ParticipantHowdy martyspellerberg,
I do not believe that script serves any front-end purpose. Those popups only happen on the backend when editting and event — to my knowledge. I brought this to the attention of our devs so they can fix it in an upcoming release. Thank you for pointing this out! Every optimization helps when it comes to something as important as page load speeds. It is nice to get rid of a script when possible.
Let me know if you have any other questions. If not, would you mind marking this topic resolved? Cheers!

ParticipantHowdy Gordon,
Based on your description The Events Calendar + WooTickets is perfect. You can certainly try setting up a text calendar with your events using the free version of The Events Calendar. That will give you access to the List and Month views. Perhaps one of those is exactly what you had envisioned for your “full page calendar”. If not, also checkout Events Calendar PRO, as it includes some other views that are very useful.
WooTickets adds purchasable tickets to each events. You can specify the details of each ticket like its cost. You can even have multiple ticket types for the tour if needed. Then when someone clicks on that Event/Tour, they will see an area where they can add tickets to their WooCommerce shopping cart. From their WooCommerce takes over and allows them to checkout.
Does that make sense? Do you have any other questions? Please let me know. Cheers!

ParticipantHowdy digitalmoxie,
That is a cool idea! This should be fairly easy if you know some PHP. To accomplish this you would need to follow our themer’s guide. Simply overrider month/single-event.php. That entire file is within the post loop, so anywhere in there you can add a call to Post Thumbnails. Of course it would make the most sense to put it within the main div in that file, and you might want to craft a custom thumbnail size.
Does that make sense? Will that work for you? Please let me know. Cheers!

ParticipantHowdy lgoodwin,
Welcome to WordPress! It is always a joy to have another member in the community.
That is a terribly unfortunate problem you have encoutnered. 🙁 I hate it when updates cause problems. Unfortunately, if a computer glitches at all during the update process it tends to be catastrophic to your data. Of course we all recognize that computer glitches happen and are inevitable, even crazy random things like the sun/stars occasionally cause them. That is why WordPress, Tribe, and all plugin developers implore you to make backups before updating (Note the first 3 steps..). Hopefully you have noticed the warnings WordPress generates each time you update asking you to make backups before proceeding, and followed those direction.
Do you have a backup from before the update? If so, simply restore it, and redo the update. That should fix the problem.
If you do not have a backup, might be up the creek without a paddle. You are far from the first person to make this mistake, but that does not make it any less painful. You should first contact your website host and ask them if the have a backup of your Database. Generally if they do it will cost you some money to retrieve, but many hosts, especially cheaper ones, do not have any such backup. If you are unable to get a backup from your host, then you will need to recreate any lost data. Before doing that though, make a backup. It is possible that your WordPress database is corrupted, and that you will soon start noticing some other glitches. In which case, you would need to export any data you can salvage from WP using the WP Admin > Tools > Export, then delete your database, and start with a fresh one.
There is a small possibility that even if you do have a backup, the same problem will manifest itself next time you update. This could be an indication that WordPress itself has become corrupted, or perhaps one or more of your plugins. There is also the possibility that your server environment does not work with the Update Script. But, we will not know if that is the case until we can retry the update.
Does that all make sense? Do you have any quetions, or were you able to get this fixed by following the above instructions? Please let me know. Cheers!

ParticipantHowdy acadres,
I am glad you posted. Your issue is a bit puzzling. By default our Related Events basically already works that way. This is how it should be functioning for you, and how it is functioning for others:
- It appears only if you have upcoming events in the category as the currently viewed Event
- It shows the next three upcoming events (from todays day) that are in the same category as that event
- If the event is not categorized, or if there are not upcoming events in its category the Related Events box is not displays
Can you double check that it is not functioning this way on your site? If so, then it would seem very likely that you a theme or plugin conflict. Would you mind running through our Events Calendar theme/plugin conflict troubleshooting guide? What is the result?
Please let me know if you have any questions. Cheers!

ParticipantI do hope that we can help you rallygoddess. Thank you for confirming that it is the theme. That is handy information, with it I was able to research a possible solution. Here is someone with basically the same issue, though you will not the description differs some I believe the root cause is the same.
The fix was simple enough if you do not mind dropping a line of code in your header.php. Of course, before doing that it is strongly recommended you create a Child Theme if you have not done so already. The line of code is:
<?php wp_reset_postdata(); ?>You should put that right after your news ticker if possible, likely inside of your theme’s header.php. Did that fix it?One setting change you could try is going into Wp Admin > Events > Settings > Display, and changing the Events template. Try out all of the templates, and test them to see if one or more of them fixes this. It is possible that none of them will, but it is worth a shot.
Finally, if you can disable your theme’s news ticker that might fix it too. Is there an option in there?
Let me know the result if you do not mind. That way I can share it with future users. Thanks again for posting, and taking all that time to research the issue. I hope the fix is not at hand. 🙂

ParticipantHowdy ellaj,
I am happy to assist you with those questions.
First of all there is a small bug in 3.6 that causes the reverse order day view problem. This can be fixed by inserting this snippet into your theme’s functions.php. Of course we will be fixing this soon in a plugin update.
Second, if you edit the event that only shows up in Day view, is the box ‘Hide this event from event listings’ checked? If so, you can uncheck it to show it other views.
Does that all make sense? Please let me know. Cheers!

ParticipantHowdy Jarrett Murphy,
That is not yet a feature of our plugin. It has been requested though by a few people. You should definitely voice your support for that feature here. We frequently review suggestions there to find out which ones are popular, then we implement as many of them as we can.
Do you have any other questions? Please let me know. Thanks!

ParticipantHowdy tammylfinch,
Thank you for taking the time to help us try and improve our plugin. It is very much appreciated. User insight like this helps us to create a better plugin, which is the entire goal!
The best way to suggest a feature for our plugin is by putting it on our uservoice page. This allows others who are interested in that feature to easily voice their support. We frequently review suggestions there to find out which ones are popular, then we implement as many of them as we can.
One thing I will note, we try and avoid popups when ever possible just like WordPress does. The reason is that they have strong negative connotations with a lot of users. Popups are frequently abused by advertisement companies or “Like our site” boxes, and many users have come to resent them in general. Furthermore they do not work well with the browser controls, for instance the back button does not get rid of them, and so a user has to scout for a close button that is generally unique in location/style to each site. They thus rob the user of a sense of control. That is why whenever possible we like to implement speedy ajax requests that work with the back button instead and leave full control up to the user. But, if a feature request for popups becomes popular we can certainly implement it anyways.
Please let me know if you have any questions. If not, would you mind marking this topic resolved? Thank you very much!

ParticipantAwesome! We are too. We are unable to squeeze it into this next release, as the plans for that have already been finalized and we are well under way. However, this feature is still planned for a different upcoming release. Thanks for posting!

ParticipantHowdy teammultiverse,
I am not sure if Yoast does or not. I am really not qualified to answer questions abotu their plugin. 🙁
The easiest possible fix is definitely adding that snippet. I totally understand if you are a bit trepid about it, and it is up to you. But here is a detailed guide on how to it, it is fairly easy:
Paste it at the top of your theme’s functions.php file, underneath the first line “<?php” on a blank/empty line. If your theme does not have a functions.php file, go to your theme folder, create a new text document file called “functions.php”, and paste this text in the first line of the file “<?php”. On line 2 or 3, paste that snippet.
I hope that helps. Please let me know what you decide. Thanks!
