MemberHey Angie. Definitely not saying to delete everything. Any deleting would be the customer’s sole decision, but I suggested trying it as a workaround since you’re in a staging site anyway.
With all that we’ve tried so far, we now need to know more about any patterns you can discern.
Do you know of any commonalities among the “trouble events”, like custom recurrence rules, having date exceptions, or are all of them scheduled as a certain time period (e.g. weekly or monthly)?
For the 1 event that was working but now isn’t, do you know what changed… Did you update one of our plugins or a different one? Did you switch themes? Did you edit the event after creating it? Did a certain amount of time pass and then something happened? Do you know of any other events that might have been the same way (working before but not anymore)?
Cliff
MemberCool. Let me know how it comes along for you.

MemberWay to go, Mathew! What a customer — an all-star move!
M, thanks for confirming your issue is resolved.

MemberHi David. Sorry to hear this. I know it’s frustrating when stuff doesn’t work, especially when clients are involved. I’ll definitely help you get things working!
Can you reproduce these troubleshooting steps? (i.e. is this your issue?)
• Go to Events > Settings, and make sure the “Recurring event instances” option is NOT checked.
• Go to a single event on the front-end of your site. Click the “Previous Event” and “Next Event” links and confirm that they work.
• Go back to Events > Settings, and this time CHECK the “Recurring event instances” option.
• Go back to a single event on your site, and again check the “Previous” and “Next” Events links.
• They should work fine and be accurate in pointing to the actual previous and next event, respectively. If that DOES seem to be your issue, please know that we’re aware of the bug and are working on it. We don’t give ETAs, but — if this is your issue — I can add this forum ticket to the list of tickets that should be updated once the fix is released.

MemberLet’s first address the issue of not being able to edit these events via wp-admin.
I doubt it’s a “page 3” issue… if you created 20 more events, it’d probably become a “page 4” or “page 5” issue.
However, those “page 3” events may have been created at the same time, like during a time there might have been a bug or plugin conflict while creating them.
Can you Trash them instead of Editing them? If yes, is deleting and recreating them a possible resolution?
Do you know of any commonalities among these “page 3” recurring events, like custom recurrence rules, have date exceptions, or are all scheduled a certain time period (e.g. weekly or monthly)?
Again, sorry you’re experiencing this frustrating issue. We’re determined to get to the bottom of things and really appreciate all your information and cooperation!

MemberI double-checked with the devs and the answer is, unfortunately, to just wait. It is high priority so should come soon. If you want to dabble, you may be able to comment out the line that’s throwing the error but that’s untested and at your own risk.
We’re on it and should get you the fix soon!
Cliff
MemberPylon, thanks for the thorough question and screenshot. They always help!

Obviously, change the $output to whatever button/link you want.
You could also use one of the other hooks (like
tribe_events_single_event_after_the_metato insert your Gravity Forms shortcode with do_shortcode).And check out https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/featured-images/ to see how to hide/modify the single event’s featured image display.
Let me know how these things go for you.

MemberM, welcome to the Tribe community, and thanks for your detailed question.
I just tested on my local install and it works as you’re expecting:
- add an Events List / Upcoming Events widget
- bottom of that widget’s output has a “View More…” link
- and that link DOES go to the main All Events page (e.g. example.com/events)
Where does your “View More…” link go to?
Cliff
MemberHi Frank. Thanks for drawing our attention to that neat little Events Search widget. It’s custom (not part of our plugins), but I shared it with the team.
You could create your own if you choose. You can get some help from https://wordpress.org/support/topic/how-to-create-a-search-widget — and make note of how the Boise State widget’s search URL turns into something like this: ___.edu/?s=hello&tax_id=athletic&venue=23272&start_date=2015-11-05
I hope this information helps.
Cliff
MemberBrandon, thanks for letting me know you got everything straightened out on your end.
Venues should be able to have an empty address, but I imagine if an address is “123 <no street> New York, NY” then it’d fail to get mapped.
Good find, and I’m glad you got it worked out.
Cheers!

MemberRobin, possibly another way to accomplish what you’re wanting (possibly without the need for the Themer’s Guide unless you want additional customizations) is to leverage the template_include filter.
In my quickie testing, I didn’t get it to work perfectly, but it could be a hint in the right direction.

MemberAngie, I noticed you’re not using the latest version of The Events Calendar or PRO. You need to always use the latest versions for us to provide the best support.
Please update via WordPress automatic updates or manually from:
- https://theeventscalendar.com/my-account/downloads/
Once you have the latest versions, please try out different permalink settings and see if you can get one to work.
If none of them work even after that, please create a NEW recurring event and see if that one has the same permalink issue.
Thanks!
Cliff
MemberMad Dog, thanks for all the details.
I’ve had our developers look into this and it’s now a confirmed bug. Thanks for your help reporting it.
It’s definitely a high priority one and I’d hope it gets included in an upcoming release, but I can’t give any ETA. This ticket should get updated once the fix is released though.
Thanks!

MemberThanks. Do ANY of the default permalink options make it work?
October 29, 2015 at 8:25 pm in reply to: Use one template for Calendar and different one for single listings? #1020151Cliff
MemberHi Robin. Thanks for your detailed question.
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/wp-admin-settings-overview/#display describes our Display settings.
And it links to a help article about the “Events template” option in the settings page: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/stylesheets-and-page-templates/
If I understood your request, your plugin settings are “Tribe Event Styles” and “Default Page Template”, but you want the “Default Events Template” only for the main calendar/archive page.
I think you could accomplish what you’re wanting by referencing our Themer’s Guide. You could copy the template file you’re wanting to use to your child theme (e.g. for the month view).
Does this make sense?
