, i doubt i’m the only one who feels the same?!

Frustrating beyond words to have something working for albeit a matter of days, then it’s broken … again, now we’re told it needs to go through rigourous “assigning, coding, testing and release” … how is it gets broken after it works without the ability to quickly roll it back from your side? Clearly very little testing goes on, the forum is riddled with people with the same issues.

I really question if we’ll ever get a plugin that works, without being broken again in a subsequent release a few days later – I’m running out of confidence but I have no other option.

    Please resolve this ASAP.

I’m experiencing the same. The schedule looked like it was running fine, then after the update (prior to the most recent one solving fatal errors on earlier PHP versions) it stopped again. I can now run manually and that works flawlessly (after the php version fix) but the schedule isn’t running … and i’ve waited several days to see if it would kick off.

I’ll watch this thread, i won’t create my own, the countless times i’ve done so it never results in a solution / fix other than “planned for sometime soon”.

Frustrating to still be having issues with this some ~8 months after it was implemented.

Thanks Victor, i won’t be creating a seperate thread – i’ve mentioned this to support before that it’s pointless. I go to the trouble only to be told it’s pending a fix in the next release.

I’m still waiting on several things to be fixed from months ago, scheduled import failing etc …. I’ve come to the realisation it may or many not be in the next release, regardless of what i’m told.

I’m getting the same issue with the dates for new events being set to January 1, 1970 @ 12:00 am which makes the calendar look terrible.

I’ve switched it back to not re-importing events and hopefully that sorts existing events out.

When i manually try and edit the start date of the event it forces out the finished date to 18/11/2064 which i can’t override.

I will literally punch holes in walls if i’m told this is scheduled in an upcoming maintenance release and that’s weeks away!

Hi again Colin, I’ve just re read your original post – I too would like to append the organizer as you suggest.

Would love to see this functionality developed, as I’m sure many others would.

    Thanks,

    Neil

Hi Colin, I’m very interested to understand how your auto publishing the events to Facebook, it’s something I’m wanting to do.

I have no requirent to append any text, I’m just looking to add the event.

If you’d be kind enough to share the info I’d be very grateful.

    Thanks,

    Neil

Hi George, just confirming the import / scheduled import fix didn’t make it in to the release? I haven’t noticed any improvements with the scheduled imports but wanted to confirm.

    Thanks,

    Neil

You’re not alone Thomas. While I understand Georges’ comments about working quickly gets sloppy results and diligently taking longer but getting correct results it would seem those statements are incorrect.

I see the Event Agregator was released mid October 2016 … we’re now in early March, that’s a good 4 months and counting and the tool isn’t progressing much. Very disappointed but still hopeful we’ll get a solution soon.

Please don’t tell me it’ll be a few more weeks.

The only issue is there were no images created, the 30 new events were all individual / different events from one organizer.

    https://www.facebook.com/themidnightshiftsydney

Would like be able to run it again and have the event image imported.

Yes, I imported one Facebook URL from a page that regularly has events – a total of 30 new events were created.

I feel your pain Thomas, i’ve given up all hope that the next fix will be any better at all – with every ‘fix’ there seems to be so many more problems than the last.

Seriously, how can it be that hard??? And breaking things like the Facebook image when it worked without fail? That’s just plain sloppy that is.

We have several full page adverts coming out in nation wide magazines next month – and all i have at the moment is a calendar in tatters with no event images, no google maps … what a waste of money that’s looking like.

I relented and imported an event manually, sure enough 30 new events were created, all with NO Event Image! I don’t know what’s worse, the scheduled import never working or now the Facebook event image not importing when done manually?

This is why i haven’t run the 80 scheduled imports manually.

The suffering for choosing this ‘solution’ continues – and please don’t come back and tell me it’s going to be weeks until a fix, we need this working now.

Coming from a Software development background i’m amazed at the ‘development’ of this plugin …

Hi George, i’ve updated my plugin but still not getting any of the scheduled imports to work – and I notice many new threads with the same issue so i’m guessing it’s not just me. I haven’t checked to see if the Facebook images are failing, which i’ve also seen reported, because i don’t get any scheduled imports so no new events.

I loathe to run the import manually and bring in a heap of events with no FB image so i’ll just sit and wait for another month to pass without a working solution – i have no doubt your licensing renewal date works spot on though and that payment will work without issue.

Like i’ve seen others mention, it seems with every “fix” there’s new issues that arise that were supposedly fixed previously – i don’t see how this can be that hard, although it clearly is.

I’ve built a system based on this working and have invested too much time and effort to back track now.

Hoping for a solution soon …

No worries Geoff, it’s good to be able to pinpoint something therefore be able to fix it!

    Cheers,

    Neil
