ParticipantHi Geoff,
I’ve just run a manual update on all events, it bought in some 250 … interestingly the only one to create a duplicate venue is this one …
Saint Martins Place – Arts, Events & Entertainment Space which is now up to saint-martins-place-arts-events-entertainment-space-6 so i’m thinking it’s something to do with one of the characters in the venue name, not picking up that it’s a duplicate … the “-, or &” perhaps?
Thanks,
Neil

ParticipantHi Geoff, i can’t find the events created with that venue, but i do see there’s now a 4th iteration … saint-martins-place-arts-events-entertainment-space-4
I’ve checked and i don’t see the merge duplicate button. I do see a “Fix geolocation data” that says … “You have 2 venues for which we don’t have geolocation data. We need to use the Google Maps API to get that information. Doing this may take a while (approximately 1 minute for every 200 venues).”
I hit that button, it reloads the page, but it still says 2 venues etc …
Thanks,
Neil

ParticipantHi Geoff,
OK, looks like some progress.
Here’s the 2 screen shots. ALL of my events are scheduled, however to get them to kick off i hit the “Run Now” button.
I’ve looked for the Merge duplicate venues but it doesn’t appear, even though i can still confirm “Saint Martins Place – Arts, Events & Entertainment Space” appears 3 times, it even has the same slug “saint-martins-place-arts-events-entertainment-space-3” … which is probably a good thing, so at least all events are grouped together event though it appears in the back end as a different venue.
Thanks,
Neil

ParticipantHi Geoff,
In response to your questions;
1: I’ve sent 2 images, 1 of the global settings and 1 of the Facebook settings, what other screen shot do you need?
2: I haven’t noticed any to be more problematic than others. It’s very hard to tell what’s succeeded and what hasn’t, i can only go by the number of events listed incrementing up. Setting newly imported events to “Draft” or another group isn’t practical.
3: I can’t confirm they were before or after the latest update. Of those 3, they were created 8th of Jan, 8th of Jan and 9th of Jan. I don’t recall when i upgraded the plugins and whether or not they were created with a scheduled import or manual – i would suggest manual, because scheduled doesn’t seem to do much at the moment. (See my other logged issues pending a fix)Thanks,
Neil

ParticipantThanks Hunter, i’ve installed that plugin and will monitor it. If i manually run each import i get events no problems, but the scheduler is always returning red error marks.

ParticipantHi Hunter,
So following the steps above, from the Dashboard … select Events > Import > Scheduled Imports then select and event as pictured.
There’s an option in there to choose the default category … which i’ve done before, but it had dropped off.
The Scheduled Import is the one that’s never worked with much success, i need to run it manually for the events to be imported.
I have a mass of events with no image, what’s the best way to get them to update with an image? I have NO confidence in deleting them all then re-importing. I don’t like the idea of the FB over-writting the event as i have to edit most venues to add address details, i don’t want these to go back to blank.
Let me know if you need anythings else.

ParticipantHi Hunter, i was referring to Events > Import > Scheduled Imports … selecting the event, editing it and choosing a status and category. I had them all set, seems the one i tested dropped off. I’ve fixed it now, but will continue to check.
There’s no events being imported in the schedule, they all fail … they do work if i manually run them though, but with 80 facebook organisers, that’s not feasible.

ParticipantHi Hunter,
I did that, results as follows. Facebook Event image now appearing, which is good … on a manual import, i haven’t seen a scheduled import run yet. The problem with the manual import is now it’s created with a black organiser and not using the default category.
After spending an hour digging up the license keys for plugins that were disabled then re-activated, i’m still yet to get the Favicon one working. I won’t be disabling ALL plugins again anytime soon.
I ad already updated to 4.3.4.1 this morning, will send the new info in a private message now.

ParticipantI saw the update and was thrilled to test it. After installing it i manually imported a heap of events, something i haven’t done for a month because i didn’t want events with no picture. Around 60 events imported, across several different organisers.
Not one Facebook Event image. I give up!!!
Still no Google Map for the events either, absolutely no change at all from what i can see.
Don’t ask me to disable every plugin and run multiple tests … i don’t have the time.
Once again, let down wondering why I’ve invested so much time into this.

ParticipantHi Andras and Geoff, thanks for the detailed replies.
I eagerly check every day in the hope of seeing an update that will fix the issues we’re having, unfortunately the latest update made things worse with the Facebook event featured image not coming through.
I was quite prepared to manually hit the import button on the relevant pages that i knew would have new events, but doing so and not getting an image is unacceptable.
Our business model relies on the community seeing a vast array of events, all with a featured image, a Google map, assigned to the relevant organise and so on … a certain level of completeness – That entices them to list their events with us and sell tickets where applicable.
With incomplete / duplicate events the calendar looks like a shambles so our business has come to a stand still – we can no promote or engage new event organisers for fear they’ll deem our site incapable of selling tickets with 100% confidence.
I really hope there’s some major improvements and fast.
Thanks,
Neil

ParticipantI’ve just noticed that as of the last update of the plugins to 4.3.3 i’m no longer getting the Facebook image.
Annoyingly i’ve had to manually import these events because the scheduled import doesn’t work.
I’m absolutely livid with this weak plugin, the weak support and the weak fixes that break more than they solve!

ParticipantThanks very much, Nico. I’ll look at getting this implemented directly. Cheers!
