ParticipantHowdy Leah,
Thanks for giving that a whirl. Very strange. Let me try some testing and get back to you tomorrow. I think that issue might be related to something 3 other users have seen, a very rare issue with organizers triggering a PHP error.

ParticipantHowdy Kris,
That’s a good question. The Events Calendar is a standard WordPress “Custom Post Type Archive” page. Basically when you create a “Custom Post Type” in WordPress as many plugins do, WordPress automatically creates this page. It behaves similarly to any other archive page WordPress creates, like the pages it creates for a blog category or tag. So you will add sidebars content on it the same way you would if you were trying to alter the sidebars a specific category within your blog – via the WordPress API. This requires knowledge of PHP and coding though.
Many plugins choose to try and hijack or hide this page and instead show it via a [shortcode]. Originally we did not because this fights how WordPress intends for things to go, it slows the site down, is prone to bugs, and many other issues. <span style=”line-height: 1.5;”>But, enough people have requested that we make the page embeddable via shortcode that we are working on converting our code so that it can be embedded that way too, such as within a WordPress page. But this requires a lot of work, especially to prevent bugs, so it’s a slow going effort.</span>
Does that answer your question? Relating that answer back to your circumstance you are basically going to need a decent knowledge of PHP and modifying WP Themes to alter which sidebars appear on your calendar, since your theme does not use standard WP Templates. I’m sorry that’s probably not the answer you were looking for. ;(

ParticipantHowdy Glenn,
I am sorry, someone misunderstood my request here and assigned this topic to me instead of taking it. I just reassigned this topic to Geoff, he heads up our support team and runs Macs. Best of all he is usually on fairly early in the mornings Pacific Time, so hopefully this will result in the fastest response possible. 🙂
Please let me know if you need anything in the mean time. Again, very sorry for the delay.

ParticipantHowdy MD,
Thanks for reporting back.
I’m not familiar enough with the Nivo slider plugin to offer good alternatives. But now that we know where the conflict is coming from we can reach out to them directly. We will start by offering them free licenses/support for our plugins, and seeing if they wouldn’t mind doing something similar. If so we can test this issue until we can reproduce it, and see if a fix should be crafted for our plugin or theres. Eventually an update can be release for one plugin or the other that addresses things. But this is unfortunately usually a bit of lengthy process, given working with two different teams and various schedules.
Thanks again!

ParticipantHowdy Pickleshy,
That’s a good idea. I’d also like to see us consider the option of limiting caching to +/- 12 months, that way at most you will have 24 months of entries caches. Anything viewed outside of that window is unlikely to be viewed twice. Do you think that would be a good permanent solution?

ParticipantHowdy Glenn,
I just wanted to checkin and let you know that our Mac folks have left for the day, and the only person left is me who owns a Windows computer. I am sending out the word for one of the people with access to Safari to have a looksie at your site first thing in the morning here in the States. Please pardon the delay there! We’ll get you a proper response as soon as we can.

ParticipantHowdy Jen,
I would love to help you with this. Would you mind logging in so I can verify your support access? Or, if you don’t have/want a license (which includes a year of support) you should checkout the volunteer community on WordPress.org: The Events Calendar. It’s not the same level of support, but it’s free! We even check those forums once each week and help to the extent we can.
Cheers!

ParticipantHowdy Chuck Peters,
No worries at all. We have so many plugins now it is a bit hard to wade through them all and find everything you need… We’re always trying to find ways to make this easier.
I just processed your refund. The funds should be back in your account in the next few days. It depends a bit on your bank or whoever issued your credit card.
Let me know if I can help further or if you have any questions. Cheers!

ParticipantHowdy Dan,
I would love to help you with this. That’s not a stupid question at all.
Paying for Event Tickets Plus is just a one-time payment to us. There is not charge per ticket sold. However, if you are not already familiar with running an Ecommerce store then there is something you should know: if you wish to accept credit cards online then you will need a “payment gateway”. A popular one is PayPal Express. When you customer inputs a credit card these details are forwarded to the payment gateway such as PayPal, and PayPal typically charges ~3% for each transaction. The exact fee will depend on the gateway you choose.
Setting up an ecommerce store can require a bit of knowhow and certainly some higher costs than your average website. If you wish to avoid all of that you might be interested in a service like Eventbrite. They will sell the tickets for you on their website which already has a store setup, while take their fee. Their offering ties in well with Eventbrite Tickets, an alternative plugin we have that functions very similar to Event Tickets Plus.
Does that all make sense? Does that answer your questions? Please let me know.
Cheers!
