    Hello Ridinggravel,

In the days following Yvonne’s post we found the cause of this issue. Basically there is text in the Event Cost field instead of a number, so the calendar does not understand it and generates an error. Obviously we do not want that error showing on the front end though, and we are working on version 4.0.2 of The Events Calendar which will stop those errors from showing. We will release this new version of the calendar as soon as it is ready, and then you can update.

Until then simply removing text from the event cost field will solve this issue. If you see an event generating errors, edit it and remove the text from the Event Cost field. If you need further assistance with this we would love to help. Would you mind continuing the conversation in your other topic? That way we do not spam Yvonne’s inbox.

    Thank you!

Ahh yes, I see that account now. It is strange it did not popup when I did a search for your last name. All the same the license there expires in six days. It is for www.stroudsburgwesleyan.org.

If you want to merge all of your licenses into a single account, you can purchase a new license with the coupon code winter-renewal . That will give you the renewal discount for a new license under either account. I just wanted to offer this to you in case you would find it easier to only have a single account.

Let me know if there is anything else. Thanks Steve!

    Howdy Matt,

I am truly sorry that this has been a pain. No exaggeration, we spend a hundred plus hours every release doing QA and have nearly 10 people double checking one another. But sometimes bugs can still clip through. We are still working to improve this area though. Specifically we have 2 people whose sole focus right now is building a full fledged test suite, which is helping augment the QA (particularly in areas like recurrences and exclusions).

As with any piece of software it is usually easiest to not upgrade immediately when there is a major release (like 4.0). But instead to wait for a few patches to be released that help address any bugs which were impossibly to catch during prerelease testing. Staying on 3.12 is not a bad strategy for now. We are planning to support it for a while longer.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for the feedback!

    Howdy Douglas,

The only WordPress 4.4 issue we are aware of was patched in version 4.0.1 of our plugin. It affected the Appearance > Menus page of WP Admin.

If you are seeing issues on the front end, it is more likely they are related to a plugin or theme that is not yet compatible with The Events Calendar 4.x. To find out, this guide walks you through how to test for a conflict, and then identify what is conflicting.  From there we can contact the authors of these items and let them know there is a conflict, and if they’re willing work with them to resolve it.

    Does that all make sense?

    Cheers!

    Howdy 600lines,

Thank you for taking the time to research this and report a suspected bug. You are definitely correct, this is a bug. We are working on a fix and it looks like one will likely be ready in verion 4.1 of the plugins. Until then, it is recommended that you either use the APM date search/limitting feature to narrow the results. I am truly sorry for it not working in the interim. We are going to fix it as soon as we can.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Cheers!

    Howdy Matt,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing the bug report. This is something we are working on a fix for. I have added you to our tracker, which means you will get updates like a notification when a fix is about to be released.

In the mean time if you understandably need a fix right now, the only one available is to Downgrade the plugim (click here for a guide). It’s obviously not an ideal solution, but at least it will work right now while we continue researching a better fix that will apply to everyone.

Does that all make sense? Will that work for you? Please let me know.

    Cheers!

    Howdy Paul,

I would love to help you with this. This is probably stemming from a conflict with your theme. Something on your site is purposefully hiding that widget, and I would bet it is the theme or perhaps a setting in the theme.

That said I believe adding this CSS to your website will solve the conflict:

    .tribe-this-week-widget-wrapper {
    display: block !important;
    }

That should override whatever is telling the page to hide the widget, and tell the page to show the widget again. Add that to your theme’s CSS file.

Does that all make sense? Will that work for you? Please let me know.

    Cheers!

    Howdy Gary,

Pardon the delay in getting back to you here. We have been unusually bust the past week and a half.

I am happy to hear that after downloading Event Tickets it went smooth. It sounds like we need to rejigger our link to Event Tickets. That is good to know, thank you!

One thing I did not think about when we were talking about using RSVPs as waitlists is that when a user signs up for an RSVP they will get an email with a checkin code and ticket#  for that event. This could easily mislead them into thinking they are now past the waitlist and just got a true ticket. Currently it sounds like your RSVP folks are not getting this email. But that’s probably a good thing. After you have confirmed whether or not tat is happening on your site, I am wondering if we should think about making that a permanent feature for you?

Were you hoping to automatically send an alternate email when they RSVP, one that thanks them for adding themselves to the waitlist and saying you would contact them? That might be doable. Let me know if this is the route you were hoping to go.

    Cheers!

    Howdy Sengwai,

It sounds like the only plugin of ours you need to purchase is Event Tickets Plus (the new version of WooCommerce Tickets which we just renamed). From there you can download the free plugins The Events Calendar and WooCommerce.

    Cheers!

    Howdy Robert,

I will take over for Leah. It’s nice to meet you!

What you want is not really possible without modifying the plugin. When an order is marked complete the tickets are automatically emailed to the customer. At that point the checkin feature becomes available for that ticket. Until then tickets and checkin are not available.

We only have one payment gateway so once its paid it will stand as processing, but due to norwegian law, the order is not completed before the course/event is done.

We do have number of customers from Norway, but have yet to encounter any discussions about it conflicting with your laws before. I am very sorry for the inconvenience. It has definitely piqued our interest. Are you also experiencing similar issues with other WooCommerce “virtual” or digital products? Like tickets those products are not available until the order is marked complete. Have you found a workaround for that?

Do you have any more information on this law. Perhaps a link to it or the name of it? I understand if you don’t, but if you do we would like to investigate further.

I am sorry for the delayed response! It looks like you’re itching to get this over with.

Downgrading is not a bad idea for now. We have a lovely guide on how to do it: Downgrading a plugin. Personally I would not try downgrading back to 3.6, I would go to 3.12 if that one still worked. The jump from 4.0 > 3.12 is not as big as to 3.6, and it’s less likely to introduce errors of its own. Plus we are planning to support 3.12 for a while longer, to give theme authors the time to  update themes and plugins.

The guide I linked to above will answer all of your questions, and walk you through the best practice for downgrading including making a backup. But still I don’t want to leave any open questions:

Should I first uninstall the newer before reinstalling the older one? I will not loose my events?

Uninstalling first is not needed. You should not lose your events, however you should definitely backup first just to be safe. Especially if going to 3.6, as 3.6 used a different format for recurring events and you may see errors on your site for recurring events.

Does that all make sense? Will that work for you? Please let me know.

    Cheers!

I really appreciate the feedback, Gary. That is a cool way to use RSVPs. We are a bit hesitant to advertise that as a waitlist feature for now, as it is not completely geared towards waitlists yet. We would like to address the wait list feature request in the future, and make it a little more seamless. But in the interim I agree, using RSVPs as a waitlist is a good immediate solution.

    Thank you!

I am sorry the conflict test can be a PITA. I so wish there was a better way to debug WordPress, but there really isn’t.

Could you elaborate on what “Doesn’t seem to be an issue.” means? Are you saying that when you did the conflict test the issue went away?

You absolutely can provide login details if you want. Typically when people do so they check the box “Private Reply” to hide those details from folks outside of Modern Tribe. But, keep in mind for legal liability reasons 🙁 our TOS prevents us from making any changes to your site while logged in. We can observe, but not touch any settings or anything. So it might not be a huge help here.
